Partners!!!!!

Batman has had more than one partner during his long illustrious career.  They have all brought something to the table, and have kept him in check at the same time, because if there is one thing that Batman needs, will always be a "Robin".  The first person to be his partner, was Dick Grayson.  Dick is a circus acrobat, and, with his parents, one of the "Flying Graysons". While preparing for a performance, Dick overhears two gangsters attempting to extort protection money from the circus owner. The owner refuses, so the gangsters sabotage the trapeze wires with acid. During the next performance, the trapeze from which Dick's parents are swinging snaps, sending them to their deaths. Before he can go to the police, Batman appears to him and warns him that the two gangsters work for Tony Zucco, a very powerful crime boss, and that revealing his knowledge could lead to his death. When Batman recounts the murder of his own parents, Dick asks to become his aide. After extensive training, Dick becomes Robin.   They start by disrupting Zucco's gambling and extortion rackets. They then successfully bait the riled Zucco into visiting a construction site, where they capture him.  Dick was his sidekick for years, and they had many adventures together, until he had a falling out with Batman, leading to an estrangement that would last for many years.  The maturing Dick Grayson grows weary of his role as Batman's young sidekick. He renames himself Nightwing, recalling his adventure in the Kryptonian city of Kandor, where he and Batman meet the local hero of the same name.  He now resides in Blüdhaven.

Following the events of Batman's apparent death, Nightwing has closed down shop in New York so as to return to Gotham, where after the events of "Battle for the Cowl", he assumes the identity of Batman, with Damian, Bruce Wayne's biological son, as the new Robin.  This last’s for about a year until Batman’s return, at which time Dick relinquishes the mantle of the Bat, back to Bruce, and he once again becomes Nightwing.

With Dick now gone, Batman was without a partner, bring in Jason Todd.

Jason Todd is recast as a young street orphan who first encounters the Dark Knight while attempting to steal the tires off the Batmobile in Crime Alley. Jason, the son of Willis and Catherine Todd, lives on the East end of Gotham, in the Park Row district called Crime Alley. Todd's mother was a drug addict who died of an overdose some time before he began living on the street. His father Willis was working as hired muscle for Two-Face and had disappeared suspiciously following a botched assignment. Bruce Wayne sees to it that Todd is placed in a school for troubled youths which turns out to be Ma Gunn's School for Crime. Jason earns the mantle of Robin a short while later by helping Batman apprehend the gang of thieves. However, Todd does not wear the Robin costume (an improved version of the classic) until six months of training.   Batman notes that while Todd doesn't possess Dick Grayson's natural athleticism & acrobatic skills, he can become a productive crimefighter by channeling his rage. He also believes that if he doesn't help the boy, Todd will eventually become part of the "criminal element."

Jason Todd discovers that Catherine Todd was not his biological mother, and runs away to find the woman who gave birth to him. After following a number of leads, including an Israeli Mossad agent and Shiva Woo-San, Todd finally tracks his mother, Sheila, to Ethiopia, where she works as an aid worker. While Todd is overjoyed to be reunited with his real mother, he soon discovers that she is being blackmailed by the Joker, who is using her to provide him with medical supplies. Sheila herself has been embezzling from the aid agency and as part of the cover-up, she hands her own son, who arrives as Robin, over to the Joker. The Joker beats the boy brutally with a crowbar, and then leaves him and Sheila in the warehouse with a time bomb. Sheila and Robin try desperately to get out of the warehouse but are still inside as the bomb goes off. Batman arrives too late to save them, and finds Jason's lifeless body in the rubble. Sheila lives just long enough to tell Batman that Jason died trying to protect her. The bodies are taken back to Gotham City for burial. Todd's death haunts Batman, and he considers it his greatest failure. He keeps the second Robin's uniform on display in the Batcave as a reminder. The murder of Todd, along with the maiming of Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl, intensifies Batman's obsession with the Joker.

Superboy-Prime alters reality from the paradise dimension in which he is trapped — his punches against the barrier keeping him from the rest of the universe causing temporal ripples — Todd is restored to life, breaks out of his coffin, and is eventually hospitalized; having wandered so far from his grave before his discovery, no connection was ever drawn between the two events, with groundskeepers covering up the disturbed grave rather than report it. Todd never turns up on any missing persons reports - as he was never 'missing' - nor can he be identified since no prints are on file for him. After spending a year in a coma and subsequently another year as an amnesiac vagrant after escaping the hospital, he is taken by Talia al Ghul after a small-time crook recognizes him as Robin due to his combat skills on the street.

Talia took Todd in out of her love for Batman, while her father, Ra's Al Ghul, was interested in the secret behind his resurrection. The League of Assassins tracked and eliminated everyone in Gotham who knew of Todd's resurrection to prevent Batman from finding out. They also interrogated the Joker's henchmen who were with him during Todd's murder, in hopes to find out how the boy could have survived.  Talia later restored Todd's health and memory by immersing him in a Lazarus Pit in which her father was also bathing and helped him escape the house of al Ghul. It is suggested by Ra's that the power of the pit resulted in Todd's mental instability. Ra's refers to Todd as a "curse" and a "pestilence" unleashed on the planet, saying that madness may affect him in "hours, months, or decades".  Todd learns various skills from various masters, assassins, mercenaries, and aviators around the globe, including guns, poisons and antitoxins, martial arts and acrobatics, and bomb-making.  During his journey, Jason discovers that Batman has replaced him as Robin with another boy named Timothy Drake, which further torments him.

After learning of the Joker's arms deal in Los Angeles for another terrorism plot, Jason begins to stalk the villain as a masked assassin. After successfully capturing the Joker (who fails to recognize him), Jason contemplates burning him alive after dousing him with gasoline. However, Jason realizes that he does not simply want the Joker to die, but desires to punish both him and Batman. Jason spares the Joker and decides to wait for the right opportunity. Jason also admits to Talia that he has already deduced that the reason she finances his training is to stall him from killing Batman, but he has no desire to kill his former mentor anymore. Talia then gives Todd the idea to be the Batman that Gotham needs. Jason Todd enters into a pact with Hush and the Riddler. He confirms to Hush that the Riddler is correct that Bruce Wayne is Batman. As Hush, Riddler, and Jason collaborate, Jason initially confronts Batman at his own gravesite. Jason then switches places with Clayface in order to observe Batman from afar. When Batman expresses no remorse for sparing the Joker's life after the second Robin was killed, Todd is further angered and takes up his murderer's original mantle of the Red Hood. After she initiated a takeover of Kord Industries for him, Talia gives Jason a flame dagger (a replica of the one Ra's al Ghul often carried) and a red helmet as gifts, and they become his signature weapon and mask.  Using the money from Talia and infuriated by her statement that he "remains unavenged", Todd paid a group of mercenaries to help him return to Gotham. Upon arriving, he enacts a plan to get revenge on Batman, who he blamed for his death.  Todd is now leader of the Outlaws, a team that also includes Starfire and Roy Harper.

Tim Drake is the son of Jack and Janet Drake, coming from the same social class as Bruce Wayne.   When he was a young child, he visited the circus for the first time with his parents. The Drakes asked the Flying Graysons for a photo together, resulting in a momentary bond between Dick Grayson and Tim Drake as they met for the first time.

After reaching the age of nine, Drake deduces the identities of Batman and Robin as Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson after witnessing a gymnastic move by Robin that Grayson displayed while performing with the Flying Graysons. Noting that Batman has grown reckless and violent following the death of second Robin Jason Todd,  who was murdered by the Joker, Drake decided to intervene and Batman eventually enlisted him as the third Robin after the death of his mother and the crippling of his father.  Before joining Batman as the new Robin, Tim Drake was given a modern redesign of the Robin costume and sent to train abroad with numerous masters.

After Batman's apparent death, Bruce Wayne's biological son Damian Wayne takes up the Robin identity while Tim Drake, believing that his mentor is still alive, assumes the identity of Red Robin and leaves Gotham City to go on a worldwide search for Bruce Wayne.  Tim Drake's search to find evidence that Bruce Wayne was still alive after cutting himself off from the rest of the Bat Family. He was approached by Ra's al Ghul's assassins, who were also interested in finding out what happened to Batman. At the same time, Tam, Lucius Fox's daughter, has been sent to find Tim Drake-Wayne to bring him back to Gotham. Tim goes to Iraq and manages to discover definitive proof that Bruce was alive and lost in time, but was ambushed by an assassin from the Council of Spiders. He manages to drive himself to Tam Fox's hotel room, and they are promptly abducted by the League of Assassins. Although initially reluctant, he entered into an alliance with Ra's al Ghul nearly bleeding to death due to their encounter with the Council of Spiders. He was put in charge of the League of Assassins by Ra's al Ghul, and used the time to simultaneously plan how to stop the Council of Spiders and destroy the League of Assassins. After failing to foil all but one of the Council's assassination attempts, Tim realizes that the Council will be attacking the League's base, and realizes that he left Tam Fox in danger at the base. Rushing back to base, he simultaneously manages to delay the Council of Spiders, blow up the League's base, and escape with Tam.

After crippling Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins, Drake returns to Gotham City to overthrow Ra's plans to use Hush, who was surgically altered to resemble Bruce Wayne, to gain control of the Wayne family resources by becoming the CEO and controlling shareholder of Wayne Enterprises in accordance to Bruce Wayne's will. Ra's al Ghul plans to destroy all that Batman held dear, and begins directing his assassins to target all of the Batman's associates. Realizing that these attacks are a smokescreen and that the real target is coercing Hush to sign away Wayne Enterprises, Red Robin decides to confront Ra's al Ghul head on. He calls upon all of his friends to protect the various targets. He distracts Ra's al Ghul from stopping Lucius Fox from making Drake the controlling shareholder of Wayne Enterprises. Realizing that Red Robin has bested him, Ra's al Ghul commends him, calls him 'detective,' and launches Tim out of the window.Tim is happy that he was able to achieve victory without any compromises, and is saved from falling by Batman, Dick Grayson. Drake has since moved back to Gotham City and reestablished ties with his family and friends. After Bruce Wayne's return, Tim begins to aid his plans for expanding their mission globally with Batman, Inc. Tim is eventually appointed as the head of the newest incarnation of the Outsiders, who now serve as Batman Inc.'s black-ops wing.  Red Robin eventually rejoins the Teen Titans and takes over leadership from Wonder Girl. He remains as the team's leader during their climatic battle against Superboy-Prime and the new Legion of Doom.

This once again left Batman without a Robin.  Enter Stephanie Brown, aka Spoiler.  Creating a homemade Robin costume, Stephanie sneaks into the Batcave and demands that Batman train her as the new Robin. Batman reluctantly accepts her as the new Robin, puts her through several months of intensive training, and makes her a better costume with roughly the same design as Tim's. As Robin, she patrols with Batman, but he thinks she is too unskilled to be an acceptable replacement for Tim. Batman later fires her after she disobeys his orders during two missions

Damian is brought into the picture once Tim moves on to become Red Robin.  Bruce's biological son, it is only befitting that there is actually a Father/Son team.  Bruce returned to being the only Batman, while Dick has returned to his previous role as Nightwing. Damian still serves as his father's partner as Robin. After reading the letter written by his father from an alternate timeline, the Dark Knight decides that it is time to take steps to put his past behind him. He tries to teach Damian the same

values his parents have instilled within him as he finally assumes his role as a father.   However, despite Bruce's attempts to build a relationship with his son, Damian remains cold and distant with his father, which Alfred worries about. This relationship is further strained when Damian kills the villain Nobody. During the "Leviathan" mission, when his mother Talia puts a price on his head and is targeted by the most dangerous and skilled assassins, Bruce faked Damian's death and secluded him in the Batcave in order to protect him while he goes undercover to confront Talia and her minions. But against his father's wishes he escapes, donning a new costume under the name of Redbird.  Along with the mysterious Wingman and most of the Bat-family, Damian manages to rescue his father and defeat most of the League of Shadows. However, Batman explains that the temporary defeat of the League will not stop a larger force to attack later and destroy the city, so he came to the extreme decision that the only solution possible is that Damian to return to his mother, a decision that caused an emotional reaction on Damian like never before..

Damian Wayne is and always will be the best Robin of all times....

Along with the above mentioned Robin's, Bruce does have another ally on his side, that is Helena Wayne.  Yes, I did just say Helena Wayne.

She is the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, although Selina keptthis from Bruce, he eventually found out about Helena, when she arrived on his doorstep one day.  Helena adopted the guise of Huntress, only after arriving in this universe, for you see, she came from another timeline, where she was also Robin.  She arrived into his universe via a Boomtube, and Bruce has taken her in as his own, even though the Batman from that other universe died, saving Earth from an Apokoliptian invasion.  She has been with him and Damian since.
