He is rarely seen without his Ravenfae Tunic, a garment crafted from enchanted leather and feathers that ripple like liquid shadow.

He was a younger prince of a fractured court during the Era of Shattered Beaks, a time when the Raven Court was nearly hunted to extinction by the Solar Fae. While his kin hid in the canopy, Kaeldyr descended into the Abyssal Roots of the World Tree. There, he brokered a pact with the Primal Crow, sacrificing his mortality for the power to command the shadows.

In a single night, known as the Night of Soft Feathers, he liberated his people, weaving a veil of permanent twilight over their kingdom to protect them. He took the name Shadowraven to honor the fallen and has ruled with a "velvet iron" grip for three millennia.
