Casspian T. Collymore married his highschool sweetheart, Dahlia, and moved out of his parents home immediatley after graduation. He discovered soon after that he had married into a family of elemental magicians. Cassie's wife Dahlia possesed a slight command over nature, specifically, the magic of growth. She held the ability to help things flourish and thrive. Unfortunatley, that ability did not seem to extend to their marriage.
When Cassie joined the family he inherited elemental powers of his own. His magic went hand in hand with his wife's; the power of decay. Together they were life and death. Being unexperiencecd, Cassie was a poor warlock. The nature of his magic proved to be disastrous when weilded by an unseasoned elemental, and it was only with the aid of Dhalia's powers that he was able to control his.
And then his marriage slowly crumbled. Cassie and Dhalia divorced after nearly a decade of trying to salvage their relationship. While they managed to maintain a friendship, Cassie was no longer under the constant protection of Dahlia's superior power.
Cassie lost all control of his magic. In addition to the power of decay, he discovered that he also held the ability of reanimation. He was under the constant threat of accidently killing living things or bringing dead ones back to life.
With no job or money Cassie was forced to move back in with his parents and accept a position in the family business. Unfortunatley for him, said business was a funeral home. He now works as a funeral director whilst desperatley trying not to wake every deceased person inside the building.
