Natt was assigned to the Fé Flickan: Fairy girl, to guard her, or rather babysit her. The Blodkatt had her ears flat against her head, and her mental voice in Eric’s head was too loud. She complained to him about it. It did no use; he overrode her and made it a command, as her maker. She had no choice now, once he invoked the "Maker Command". She drew in a sharp breath and let it out, mentally projecting her resignation and obedience to the task given to her. She guessed it was better than dealing with werewolves all day.
But dogs were almost worse than werewolves. They all just wanted to play with the “kitty,” and that was embarrassing. Though some humans thought it was amusing, she didn’t find it amusing at least once. It was downright beneath a Blodkatt. She didn’t mingle or play with domesticated furballs. Unless it was an order, from Eric or rather through him, and told by Sookie. Which was the case.
Sookie had come to “collect” her, in her yellow car. The stereo was the first thing Natt had heard, before the scent of the girl reached her nose. She was sitting on the dais, claws digging into the cushion, as she waited for the punishment. That was what she thought it was-punishment-for what? She had no clue. Maybe it was a joke or just Eric wanting to protect the fairy. She didn’t question it. She just endured it.
The car door opened and creaked shut as Sookie climbed out of it and walked briskly into the bar. She paused and looked around, spotting the cat, who looked like she wanted to scratch her. Sookie let out a long sigh and stared Natt down. She told her not to make a fuss over this arrangement, that if she behaved herself and as told, she would be rewarded with a new blend of catnip blood that Sookie had been working on for her. But it was only if she behaved. At the mention of the new treat. Natt unflattened her ears slowly and even rose more slowly to a standing position.
Natt slid down the dais to the carpet and then, in a black smoke, was beside Sookie. She projected her mind to her, letting her know of her displeasure with the task, and that if Sookie dressed her up in anything, she would shred her favorite blouse or break her favorite mug. Sookie, on the other hand, laughed it off and made the deal. Knowing full well that Natt would do it. Sookie mentally told her that it was time to go and that she had to go work at Merlottes. Natt, of course, protested. The Stinky dog place? Her eyes grew wide, and then settled back down. Fine, was all she projected to the telepath.
The two left the bar and entered the yellow car. Sookie buckled up and motioned for Natt to do the same. Human police demand everyone buckle up if you’re riding in the front as a human, and if you’re a cat? I would have to place you in the carrier. Natt flattened her ears, hissing a few times, and shifted to her human form. Roughly grabbing the seatbelt and putting it on. She had shadowed herself in black pants, a matching shirt, and shoes. So she would pass as human. At least until they entered Bom Temps. Then she shifted back to her cat form and reluctantly put herself in the cat carrier. Closing the door herself. She projected her mind to Sookie. There, you happy now? The words sharp and full of anger.
Sookie ignored it and drove until they reached the parking lot, got out, and grabbed the carrier, jolting the seething cat inside back and forth against the sides. Be gentle. She snapped at her mind. I am just shut up, you overly dramatic furball. Behave. Natt shot back, fine. Before she turned around as best as she could a few times and settled into the carrier and the blankets as Sookie brought them inside the bar. She walked up to the counter and put the carrier down.
The strong scent of dog reached her nose as Sam peered into the slots, looking in at her. She let out a snarl and lashed out at him. Get away, mangy dog, she projected into his mind, like a crack of a whip. Sam grabbed his head in pain and stumbled before crying out in pain. What the Hell? He shouted out loud. Sookie, what the Hell did you bring? Sookie explained who and what she was and that she had no choice. She quickly and mentally snapped at her and told her that that was strike one, two more and she would lock her in the car the rest of the day, no snacks or anything.
Natt apologized to the dog, not sincerely though, just enough to please the two people she knew had felt the insult the most. They, of course, forgave her, but also warned her not to do it again. Sookie got to work, leaving Natt in the carrier, where she slept most of the day away, in little catnaps. Two-hour intervals, only opening her eyes to briefly watch Sookie through what little of a peek hole she had.
She grew rather bored, as the day slowly crept forward into the evening. Sookie had not let her out of the cage, nor had she given her anything to eat. She projected the thought of food to both Sam and Sookie, who both gasped in horror and quickly left to make a meal for her. They came back with a blood catnip soup bowl and a cake with whipped cream on it, cat-friendly. They undid the cage locks and let her out.
Natt climbed out, ears still pressed to her skull in seething anger. She slid down the counter to the floor carpet and to the other side of the bar, to the far corner of it, so she wouldn’t be in anyone’s way, and began to eat the food and dessert quietly. Once done, she sat cleaning her fur, licking her right paw and rubbing it over her face. Making sure she didn’t miss anything that clung to her fur or whiskers.
She returned to the cage and slept until it was moved again, and this time when she opened her eyes, she was in the middle of a dog park, the cage on a bench seat, and the door opened. The dog park? She yowled into Sookie’s mind, I thought you were joking. She narrowed her eyes and then let out a huff as she exited to look around.
Sookie told her that she had to play nice. And she shot back Only if they do. She climbed out and stretched her legs before a massive Great Dane came over and sniffed her. She smacked the dog’s nose a few times. He backed away, yelping in terror. She kept up the act too, until Sookie finally picked her up, and she went rigid in her arms. Come on lets go, she had another shift to work, and this time she told Natt to behave.
Natt obeyed and sat in the carrier until Sookie was done with work, and the last customer had left. Sookie locked her back up, locked up the bar, and they left for her Fangtasia. Sookie stuck her in the front seat in the carrier, and drove the few hours back to the club. Which was now hopping with vampires and humans alike. Eric was in his chair and laughed inwardly as he communicated with Natt mentally. While Pam was busy at the bar buffing her nails and looking bored until she saw the Faye carrying the cage. A smirk rested on her lips as she vamped in front of them, stopping Sookie in her tracks and dropping the cage. The door opened, and Natt shot out of it in smoke. Gliding towards her Maker and settling in his lap in her kitten form, purring and kneading his pants all the while mentally protesting about the day to him.

▶ Summary of Post: Eric invokes the absolute authority of the "Maker Command," forcing a thoroughly disgusted Natt to accept a protective guard duty assignment over Sookie Stackhouse. To secure her cooperation, Sookie negotiates using a specialized catnip blood blend as a bribe, though Natt immediately counters with a sharp mental warning threatening to shred Sookie’s favorite blouse or break her mug if any undignified outfits are attempted. The commute to Bon Temps requires Natt to navigate human seatbelt laws in human form before reluctantly folding herself into a cat carrier, and upon arrival at Merlotte’s, she immediately lashes out telepathically at Sam Merlotte when he peeks into her carrier, earning a quick reprimand from Sookie. After spending the day alternating between naps and peering through the carrier holes, Natt is placated when Sookie and Sam bring her a cat-friendly bowl of blood-catnip soup and whipped cream cake, though the ordeal later continues with a trip to a local dog park where she swats a curious Great Dane on the nose. Finally carted back to Fangtasia by the end of the evening, Natt’s containment ends when Pam drops the carrier near Eric’s throne, allowing Natt to explode out in a streak of black smoke straight to her maker’s lap, purring in contentment while simultaneously unloading every bitter grievance of her day into his mind.
