Malory wasn’t a kid who believed in magic—the tooth fairy, Santa Clause—that was all a bunch of nonsense to her. Those things just weren’t real to her, despite how hard her mother tried to stop her from spoiling Christmas for her younger brothers. When Malory was fifteen, her parents divorced, and her mother took full custody of Malory and her younger twin brothers, Simon and Jarred. No longer being able to afford their home in upstate New York with her income, Malory’s mom packed up the kids and moved them to Maryland, where Malory’s great, great uncle had left a house to the family. Arthur Spiderwick had disappeared one afternoon nearly seventy years ago, and left the house to his closest living relative. That was his daughter, Lucinda, who had been a little girl when he disappeared, but she had been put into a series of care homes after spouting a bunch of nonsense about her father being taken away by fairies and goblins living in the woods around her house, leaving the house to Malory’s mother.
The first week in that house changed Malory’s life forever.
Thankfully, with Malory now convinced, Jarred and her were able to save Simon. The three of them were given the Sight perinatally by a hobgoblin—he very kindly spit in their faces after eating a roasted cat, their roasted cat—making it easier for them to fight the battle they had gotten themselves into. Trolls and goblins sent by Mulgarath terrorized the Grace siblings, their house, their mother. The conclusion of the battle columnated at the Grace family’s new house, ending with their house completely ransacked, filled with dead goblins, and Mulgarath, thankfully, dead, eaten by previously mentioned hobgoblin.
Mulgarath was dead, and as far as they knew, the information about Arthur’s book wasn’t spread farther than all the beings that were now currently turning into mush on their kitchen floor. The book was safe, and they were safe. Mostly. Now that they knew about this world, they were a part of it, especially Malory. With her experience in fencing and sword fighting, she became the main hunter and protector of the family. Jarred, when he became an adult, learned how to use a variety of guns, letting him help Malory hunt. Simon, on the other hand, became the researcher of the Grace kids, adding onto their great, great uncle Arthur’s research. Though this time, they kept it a lot more secretive—they didn’t want another battle with an ogre.
Now, ten years later, Malory is the only one who still lives in the house where all of this started.
At the age of twenty-seven, she was the last member of her family to still live at the estate in Thurmont, Maryland. Her brother Jarred had moved to Northern California, where he kept an eye on the giant and dragon populations. There was a very delicate balance to maintain between the two species that had a habit of killing each other. Simon, on the other hand, had moved back to upstate New York with her mother Helen. Simon got a job with computer programming, and Helen was writing a series of short stories and novels that just happened to reflect real life events a bit too much for Malory’s liking. Especially when she was the one creating the illustrations for said stories.
Malory was…just a bit of an outcast. The people of Thurmont weren’t cruel to her—aside from the odd kids that kept sneaking onto her property—but they definitely kept their distance. Something always weird happened around the Spiderwicks, ever since her uncle had gone missing and his daughter spouted stories about fairies until her dying days. Then Malory’s little family showed up, and well…you shouldn’t cross paths with a black cat or walk under an open ladder, and you shouldn’t talk to the family who speak with monsters. Malory was avoided by most anyone in the town, only a handful of the citizens either didn’t care about her family’s history, or believed her. Chuck, the owner of the local secondhand book shop in town, had his own share of witnessing the strange and unusual. Hell, he even had a brownie living in his shop, who kept the place clean and free of moths. The creature was shy, though, and both him and Malory had only caught glimpses of it, despite all the honey Malory had tried to bribe it with. Chuck was probably the closest person Malory had to a friend, though they didn't hang out outside of the shop.
"Are you sure you're human?"
Malory had been asked this by a Tree Elf that lived in the woods around Malory's house once. The elf had been alive for nearly a century, not wandering much farther than the roots of their birth tree, but Malory saw them often enough while hunting in the area. Of course, Malory's innitial respone was "Of course I am, what else could I be?" And didn't think about it much farther than that. The Tree Elf didn't elaborate, and Malory moved on. Malory didn't have any reason to believe she was anything other than human, and she honestly forgot the conversation shortly afterwards.
Though Malory was unaware, there could be a case made that something wasn't quite...normal, with her.

She smiled softly and placed her hands over Malory's and wrapped her wings around her. Pulling Malory into her demonic embrace as she placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Zura would always be attracted to her precious Malory and it was true. Demons and humans had very different standards, especially where physical appearance was concerned. There were plenty demons who were not picky. Such as a persons looks or their soul. Demons hardly got licky when it came to a human soul. One was usually as good as the other. Zura cared about Malory. She did find her attractive yes, but her attitude also was something she enjoyed. Malory being stubborn, sometimes quick to anger, usually so serious, sometimes hard to have humor, but she worked on Malory being able to take a joke and laugh every now and then. And her job was fascinating to Zura as well. Zura would always desire Malory, in one way , or form, or another.
"No worries. I won't scare your family. I'll leave that to our daughter, infant of terror. Hahaha and don't worry my love. Even if your belly swells with out child and maybe you get an embarrassment moment from flatulence and don't feel attractive. I'll be here to comfort you and tell you otherwise. Zura gave her another kisses and slowly ran her hands over Malory's body before she unwrapped her wings from her and removed the tail that coiled around her waste. She took her hand and lead her to the kitchen so she could make her a milkshake and cheeese bread and work on the steaks for her. All while talking to her and staying in her demonic form.
" Hmmm I can calm myself if you want. If I was pregnant that is. Maybe next time it will be me or maybe is both at the same time. If you want to have another chance at feeling life grow inside of you. I'm sure our child will love you dearly. She is our first born. My firstborn. She will be a special child, likely have both of our attitudes and behavior. Unfortunately, I don't have a spell yet to help with the whole peeing thing that all pregnant women suffer from. But, I can help remove the morning sickness by replacing it with something else, like sneezing. You wouldn't have an issue with that right? Trade having to puke every so often or however it is for human women and relaxing the vomiting with sneezing instead. Not sure I can remove nausea without any side effects of the pregnancy, but I can substitute it for something else. Sometimes, it is easier to swap one thing out for another, then to remove it entirely and not pay a price for it. I think sneezing over buying your head in the toilet, is a far better deal then being stuck suffering as other human women do. I could try to find something to ease the bladder issue but that will take a bit more time. Just let me know what you want my love. I want to be a good wife and mother and you bless me with this child. I want to make sure the pregnancy isn't more trouble then it's worth. You know I hate to see you suffer. Emotionally , physically, or otherwise. As for the killing thing. Well like I mention once before. I haven't killed anyone since we started dating. So it took me some time to learn that particular skill set since demons are made to hurt people, not heal people. Hence, I needed yest subjects. But it's all over now. I mastered the healing arts. Least when it comes to you , my love. So I haven't harmed a human since. Aside from giving them a brown river flood if they pissed me off but nothing to hospitalized someone over, just make them suffer bone crushing public humiliation. Which is always satisfying for me to see. But I haven't hurt hurt anyone in a long time. I been too busy working on being able to get you pregnant in the first place and our vacations we had, getting this place, preparing for the baby to come, yadda yadda. Zura smiled as took Malory's left hand and placed it over her heart while using her other to pull her closer.

Zura said with such warmth and affection as she nuzzled her face against Mallory's like an animal. Something she tends to do among her other behavioral animal like quirks that she had.

It makes me think of this joke phrase I heard from Buffy show from Spike who said how women marry serial killers all the time and how joker in new harley show. Made mention he could be a surbuban dad cause plenty of dads are serial killers. I am a demon and have killed people. So in a way, I am a serial killer but I am a demon. So I'm not held accountable the same way humans are. There is no such thing as jail or prison for angels and demons. Well except of course for spots in heaven or hell that is but no such prisons exist on earth for us. Hell is kinda like a prison already, a huge one. "
Zura would place a hand on Malory's cheek as her tail would slowly wrap around Malory's waist and pull her into Zura's tender embrace as her wings would fold around them as Zura simply hugs Malory and kisses her cheek.
"I thank you for accepting me. Malory. But think of me like Dexter Morgan. I only go after bad people. People who won't really be missed by anyone. Hehe I really enjoy that show Dexter, my favorite serial killer for sure. Beside steak, anything else you hunger for? Beside some sex that is. "
She smiled softly and thought she felt the baby kick when her tail wrapped around Malory's waist. Likely it might be that the baby felt the demonic tail of its other mother touching her human mother and just reacted to it. Zura thought it was cute.
"Hmmm think our baby felt my tail on your belly and responded. I can see her wanting to hang or swing from it once she is born. Like a little monkey or kitty. Hahahaha. Tell me what you are thinking. And what do you think of me in this form and what thoughts do you have about my wings and my tail. I want to know what you are thinking. I hope my horns and demonic features don't freak you out. When Malory picked her up. She would give her a kitty kiss and purr softly. Then when she was placed down and had chicken added to her bowl. She would begin eating the food in her bowl with much ethusiam. She was done in record time and llicks her lips with a purr. At the question of her being a normal kitty and not some orgre or something else in disguise. She would nod and reply.
