The mysterious man had come to me in the Batcave, asking me for help in locating his daughter…….but I had other things keeping me pre-occupied…. The Mayor of Gotham was missing.
“Detective, I know that the Mayor of Gotham is indeed missing, and I have it from good sources that the same people who have taken him have taken my daughter….. “
I listen to him, half heartedly as I walk past him and towards the computer, as I access every known database to find the Mayor. I then turn back to him. “You expect me to believe you, I don’t even know who you are, and how you got in here. “ The mysterious man steps towards me. “We both are looking for the same man, and they are both being held by this man, his name…… Sensei” I look at him…no glare at him. “What makes you think I should believe you? And still you seem to know me, but I don’t know you” The mysterious man pauses for a second and then steps into the light. He roughly stands about 6 foot, and is in his early 50’s and seems to be in excellent condition. “Oh, where are my manners, forgive me Detective, my name is Ra’s Al Ghul” The name rings a bell, but I had always thought that this man was a myth, an aberration. “You still haven’t told me how you got in here though?”
“That is easy, I am a man of many talents, and I make it my business to know all about the man who has been considered the World’s Greatest Detective” I take a step towards him, and out of the corner of my eye I catch a shadow, another figure steps in between him and myself “Ubu, please the Detective means no harm, we are just discussing things…..” Ubu steps back, but lets me know of his presence. “What makes you think I will believe you, what proof do you have that they are both being held hostage.” Ra’s takes out a folder and hands it to me. I open it and inside is a picture of the Mayor gagged and tied, along with a woman….. a woman whose looks can take your breath away with a smile. “This is your daughter?” is all I say, as I can’t take my eyes off of the photo…
“Yes” Ra’s answers. “My only living relative and she means the world to me, that is why I am asking you for your help. Will you say yes? Will you help me in retrieving my Daughter from the clutches of a common enemy?” I look at him and then back to the photo…. “Yes, I will help you” I don’t know why I said yes so quickly, was it because of my need to get the Mayor back to Gotham, or was it the woman, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen…… To be continued……..
