Interview Session Five: Heart to Heart

The audience moves around and talks quietly as if nothing has happened.  The cameramen move following focusing back on the interview as if they had taken a commercial break.  There is a strange feeling that some are aware of, but only Zatanna and her interviewer know what has just happened.

Interviewer: “Listen, I know that we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but I really do appreciate that you are here. You are an icon, a powerful magician, a role model to many, and a superhero!  You make people smile, you give people hope, and you are a light in the darkness to many people in my world or yours.”

Zatanna: *relaxes a little from her previously tense posture and says quietly* “Thank you.  It isn’t always easy.”

Interviewer: “No, but you always find a way to get through it.  That’s what I love about you.  I know that you have a few stories on here, but there are so many more that I have put you in when I write my own stories on Word.   On my bad days, I admit that I put you through some tough times, and maybe challenged you in a way that I’ve felt the world has challenged me, but I am always inspired by your ingenuity and creativeness to solve your own problems.”

Zatanna: “Thank you.  It’s good to know you believe in me.  There are a lot of problems that we’ve apparently faced together so I don’t exactly have to tell you that magic doesn’t fix everything.  Also, those stories you write, you really should find a place for them, maybe even in a few stories on here.” *she smiles encouragingly*

Interviewer: “I can’t say I’m going to, I get a little shy when it comes to my writings.  Besides, it opens it up for other people to make new stories I may not think of at all.”

Zatanna: “Hey, a little confidence looks great on anyone.  If working with me does anything to influence your life like you do mine, I’d hope you’d take at least some of my confidence with you.”

Interviewer: “Oh, I definitely do.  I mean, to say that you inspire and empower me is an understatement.  After all, I have two Spotify Playlists, a Pinterest with four blogs dedicated to ideas that I am inspired by for you, and several fanfic stories and movies that I try to incorporate with details from them that I feel ring true to who you are.”

Zatanna: “Anything, in particular, you wanted to share that you’re working on writing?”

Interviewer: “Honestly, during Valentine’s Day I watched “It’s Compilated” and I’m definitely debating writing a parody of the story with yourself as Meryl Streep’s character.” *nervous laugh*

Zatanna: *blinks* “Well.. that’s something… I mean, I can’t say I’m insulted.  Meryl Streep is a badass.”

Interviewer: “Definitely.”

Zatanna: “I guess I realize now that while you may have thrown me to the wolves a time or two, I really appreciate that when you were happy, sad, bored, or the cards were stacked against you, you had me in mind.”

Interviewer: “I’d like to say in a healthy way you’ve certainly grown on me.”

Zatanna: “I guess I’m also kind of warming up to the idea of this working together concept.”

Interviewer: “I’m glad to know you trust me.”

*the cameraman waves to get the interviewer’s attention and motions to his wrist where his watch sits*

Interviewer: “Well, Zatanna, we have to cut to commercial, but when we come back, we’ll wrap up this interview!”

To be continued…
