Born in the secluded forests of Kaladon, nestled in Russia, Maya led a relatively normal life among her tribe of Earth Fairies. Despite her elemental differences, her clan accepted her much as they had her mother years before. Maya lacked a mentor due to these differences, leaving her to only begin exploring her Fae abilities.
According to the past, Maya's mother descended from the Heavens long ago, once a Fae servant to the Angels but no longer. Her mother had found resonance with Lucifer's philosophy, a choice that led her through unprecedented trials.
Some speculate Lucifer's influence led to her mother's demise, while others attribute it to Ceres, Maya's mother, losing herself to the corruption of the Void. Nonetheless, Maya was left at a tender age when her mother departed on a perilous quest. Only now, as Maya ventures beyond Kaladon's Woodlands into civilization, does she begin to uncover the profound conflict that once raged on the very grounds she calls home.
The Golden Child..
50% Arabic / 50% Unknown
Not such a golden child after all. Not only was Maya's birth a complete accident, but it was also completely against her mother's will. Her father conducted cruel experiments on Maya's mother upon her capture, subjected her to unspeakable horrors, and manipulated her in order to create the "Perfect" Hybrid. Unfortunately, Maya was not the prize he sought.
Once her mother managed to escape to freedom, she kept Maya a secret from everyone except her Fae Clan. Despite Maya being conceived under the worst of conditions, Ceres still loved her dearly.
While Maya remains oblivious to this history, it's expected that one day she will uncover the truth. Perhaps the origins of her half-brother will come to light. Maya has run into her half-brother on several occasions. He never seems too far when danger is afoot but lately has respected Maya's demands to be left alone.
Her mother has left her specific instructions. Being the dutiful daughter she is, it's likely Maya will follow: "Find Jett, stay with him, and don't trust anyone else."
"The Stars, They Call to Me"
Maya is a Water Fairy, her abilities reflecting her elemental origins. Despite this, she holds a profound affinity for the stars. Fascinated and irresistibly drawn to them, Maya feels a connection that she cannot fully explain. Unbeknownst to her, this attraction may stem from her father's lineage. Despite her ignorance of her father's genetic contribution, her physical resemblance to him hints at a deeper, unexplored heritage.
Still in the early stages of her development, Maya has only begun to scratch the surface of her elemental abilities.
Abilities
Basic Water Magic: Maya's proficiency in Water Magic is still in its early stages. She can conjure small water spears and projectiles, but her control over these abilities is unstable and unreliable in combat situations.
Fairy Dust: Highly sought after by hunters and witches, Maya naturally produces fairy dust that collects on her wings and falls off when in excess. She has never used this dust on anyone and is unaware of its effects. It is rumored to be valuable on the black market..
Water Healing: Maya can harness bodies of water such as rivers and lakes to heal herself or others.
Water Dancing: A mesmerizing dance with limited practical effects. It is believed to alleviate minor ailments like poisons and sicknesses, and has a calming effect that can soothe weary souls.
Charm Dancing: Initially practiced for personal solace, this secret dance has revealed its alluring effects over time. Maya's movements can enchant animals and beasts more profoundly, while also inducing a sense of ease or, in some cases, exerting influence over others akin to a Siren's song. She has only used this ability on Jett at his request.
Once a coveted artifact known for its formidable power, the necklace was stolen from the King of the Stars and eventually came into the possession of Maya's mother, Ceres. Legend holds that the necklace was originally safeguarded by an ancient Ronin Tribe in the mountains of present-day Japan. Ceres cherished and protected this artifact with her life, relinquishing it only before the onset of the Great War.
In a ritual overseen by several Fae elders, Ceres entrusted the potent artifact to Maya, embedding its power deep within her. Though the physical necklace is no more, its formidable power remains dormant within Maya. However, Maya cannot wield this power herself. According to the elders' decree, the Talisman will only manifest its power when its bearer fully trusts someone to wield it.
Absolute LawThen & Now
Then: The Talisman of Absolute Law was once a fiercely guarded artifact, accessible only to those with extraordinary magical abilities and immense stamina. Possessing the power to compel lesser beings into unwavering compliance, the necklace was stolen by a servant to the King of the Cosmos to maintain balance and safety. Maya's mother, Ceres, acquired and safeguarded the artifact during this period.
Now: Currently resonating with Maya's soul, the Talisman has transformed into a latent power, its physical form dissolved into insignificance. Despite its diminished state, it retains formidable strength and mysterious abilities, accessible only to those Maya trusts implicitly. A hidden sigil, invisible to all but her trusted companion, gradually becomes more visible over time. When fully activated, the weapon can be summoned from the sigil located beneath Maya's neck, between her collarbones. Unaware of this hidden power, Maya unknowingly carries on the confidence her mother had in her. However, unbeknownst to Maya, the elders harbored an ulterior motive: upon Maya's death, the Talisman itself will cease to exist, marking the end of its luminous legacy.
Relationships and Meaningful Interactions
VASHARTI "VASH"| BROTHER | ALIVE
Maya's half-brother. Vash boasts a different mother, but he's yet to reveal who that is. Their recent meeting has been tentative, with little shared information between them. Despite Maya's lesser strength compared to Vash, he shows a surprising acceptance and protective instinct towards her. Vash is eager to introduce Maya to his home planet among the stars, which may explain her lifelong affinity for them.
Maya's protector, bound by a promise made to her mother in her final moments. Jett had not anticipated being entrusted with the care of a child, but he honors Ceres's trust without hesitation. Maya reciprocates by sharing stories of her mother, providing solace to Jett's soul. Recently, however, Jett has begun to slip into madness due to an undisclosed illness. This illness has caused him to act irrationally, even to the point of attacking Maya in a disassociated state. Maya has used her Charm Dancing abilities to soothe Jett during these episodes, a skill he had continually requested. Despite his illness driving Maya to flee from Jett's care for her safety, she remains steadfast in her vow to "fix him."
(My Retired Character of 9 years) Maya's Mother. Ceres cared for her daughter dearly and her quest for power was the final piece she needed to keep her daughter safe. Ceres ended up claiming the Void's power. This eventually drove her to gentle insanity. With a crazy plan to face the King of the Stars, Ceres and Jett eventually became Amir's downfall. This came at a cost; Ceres did not leave the battle alive. However, she entrusted Jett with Maya's wellbeing and happily said her final goodbyes knowing her daughter was free of her looming Father.
(Retired character of Vasharti's Player) Maya's father, Amir, a figure shrouded in darkness and never met by Maya. Ceres concealed Maya from him out of fear and kept her ignorant of his cosmic abilities. Maya bears physical traits of her father but lacks his cosmic powers. Though aware of his misdeeds and passing, she harbors no desire to delve deeper into his legacy or claim his abandoned title as King "Queen" of the Stars.

Salvation, after so very long of being kept here in the dark, he was going to be free. Whoever this divine soul was that came to his aid when none would answer, he is forever grateful. He will put his existence on the line for her after today. For now, the smell of her blood is rich under his nose, even though there was yet to bleed her. He was restricted of much because of his encasement but he would be able to feed regardless. Maya will soon come to understand that he had not fed in so long, instead, he was being kept alive by the vegetation within this very chamber. It sustained him enough that he wouldn’t be able to do much, such as escape. His jailor needed Santiago alive and should anything happen to him, then his tormentor would lose his true prize, Sasha.
When Santiago comes to taste the blood, he won’t be able to notice any difference in her blood. Be it celestial, cosmic, or ancient, simply because the vampire has been closed off to the ever-changing world. He’d known nothing but the demons that lay north of his lands. From where Sasha had hailed. All this, however, didn’t mean that his nature as a vampire has diminished or weakened, no. In fact, it was sure to grow and he will need true sustenance in the future.
Offering her wrist to him, Santiago’s lip quivered almost as if he were afraid of what might come after this. And so, he closes his eyes, parting pale lips to the fae’s offered wrist. With lips pulling back, it exposes the aching fangs that sought the fount of warmth that drew close. Sounds of a long since gone past floods him as there was nothing else but his thoughts and himself. Maya was at this moment, nonexistent, another voice calls to him, the sound to that voice was clearly overjoyed by seeing him finally waking up from what was a long sleep. Her voice alone wasn’t all that reached and touched him but her familiar softness and warmth as well. Speaking sweet nothings stirred him alive but it was the flood of the fae’s blood coursing through him. Like electricity, every fiber of his being was brought back to life.
“Wake up,” the voice said. Santiago’s eyes opened and his jaw did that too. Disengaging from the wrist he tucked his lower lip between his teeth. He didn’t want such a gift wasted, not a single drop. “Thank you,” he muttered to her in what is recognized as gratefulness. His many thanks, where no other would have possibly been able to aid the forgotten vampire in his plight.
Santiago shifts his shoulder, his eyes half-closed as he put his focus on freeing himself. It takes a moment to finally be able to muster the strength he'd been deprived of. The crackling of stone fills the air around the two and then the initial shatter as bits of stone cascade down his encasement and into the air. There's a groan from him, one of absolute relief of being able to move one of his legs. The other follows suit, taking a moment before attempting to move around. Closing his eyes again he is able to bask in relief, he'd drip his head back, pale blonde hair falling from his face. He'd part those blood-stained lips and sighed up at the dark nothingness above their heads.
Letting Maya's blood do its job, he'd let it reach the tips of his fingers, even his toes. It's only then that he knows he is mobile for the first time in nearly seven hundred years. Dropping his chin closer to his chest, he lands his gaze upon her, an arm-stretching outright towards her. "You have my undying gratitude. I owe you more than you can imagine." It was true and his tone was enough to tell her that he was being sincere with his every word. If not a man, then a creature of his word. Dropping his arm back to his side, he looks around. Golden duos are able to take in every dark corner, able to see right through the veil that would leave others walking blind. "It's best if we waste no time and get out of here. I do not know the structure of this place or what lies beyond, a world that is foreign to me. I've been here too long that I'm sure the world out there has changed dramatically." What he meant by his words was simply, guide me...for I am lost.
"Yeah? I was hungry."
Silence. That sounded rather defensive.
"It's not like I eat a human every day!"
That came out quieter this time with a low huff when the offer was refused another time.
The serpent shrunk back into the water, slit pupils dilating into wider gaps of black in anticipation. Rigid fins fluttered, already hearing the building commotion distances away, even before people started collecting near the shore. The moment the fairy noticed it, the townsfolk were already visible, silhouettes of a crowd forming and drawing closer, and she started wading into the waters. She finally disappeared beneath the waves, and the snake followed suit. If her eyes allowed her to see beyond the nightly darkness of the sea, this flitting pale beast slinking over to her direction will be no surprise.
"Please tell me you can breathe underwater!?"
Underwater, that airy voice sounded telepathic. It will resound inside the head of anyone it was directed to, echoing and bouncing about, and this time, it was directed to her alone. But they don’t really have much time to waste.
Her arm will be nudged, eventually. The serpent's massive snout was colossal compared to her delicate features, being in close proximity would almost make it seem like she was one easy prey. At least this one didn’t open its gaping mouth anymore, and it seemed to have a decent awareness of what amount of force to use to keep itself from injuring a figure so small. "Take away your wings for a while! I got horns– hold on!"
Only a moment will be spared to offer it. A head of sleek, pearly scales, adorned with a full crown of spiked opalescent horns at the top, some of them big enough for hands to firmly hold on to. If Maya finally took the offer this time and positioned herself just above its neck, the serpent will be off swimming deeper into the sea, using its lengthy body and its tail to slither forward. Away from the shores, deeper where the currents seemed calmer and hardly tousled by the breeze.
. . .
This felt familiar.
Whether it was good or bad, only one thing was certain– this wasn’t the first time anyone did this if the fey had accepted the offer. A pair of hands taking a hold of her horns, a weight of something small, fleeing and using her as a ride deeper into the waters. Clair can feel it stirring inside her, that profound sense of nostalgia that she couldn’t just shake off, and had no intention of doing so. It was always the little things that do that, usually the fleeting ones with the most impact.
The question that was posed earlier was probably unanswered, but the farther away they went, it was safer for the serpent to break into the surface, only to dive down once more. It seemed to be more focused on circling the perimeter of the island at a farther distance away from where patrolling boats couldn’t see them, and from there. For the most part, it seemed calmer with a full stomach and wasn’t all too worried about the people that were chasing them earlier in this watery domain.
Cova des Coloms was usually said to be one of the only sea caves on the island available – at least for most tourists to safely visit. This serpent that spent most of its days exploring beneath the waves would say otherwise, there were other uncharted passages that it finally found its way into for refuge, large enough for entry with apertures wide enough to meander in and out.
A few twists and turns were made, and after a long while of silence, the waters in this area were noticeably calmer. A breach to the surface will be made, and the fairy will be deposited into the banks of a massive limestone cavern. It was closed and somehow dark, perfect for an aquatic beast to box itself– save for a few cracks at the top that allowed shafts of moonbeams to filter in. From what little light could be perceived, stalactites hung over the cavern’s ceilings, some already forming massive columns of minerals down upon the floor. Jagged stalagmites sprung forth on sections, but there were many areas that were either smooth or bordered with soft sand.
It seemed like any other limestone cave tucked away deep into the coasts, except for a pile of human items stashed on one close corner near the rocks. Most of them looked like bundles of clothing.
What now? The serpent seemed to be debating if bringing someone here was a good idea, but then, winged water folk wasn’t something that one sees every day.
“Don’t slip, and don’t get your toes stubbed.”
Dropped some threads. Not proud of it, but needed to focus on the stuff that's entertaining and moving my character forward!
If your name isn't on my profile's Thread section, I've chosen to drop our thread. There's no hard feelings at all. In fact, I hope we can write again in the future. Maya is a fresh character and I find myself being pulled towards certain people to help me BUILD her. The threads left are currently my Main storylines, while our threads ( If dropped) were side stories or small adventures in between large gaps of main. For this reason, I need to put those threads on the back burner until Maya is more well rounded!
Thanks everyone ^-^
― A change of hands
Hunters were after her but it is a vampire that saves her. Save for the bite he'd taken from her and a fair amount of that fae blood that from what he saw firsthand, was addicting. He had had to pry the vampire off of her when he had attempted a second go on the girl. Mammon had been moving around when he found himself here, near the facility where the vampire's doctor was staying. They both had remained quiet and under the radar, with good reason. There came a time when the vampire would go about his own and lose his mind, attacking anything that seemed wounded or weak to a vampire's bloodlust. He had good reason for being here but that is a tale for another day. For now, Maya was now in Mammon's care. If one could call that good care. Maya had gone from a pair of fangs to a pair of wings, which, thrust as they moved through the air.
She was coming around and that drew his attention. They needed to land then, he thought as he touched ground up top a random building. Left foot first then the other. He had yet to say something, letting her find her bearings and focus. When she is able to, she will find herself in someone else's company, someone she probably forgot by now. He'd left a little something with her before disappearing. Maya had been left to fend for herself, given that she had made it clear she was more than capable? When Mammon had left, she'd stumbled upon a vampire, who, funny enough was tied to someone Mammon was an acquaintance to. That aside, you could say it's a small world. Of sorts.
Mammon recalls the initial thought but did he really need to cage the little fae? Inwardly he shook his head to the thought. Rather than pets, he needed to increase his following and those that could possibly strengthen the very foundation he was building. Could he possibly use a fae like this? Time would tell. For now, he had to take responsibility? Sometimes he humors himself, bringing a faint grin to his face. While it didn't seem that Maya was yet fully aware of herself, he stepped off the ledge of the rooftop and into the air both went again. It doesn't take long before he's hauled her elsewhere entirely, say his loft. There were no shady intentions behind him doing so, he simply needed her off the streets and attention drawn away from both her and himself.
Once inside, he places her on the couch, while he wandered off to get her a glass of water...
-appears from behind-
Me? disappear? You are mistaken. I like hiding in shadows, fairy.
But alas, what kind of news would you like?
Santiago's eyes rolled back, not simply because this was the first in so, so long that he'd seen another other than his jailor. Or the jailor's servant, but because this might be his first-ever escape. To be free, he thought and finally plot his revenge and what's more, retrieving his Sasha. Who knows where she is but what he does know, is that she is close by. How close? He isn't sure.
The fae was a breath of fresh air, a light in this eternal darkness he has been prisoner to for so long. Santiago was impervious to the sunlight but given he has not seen it in so long, who knows what sort of effects it might have on him now. He will just have to see, eventually.
Upon hearing her voice and her approach, he opened his eyes, casting their gaze upon the fae. "Maya," he said as if he'd known her in some other lifetime. Much like knowing his name, it was just there in her memory, rising to the occasion.
The curse upon him wasn't something trifle, it was old. Even though it seemed like a common practice amongst others of her kin or friends. Every spell carried something different, say, the ingredient or a countermeasure should someone attempt to tamper with this spell or that. His own eyes follow the curious hand, the stone seemed almost ancient and it vibrated to her touch. Though it was a reaction Santiago himself could not feel, being that he was encased in it but not part of it. Strange enough.
"What do I do now?" Her question was expected and he had an answer to that. He was still a vampire and because he hasn't fed on living blood in so long, he was unable to free himself from this hell. Santiago hadn't expected a fae to answer his plea and he isn't sure what manner of effects her blood might have on him. The last blood he'd taken was that of his demonic wife, Sasha. It had sealed his fate that day but he was also deprived of her that same day, having fallen prisoner and his likeness and very existence substituted by the likes of the devil who holds him here.
"Blood," he said to her. Surely she knew by now what he was, that when he spoke, fangs were evident. Though concealed partially due to his pale complexion. Blood was going to be the second step to his attempt of getting free and out of here, with her help of course...
"Hmm?"
