Dolai was born in what is now Ethiopia, among a prehistoric people known as the Anu. Her mother, Nani, seemed to have an immaculate conception of her own, leading many tribespeople to believe that she had birthed a sort of curse from their trickster God, or a demon child. Unbeknownst to Dolai, her father was the First One, the first god of the first people to inhabit Central Africa. At the age of fifteen, she began to receive visions of the land locked in ice and the death of the five northern tribes. The people starved as the forests and plains they once hunted in froze over, if they did not perish from the cataclysmic eruption of what would be the Quaternary Ice Age. The message was clear; if they stayed, they would die.

She rallied the five tribes of North Africa, each becoming divided by the desire to leave or stay in the homeland they had always lived in. In the end, some did stay, others built boats to sail into the eastern sea, and Dolai and other tribespeople went north along the Mediterranean, Middle East and Asia Minor3713431160?profile=RESIZE_710x. Dolai was married to Daxeri, the son of the Xdu chief, and became pregnant not long after.

Then the ice came.

The earth shook and cracked, the sky tore in half, releasing the heaven’s fury, as the land and sea became locked within ice. Darkness and discord ruled the lands. In what is now Azerbaijan, Dolai gave birth to a stillborn daughter at the age of sixteen. Her husband took another wife, who bore him sons and mocked Dolai’s proclaimed failure.

Dolai cursed the Gods for the darkness, the ice, the death of her people and her child. It was then her father revealed his presence. He was weakened, his followers having died or abandoned him, the belief that kept him alive was fading. The God told her of her purpose; to scribe the story of mankind, to usher it forth and watch nations rise and fall.

Dolai left her tribe at once, bringing people to new lands and honing her magical ability, surviving long enough to witness the ice melt, and the sun return at the dawn of the fertile crescent. From then on, Dolai would live a thousand lives. She would lead people to the four corners of the earth, crossing the ice bridge with ancient Siberians to the Americas.

She would become djati to the first Pharaoh, Nari Mare, and to Hatshepsut. She would become the Akkadian-Sumerian Queen, wife to Sargon of Akkad. Centuries later, an empress at the side of Alexander the Great, become an advisor to Genghis Khan, fight in Shaka Zulu’s armies, guide young Siddhartha Gautama and conquer lands with Ragnar Lodbrok. Dolai would sail with West Africans to Central America, where the Olmec civilization would blossom, she would journey with the wayfinders to the Polynesian islands, and bring the Ainu to Japan.

Dolai has watched the rise and fall of many empires, a mere relic of the past, embarking on a seemingly endless journey. So the nomad continues to wander, protecting the earth from what should be left in the past, and continues to scribe the world’s story.

The Anu

The Five Tribes of North Africa inhabited North and Northeast Africa from 80,000 to 60,000 B.C.E. They were the Anu, the Nxual, the Ədul, the Xdu and the Iəku. Dolai hails from the Anu people. They were nomadic people that roamed modern day Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Egypt and Libya. They followed the migration of what they called Ifeə, "horned beast,"or the pelovoris, a prehistoric African buffalo. Unfortunately, this lead to war with sedentary tribes, like the Nxual of Libya, Algeria and Morroco, as well as the Ədul of Libya, Sudan, Chad and Niger.

All tribes had no concept of farming, fishing, building, etc. They were hunter-gatherers, meaning they relied on hunting animals and gathering natural resources for survival.

The Anu are tall, typically mesomorphic people, with skin ranging from copper or bronze brown to obsidian black. They have 4b or 4c hair, rarely anything besides black. They have straight noses with rounded nostrils, full lips and large, slanted or upturned eyes. Their faces are often narrow, with high cheekbones and larger ears. Scarification was common with black skinned tribesmembers, whereas brown skinned often had black stick and poke tattoos. Hair was often locked into dreads, or braided against ones scalp.

They spoke isiAnu, which sounded like a series of clicks, grunts, vowels and harsh, gutteral consanants. The X makes a "high" click sound,  the Ç makes a "neutral" click and the Ə makes a "low" click. The Ğ is a throaty grunt.

They used spears, bows and arrows and blades. Their diet consisted of fruits, wild rice, elephant, buffalo, okapi, fish, and things of that nature. Life was greatly affected by the change in climate in North Africa. Every ten to one hundred years, North Africa went from full of life, dominated by tropical plants to a dry desert, and then back again, a transformation that the Anu called Yan'adual.

Religion held great importance to the Anu. They believed that what lie in ones heart and the motive of their actions, would send them to either Çxu'ğl (Above the Sky/the afterlife) or Ğmur (Below the Sea/the underworld). Their teachings relied heavily on duality, the safety of what is known and the fear of what is unknown.

Their two main Gods, were Ta'jat and Xanadu. Ta'jat was the Sun, the ruler of the Sky and creator, he was the God of the sun, life, chiefs, Çxu'ğl, Yan'adual and the Afa, which was the future, the known and divination. Xanadu was the wife of Ta'jat, and the Goddess of the moon, magic, healing, wisdom and the past. Omandu was created by Ta'jat, and cast down to Ğmur, which he made his domain. He is the God of the sea, evil, Ğmur and the Ofa, or the unknown.

The Efe, or shaman, played a vital role in the tribe. The Efe chosen at a young age, to train under the current Efe. They were spiritual leaders, healers and were believed to have the Afa. This allowed them to tell ones future, transfer their consciousness, recieve prophecies and connect to the Gods. They were believed to hold ancient knowledge through the Afa, and regarded as more than human. It was common for an Efe to gauge their ears and bottom lips, pierce their noses with animal bones, shave their heads and tattoo and scar themselves. They also sometimes stretched their necks with rings or even blinded themselves to only be guided by Ta'jat and therefore have more powerful Afa.

Anu tales and myths coming soon

Despite being sixty millennium's old, Dolai does not look her age and appears to be in her early to mid twenties. She has natural black hair of the 4b texture, however she most commonly has dreadlocks. She is also known to wear her natural curls or don twists, box braids and cornrows. She has bronze brown skin that can darken depending on climate, with a cool undertone and sun damage around her nose, cheeks and shoulders. She has full, rosebud lips that reveal fairly white teeth, and one golden left canine tooth on the bottom row. Dolai has a narrow shaped head with a sculpted, sharp bone structure, a defined jawline and high cheekbones. Her arched, full eyebrows arch over almond shaped, dark brown eyes, with long, thick eyelashes. Often dark circles plague the skin beneath her eyes.
Dolai stands at 5'11, with rounded, full hips and shapely
thighs. From centuries of travel, war and hunting, she has a very athletic, strong build. She has a cinched waist, contrasted by broad shoulders and well muscled arms. Her back is arched and toned, her abdomen sculpted and adorned with Ethiopian scarification from the Karo tribe, as curved and straight lines on her stomach. Dolai also has heavily scarred palms from rituals requiring her blood.

The nomad has recieved many tattoos from many regions of the world. Her first tattoo was the sun on the back of her neck. She also has a unalome on her throat, given to her in India during the Maurya Dynasty. An Egyptian scarab is etched into the back of her shoulders, massive Nordic runes adorn  her chest. Dolai has ancient Scythian tribal tattoos on her right arm, depicting the animals she hunted, and a Haida ki-da of Xhuuya, or the Raven, dances across her left arm. Below that is a snake, given to her by the prehistoric Anu people. On her right arm, are Pictish ties. On her lower back is a Sak Yant, or Thai magical tattoo, known as Suea Koo.  On her right hand, she has henna tattooed on the back. On her thighs, she has Polynesian tribal and traditional Japanese Irezumi Hebi, and finally, a West African sankofa on the back of her left calf.

From a first impression, Dolai is not a ray of sunlight and warmth. She maintains a stoic expression, with a rather apathetic and indifferent attitude. She has been percieved as short tempered, distrustful, and above all, blunt. Although this is mostly true, there is more to Dolai.
She is hesitant to form relationships, and would rather observe than assume, and analyzes character through this. She is private, but perceptive and rather talented at deciphering one's true nature. When she finds someone she genuinely connects with, she values honesty, loyalty, respect and ambition within them.
Dolai's true purpose has made her ambitious, in both positive and negative aspects. Some will tell the tale of a noble and just woman, the others a cruel, ambition driven witch. She is without a doubt cunning and driven, with a wisdom only acquired over milleniums of failure and strife. Dolai is constantly willing to learn, her favorite subjects being science and (of course) history.
Despite her many lifetimes, the human and divine aspects of her being are always at war. She is no more than a tired soul, with feet weary from travel, eyes heavy from centuries of witnessing war and shaking shoulders, exhausted from carrying the weight of the world and a downtrodden heart.
From her tens of thousands of years wandering the Earth, Dolai has learned from many branches of witchcraft. Her divine blood also gives her hereditary magic. She is naturally adept in witchcraft and can sense magical presences, beings, items and places, through a burning sensation in her core. Dolai also hears the call of the ancestors, who give her prophetic dreams and visions, which in the Anu religion, divining is known as the Afa. She is semi immortal and immune to all diseases. Dolai also has enhanced physical strength and senses, her body can withstand massive trauma and extreme conditions. She is also gifted with omnilingualism, which means she can speak, understand and write any language upon hearing it.
From her travels, Dolai has learned many facets of witchcraft. These include Ile Ifa, Druidry, Voodoo, Seiðr, Akkadian, Egyptian, Greek, Aztec, Irish Celtic, Native American, Zulu, Himba, Japanese and Aborigine witchcraft. She is also an expert in Vedic and Alchemical magic, and is a member of the Nine Unknown Men.
Dolai also has magic that was given to her, either by beings or items. Through the Veil of Isis, she can grow anything natural from plants to vines to trees. After drinking from the Pot of Fire, she is able to manipulate and manifest fire. She is also able to manipulate sunlight through the enchanted scarab tattoo on the back of her shoulders.
Finally, Dolai has a pocket dimension, a domain only she has access too. There, she has made her own home and keeps her various pets. She also has a giant Library, where she keeps every petroglyph, cave painting, stone tablet, hieroglyph, scroll and book that she has written about the story of mankind. She has never shown the pocket dimension to anyone, and doesn't spend too much time here. Entering the pocket dimension requires a great deal of her magical energy, and she must remain there for two to three days to fully recharge.

Dolai has had many relationships throughout her lifetime, platonic and romantic. As of now, she is single and not too keen on finding a romantic interest. Dolai is demiromantic, meaning it takes a deeper connection for her to develop an interest in someone. However, she is bisexual, and has been in both polyamorous and monogamous relationships.
Leave drama at the door, I tolerate none of it.
I try to keep most of Dolai's story historically accurate. I do tweak some details for her, as she is my character, but if something is wildly inaccurate or offensive, please let me know.
I have the right to say no to a thread.
Do not kill, maim, rape or emotionally scar my character without plotting it with me first.
This is an 18+ zone, there will be mature themes and storylines.
That being said, I do not write purely sexual or violent content. I participate in threads with substance and story behind it.
I'm open to threads and additional plotting. PM or inbox me if you'd like :)

  • "Well...I have to give you credit....they almost stopped me at the door but...I have my ways of getting around them."

There were ways to keep beings like Kujo at a distance but even he found the loopholes in those and manage his way around them, leaning onto the counter top. Now that he was up close to the woman he could examine her a bit better then before when he first entered the place. Her body or what he could tell was covered in tattoos, pretty cool looking ones but he knew better then to think such a thing right? There was this vibe about her that he couldn't exactly tell whether it was good or bad, it had a neutral vibe to it in a way really which kinda caught him off guard and the scent was smelling before was also coming from her, a foreign scent that he had never smelled before. She had an....old scent but at the same time it smelled kinda sweet to him, people and other beings always had that certain kind of scent that told them apart from the next person and she was no different. His eyes went to the bottles behind her, tilting his head to the side as if he was thinking on what he should get to drink...

"I'll have a whiskey on ice please miss..."

Most people wouldn't think that he would be so formal and be all gentlemen like....all part of reeling in people to trust him really. He looked over his shoulder outside to see Al still standing outside but it seems as though he was busy looking in his phone at something, as long as the young man was alright he turned his head back to the woman on the other side of the bar. He waited patiently as she fixed his drink, the question strike him as a bit of a surprise really, but she had to be new in the area to not have known about him and his dealings right?

"Well....let's just say that I'm a....powerful guy around here, I run a business and people who have crossed me or have tried to shut down my business well, it didn't end so pretty for them."

  • "Uhh sir....do you think this is a good idea...?"

Again Kujo didn't respond to the man that accompany him on this little trip to the bar, he gulped, beads of sweat formed on the male's forehead what was he so nervous about? Their walk was no more then maybe 15 minutes away from where they once was and when they got to the place, they stared at the building for a moment. Inside he could smell many things but one scent stood out the most to him, a scent that was foreign to him....a scent that he had never smelled before really and all the while this scent was making the animal within go crazy right now. Kujo narrowed his eyes for a moment....how could a place just suddenly appear out of blue with no means of flyers around the area to announce its grand entrace to the community but then again, not everyone does that now and days. He reached for the door handle as he pushed the door open and walked inside the bar with his company close behind him shaking in his pants right now. The moment Kujo set foot in that place, the atomsphere in there completely changed, once semi full of chatter had turned into silence and whispers when he made his presence known in the place.

Some of the locals in the area knew of Kujo and what he was capable of doing to someone if they chose not to play by his rules...some even knew not to get on his bad side if they wanted to see the morning sun ever again so they made the right choice in keeping their mouths shut and moving out of his way when he came inside. Those eyes of his looked around, such a nice gig they had going on really, such a very interesting place indeed it was; that scent from before was stronger then before, those yellow eyes of his soon glanced over at the bar where a woman was standing. You know what they say? Curosity killed the cat right? Was she the owner? She had to be....or she could be the co owner but he wasn't the one to make assumptions right off the bat or anything. He didn't say anything when she spoke to him, he just stared like he normally did and look around, slowly making his way towards the bar all the while he was examining the place...this place held that eerie vibe that he had sensed from before he got her.

"Got a nice little bar here miss.....you must be the owner of this place correct?"

    "....Excuse me sir...."

"Go wait outside....grown people are talking at the moment Al..."

He nodded his head as he quickly turned on his heels and made a beeline for the door and walked out into the fresh air of the night; now that he was gone, he could have a nice talk with the woman without any interruptions from his company that tagged along with him. "Its funny....I've never heard of your business around these parts before until tonight..."

  • "Sir...you need to check something out."

The male had this nervous look on his face when he spoke to his boss, as if something had spooked him or let alone that he was in trouble. He could smell the fear rolling off the male in copious waves, a smell that seems to have excite the beast within him to give chase to the poor man but at alas he doesn't for he is one of his sellers on the streets along with several other men that were selling his drugs to buyers all around. Those yellow piercing eyes glanced over at the male, bringing his hand up as he then removed his cigarette from his lips and flicked it on the ground, blowing out the toxic smoke from his nose as he pushed himself off the brick wall of an old building that was more then likely occupied by homeless people sleeping inside looking for a place to lay their heads and not be bothered by people wandering the streets still. Whatever it was, Kujo wasn't all that happy by the tone of the male's voice, just when he thought he was going to have a good night it seems but then something always comes up and he has to always check it out of course cause it could be someone or something trying to drive off his customers or to buy off his customers on his turf.

Every small to high business in the area owned him, he ran the show around the area; hell he even bought off half of the police station in the area to keep them off his tracks and out of his business, there really are some dirty ass cops in this world isn't it? The look on Kujo's face wasn't that of being annoyed or upset, it was moreso that something had sparked his inttrest it seems. Just what was is that need to be seen exactly. He didn't respond to the male or anything, he just stared at him as he shook from head to toe. His men knew to never look him in the eyes, that was a form of challenging him and that was the last thing that this man wanted to was question his position in power and to be killed for doing so. The night gave off an eerie vibe....a vibe that he was all too familiar with but this time, it was different, far different from what he would normally sense around this time of night but as they say, the night was still young and it wasn't getting any older so why not have a little fun at least?

"Is it about that bar I told you to read up on...?"

"Yes sir, it seems to be a popluar place for some of the people to go and hang....rumor has it that a woman runs the place."

A woman? Now that is good news to hear, not that he was complaining or anything but its not every day you hear about a woman running a bar in these parts, though they should be more careful as to where they set up shop at otherwise, they would be running off his buyers and the last thing he needed was some sort of competion trying to buy away his buyers from his business. The bar had to fairly new in the area cause honestly he never heard of it before, never met the owner or anything; normally when new businesses comes to the area, Kujo makes his presence known to the owners and let's them know who runs the show around here, they could either get along with the program and pay him for staying on his turf or they could take their business elsewhere and never set foot on his turf again and most chose the correct choice so far....so how would this one go tonight? He shoved his hands in his pockets and made a beeline for the bar with his nervous partner in tow behind him, he didn't question Kujo or asked where they were going for he already knew where Kujo was leading him, there was a reason as to why Kujo had asked him to read up on the bar....it had to be something there that caught his interest the first time or....rather someone that runs the place had caught his attention and he needed to know what they were doing here and exactly why they were on his turf doing business without his knowledge.

  • Siger stood facing the fury of the sea, hands clasped together at the low of his back.

Body present, but the mind was far, far away.  Remembering when he'd been a boy not so long ago..

Running through these very halls with the other children, sneaking into Lurid's study whenever they got the chance, sneaking off the grounds to hunt until Uncle Christian managed to round them all up and escort them back.

He'd been an awkward thing then - all long limbs and large feet and sweaty hands, but he others had still looked up to him, respected him, and believed in him.  They followed him, when maybe they shouldn't have.  And now, as their Alpha, their King, they looked to him for answers..

    Answers he didn't have--

"Zi?" Came a heavily accented voice, as sweet and warm as a summer breeze.  Siger turned, masking his surprise behind a quirked brow.  His beta stood behind him -- her smooth, brown face canted to the side, full lips cracked with an arrogant smile, displaying her teeth like many members of the pack did to emulate Siger.

She had dark brown hair twisted up at the back of her head in a royal mess of a knot.  The girl never did like doing her hair.. Or.. anything feminine, for that matter.  At least that's what she claimed.  Siger knew better.

"Did I scare you?" She teased, dark eyes narrowing in on him as if she was scanning him for weakness.

He snorted.  "I though you were going home to check on your sister, Aiali'i?"

"Well, I was." Siger blinked when he became aware of what his second-in-command was wearing - a form fitting combat suit, fitted with highly durable plastic armored plates across on each shoulder, forearm, thigh, and calf.  It also covered the chest, torso, and groin as well.  Not like the sort of shitty armor you'd catch in film. "But then I figured, New Zealand is so faaaar away, and I don't want the pack missing me too much, y'know? That just wouldn' be fair.  Also! I spotted someone camping out in the woods, like.  Right outside the house.  Just thought ya should know."

Siger shook his head, hiding his smile by turning back to the sea. "I saw them."

He didn't know what to think when he first saw them, not so much hiding as announcing their presence to the whole of the forest.  His first thought had been, of course, that she was an invader.  But as time wore on, and he watched from afar, that didn't seem to be the case.

And he wasn't too worried - their were eyes all around her, at all times.  Eyes in the trees, in the darkest shadows, unmoving and breathless, waiting... waiting to become teeth.

The moment it was dark he slipped away from the Manor, alone, feet naked and chest bare, displaying the face of War upon his chest; and the grinning skull across his back, and all the ghosts of all the people he used to know trapped beneath the flesh on his arms, all for this stranger on his land.

Glowing, pale green eyes appear in the shadows long before anything else of him is visible, on Dolai, sweeping away when he glanced at his sides, gesturing in the dark.

There was a stirring sound from all around them, a chourus of fading growls and rippling paws upon the forest floor, fading, fading, fading until only there's only the buzzing of cicadas, the crackle of a fire, the scream of the wind over the ocean, and the sea itself crashing into the rocks, dominating the world.  Or so it seemed to a wolf.

A wolf in human skin who prowled into the starlight, an orange glow cast upon his feet from the fire-pit; his eyes reflecting the light in an eerie way as he looked across it to Dolai, his face a labyrinth of sharp angles and deep shadows.

"Why are you here?" He asked, which was chief among many questions bouncing around the inside of his skull at the moment.

  •    The librarian was as gentle as he could be but nerves were nerves and the pain recepters would be felt even as he considered a pain reliever, but with no proper education of her system, it would likely be useful as it was for even his own metabolism and some of his misfits too. He checked his work to make sure it would be enough and watched as she moved to get up, stepping back from her and going about wiping the blood off his hands while Lucille had disconnected her from the wire and also watched her, nervous, of the whole situation really. She worried for this woman. She worried for their home. She worried mostly for what made her home, home, and that was her family.

Hearing Dolai speak of these people only made something in her chest clench further. She had already felt the taint in her power and that coupled with her family out there with these people scared her, but now knowing they might be in the dark about these people? Knowing nothing but that for some reason they were after Dolai?

Vaughn met her eyes and the look he gave her only just calmed her before she went into a panic.

Then his gaze had turned to Dolai. " Right.. well--"he's cut off by the sharp shatter of glass beyond the room.

His jaw set firm and then with a mutter for them to stay here, he went out the door. He finds Art and Levi fighting off a few of these people down the at the end of the hall and near the dining room, where he presumes one of the windows had been shattered in the fight.. among other things now as the fight carried on.

Levi was pissed. They'd had them chasing them until seeing a break in the pack as a few of them had turned for the library again and now instead of distracting, they were defending. Art, only twelve, was enhanced and for a boy he could move and demonstrate a strength unlike any child his age should. He'd knocked one of them out the window. Levi, a vampire, was just as equipped in strength and was facing off two of them.

Vaughn watched for a moment and then heard more noises below with his werewolf hearing.

These people had infiltrated his home.. gotten passed his barriers.. with an almighty growl, the librarian disappeared down the other way..

This left Dolai with Lucille who'd heard the growl outside the door and gotbwide eyed muttering "shit" under her breath.

  • You know that one feeling when everything looks fine at first but something feels off? As if tiny pheromones carried through the wind reveals something is not as it should. At first, he didn’t even notice the mess. He just assumed it was his roommate who’d come home drunk and tried to find something for class, or vice versa. He closed the door behind him, locked it, and threw himself on the reading chair by the window with a deep sigh. The view was very… city-esque. But something about it had Kas’ affection. He enjoyed city life. It was so full of life, and people weren’t afraid of him. He picked up his phone. It was a Samsung. Older model, but not quite ‘old’ yet. He started going through social media - Tumblr in particular. He didn’t have many friends, or at least none that were mortal, so all the accounts he was following were art-accounts. Paintings, drawings and sketches, digital drawing, comics, fanfics, and the occasional smut because why not. As he began to scroll through his dashboard, that creeping feeling of something being off slowly made its way through his spine. Oh no, not fear… He quickly got up to start put things back in order. Perhaps it was just the mess that made him worry. Hopefully he hadn’t noticed his discomfort yet, and cleaning would surely cloud his fears and mix them with disgust instead.

It was then that Kháos noticed that it was not only his roommate’s stuff spread across the room, but his as well. Why would his roommate want to cause such a mess among his stuff? That had never happened before. He went to check if the windows were open - of course not, you weren’t able to open them enough for a depressed student to jump out of it. The dormitory had apparently had that thing happen once. Though, they’d contemplated making the windows incapable of open fully even before that event as some of the less composed students in the past had thought it would be great fun to climb on the outside of the building at parties. At the end of the day, the windows needed to be changed so that you could only open it enough for an adventurous cat to dare its nine lives. That was enough to ventilate the rooms during the warmth of summer - or if you just had other.. um, warm, activities. But enough about that damned window that a thief couldn’t possibly be able to come in through.

Then it hit him. The Box! Half, panicked, the young man reached underneath the wardrobe, his long hair covering his face, making it look like Cousin It was trying to peek in through the crack in the closet’s double doors. The closet was made from chestnut, and quite beautifully carved. It really held that early-mid-nineties hotel look. The gap between the floor and the bottom of the closet was about fifteen centimetres - or 6 inches. Just big enough to squeeze in a magic box. As Kháos emerged from his hysterical flailing for whatever was under there, he revealed absolutely nothing. Nada. It looked like he was holding something in his hands, but there was nothing there. Absolutely nothing. Not even the eyes of all-seeing Helios could see through the magic that hid the box. A very deep sigh of relief escaped the boy’s nostrils as he closed his eyes as to calm himself down. He ran his fingers over what was likely the lid of the box. He could feel by the weight of the box that the golden device was still inside. But he had to make sure…

He moved to his desk that was located under the bed that stood on tall legs, with a ladder next to the office chair. Contrary to the architecture and the closet, the desk was very modern. It was glass and metal, with a fairly standard laptop and wireless mouse adorning its paint-splattered surface. Kas put the invisible object on the lid of the laptop and softly whispered “Pithos Delos” in a perfect Greek accent, revealing that his mother tongue was definitely Greek - despite the words whispered actually being ancient Greek, but who could tell the difference? You’d have to be p r e t t y old to know the difference. The words seemed to generate a dark mist that revealed what looked like tiny tiny stars across the object until it slowly revealed a beautifully carved wooden box with spectacularly carved ebony. Though the wood was actually made from the very Night Sky, and the ebony was actually bones from the primordial Titanes Erebus, Kháos’ grandfather. Weird fuckin’ family. But his grandmother, Nyx, had made the box this way for good reason. Erebus’ bones also made up the locking mechanism, and only his descendants would ever be able to unlock it.

Kháos took a deep breath and reached for his keys that were tucked in his right pocket. His breathing got heavy as he firmly held up the key to his bike in one hand, and laid it upon the print-side of his index finger. Ouch time. A quick slash was enough to tear the skin open and reveal the divine liquids that rushed through his body daily. A reminder of his troubled past, and destined future. A reminder that he would eventually be responsible for the destruction of the human race. Yay! He pressed his bleeding finger on the box, the blood flowing excessively into every crack and crevice. Another word whispered, “Anoígo”. And that’s when the magic happened. Quite literally. It was as if the box folded into itself, pushing the contents up just an inch to make it more accessible. And that’s where it was. A metal orb of aged gilded surface, markings all over the surface that when exposed to the atmosphere began to glow a strong yellow-white hue, much stronger than any mortal’s lamp. As if someone had trapped the very sun itself inside a small gold orb. And if one paid enough attention, one could hear how things around the close proximity began to stir. People in the other rooms began arguing with each other, and it spread to the streets as well; loud honking, people shouting at passers-by. Kháos made a nervous nod towards the window and quickly took the box in both his hands and whispered to it once more; “Engýs!”, though just as calmly as the other times, despite the apparent worry reflected by his eyes. And with that, the box folded out to hide the Apple again. And as soon as he let go of the box, once more stars began to cover it as a dark aura began to hide it from mortal - and immortal - eyes.

Little did he know it was probably too late anyway…

You know that one feeling when everything looks fine at first but something feels off? As if tiny pheromones carried through the wind reveals something is not as it should.

  • The door to the Isola Rossa swung open ten minutes before 9pm revealing a pale timid looking man dressed in a suit and tie. He did not bother to make eye contact with anyone or go through the trouble of ordering a beverage. He doubted this place had anything he could drink anyway. Fortunately, that was the point. He picked the spot for the meeting this time knowing his company had never set foot inside. Malphas rarely spent his time in bars anyway. The young man chose a small booth to sit in with a good view of the front entrance. The kid was usually on time but he was especially antsy today. Monty HATED talking business, especially with someone like Malphas. The hybrid was easy going and truthfully easy to get along with but his connections made simple chit chat next to impossible. Monty kept to himself for a few minutes growing more and more uncomfortable as time went on. The sun had disappeared for the night a few hours prior and it had been pelting rain ever since. His coat had soaked up the majority of the moisture but he could still feel his suit clinging to his frame.

Shortly after 9pm the door to the Isola Rossa opened again this time revealing a much taller man wearing a grey T-shirt and a pair of black jeans. His boots were soaked and the bottom of his pants clung to his legs making it obvious he made no attempt to avoid the puddles outside. The mere sight of Malphas was enough to make Monty shake his head. He was far too relaxed for the vampire's liking. Unlike his companion, Malphas made no effort to avoid eye contact with anyone. Instead, he offered a genuine smile to anyone who bothered to give him a second glance. Nowadays he remembered to put his fangs away.

"Can I sit down?", he asked finding Monty's lack of enthusiasm amusing.

"Please do." Monty set his hands down on the table and wasted no time getting to the point. "I would appreciate it if you could keep your voice down and try not to draw any attention to our table. I do not need anyone listening to our conversation."

Malphas nodded allowing his smile to fall. "I understand. If this is about work I know what you are going to say. You and the others want to close the Coffin, right?"

Monty shrugged and leaned back in his chair. "The Diamond Coffin is no longer a safe location. Hunters are catching on. Even the humans probably have a clue. The last thing I want is for the visitors to be killed because of my own reckless decision to keep the place open. They are getting smarter you know?"

The hybrid's yellow eyes lit up at the mention of hunters. "Yes, I know. I am only asking that you give this decision some thought. The club has been around for centuries." He grabbed a drink menu as he spoke knowing the two were less likely to draw attention if they were drinking.

  •     It hurt some part of him emotionally to hear her distress. He didn't like hurting anyone, but it came with the territory if progress was to be made at all in her healing. He was not sure upon the language she spoke and for a moment that had distracted him, but not for long as he pulled back the guaze he had taken from the tray to use and staunch the bloodflow, pulling it back to replace until he saw that her skin was indeed knitting back together. So she did heal rather quick. Interesting. Still, he replaced the gauze, his hands covered in her blood, but the scent of it did nothing for him, even the beast had made itself attentive to the danger that was currently around them, endangering his pack.

He snapped himself out of his thoughts and got back to work. The ink had also caught his attention, but now was not the time to be so fixated on them. However, surely after if they got out of this alive, he'd likely ask after them.

As she spoke her name, he looked her in the eyes, then dropped them down to her thigh, telling Lucille to keep watch and apply pressure over the bullet wound under her ribs while he worked out the other bullet. When that came out, he did the same, applying pressure and giving the wound a chance to heal itself without her losing too much blood, or more than she's already lost. His jaw muscles flexed upon hearing her speak of the other members of his team. He was already worried, but he trusted them.

" They can hold down the fort for now.. Or at least give us enough time to fix you up. " These words made it evident he trusted those children even as they may be, besides Levi. They've dealt with tough situations many times before and have even saved the Librarian's ass a few times. He knew they could at least hold them off until they got Dolai situated to make for the next plan of action.

Looking back at her, he watched her vitals stay steady, though they could be better, but they weren't getting worse either for now. He pulled back the gauze to keep checking on the prgress of the healing. He'd try teaching himself some healing techniques in magic but alas, not much of anything had pulled through, his magic more in tune to Sarsk's creation with the ink hidden upon his back being his source of power.

    " But.. who are they?"

  •     He paid heed to her words after only a moment of looking her over in wonder of her nature. Just how fast could she heal? He may be a mage, but his practises had't given him much potential in the healing arts, but he did well with what he was given, however depending on her healing rate then this could be simply meassures he realized and for that he was thankful.

Nodding he glanced at Lucille again and then took the tools she handed him before stepping in closer to observe the wound just below her ribcage first and once getting a decent look at it he began to work at removing the bullet, sharp and precise work generally done by a man with power of focus and sure hands. He hardly even quickers when he feels that shift in his magic walls, something like a tingle along his back, too. Lucille being born a witch felt it much more and had kept in silence, watching Vaughn at work before she closed her eyes and swallowed thickly.

It was a little tricky, but Vaughn got the first bullet out and dropped it in a pan on the smaller table set nearby that Lucille ha retrieved earlier. It's lucky Vaughn had the tool to grab for it or otherwise that silver would be burning through his fingers, but he doesn't worry himself with such things as he watched to see just how well the wound would heal while moving onto the next bullet, doing much the same as to his skillful hand in removing it and dropping it by it's twin.

The monitor still keeping track of her vitals were the only sound for the time.. assuming she would indeed heal, Vaughn having his task complete moved onto the next one.

" Who are you?" As much as he wanted to help her, he still had others to protect here as well.

  •    He got his answer in that next moment as he watched her struggle. She was too weak, losing too much blood and he had to act quickly.

The boy was watching the woman but then he looked to the windows and then to the vampire next to him and started to make plans. He was young but he was clever and often took the lead when it was needed. Art declared him and Levi take the west while Hayden and Anna take the east and flank each other in the perimeter. Lucy would be left to assist Vaughn. They all glanced at each other and nodded before jumping into action.

Anna took hold of Hayden's arm and suddenly the two were gone.

Levi and Art took off the other way.

Lucille moved to take up the bag again and used her abilities to open one of the many portals to jump room to room, this one leading them into the infirmary; a windowless room old in looks and yet filled with updated medical equipment, upkept by Vaughn ever since his take in learning the medical field. Lucille having disappeared through the portal waited while Vaughn leaned forward to Dolai and spoke lowly to her, voice calm and gentle, about as gentle as he was in handling her.

" Let me help you. You'll be alright." With that he managed to get one arm under her legs while the other supported her back and had her lifted easily as though she weighed nothing. Then he was passing through into the other room, the portal closing behind him as he moved to lay her down on the table in the middle of the room. Once this is done, Vaughn is moving about asking for equipment which Lucille moved to grab as he checked Dolai's pulse. Next he was working to stop the bleeding as Lucille set up machines and hooked her up so they could better monitor her.

It's only when Vaughn has gotten ahead and started to stop the bleeding that Lucille spoke.

    " Do you feel it?"

Vaughn looked up at her for a slight moment before looking back down at his work upon Dolai. He didn't have to answer, that look had been all the answer she needed. Something wasn't right here..
