☀ A Bit of Background ☀

The tall trees of the Pacific Northwest towering overhead was Aesa’s earliest memory, mingled amongst those of her father, brother, and grandfather. Her mother had left when she was small and she had no true memories of her. Thorin, her brother, spoke of her sometimes, but never in a loving manner. There was no sense of regret for not having known her in Aesa’s mind. Envy. Envy would come to be the feeling she associated with any thought of her mother as a child. The woman had managed to get out of the Larsen household while she could.

Even if she’d wanted to feel more things about her missing mother, life didn’t give her the luxury. From a young age, her grandfather, James, was hard enough to handle on his own. A retired mentally ill army veteran, discharged due to his mental issues, who enjoyed taking out his bad moods on his son and grandchildren. When she was a toddler, her father did his best to keep her safe, though she still ended up with bruises on her arms shaped like her grandfather’s hands from time to time. He didn’t believe in treating anyone with kid gloves, even a child.

Despite his discharge, he was obsessed with the military and tried to get each member of his family to join at various points over the years for the ‘honor’ of their family. Aesa’s father, Alvis, had been turned away due to chronic health issues. Thorin flat out did not want to join. He had a hard time with authority figures and Aesa had heard him tell their father that he didn’t want to leave Aesa alone with only Alvis for protection. Their grandfather was insulted and took the refusal and rejection personally. Thorin and her father both paid for it in subtle ways for years to come. Aesa was even urged to join when she was in fourth grade. Urged to join the JROTC when she was old enough, but she had taken an interest in martial arts and was hyper focused on it. He insisted she’d change her mind when she was older, but she never did. Though, looking back, it might have been better if she had.

As the refusal’s rolled in he decided that he’d train the two children in every form of fighting and weapon that he knew. Their father gave no protest, ignoring the dangers to his pre-teen daughter and barely teenaged son. If their grandfather was focused on them, then Alvis had some peace and quiet from the verbal abuse of his father. It was a generational curse. One that their father didn’t have the strength to break and they siblings were too young to do anything about except endure.

While still a young girl in elementary school, James became involved with one of the local motorcycle clubs. There were numerous in the area, but he gravitated towards the one with the worst reputation and longest rap sheets in town. The group, called The Horsemen, was lead by a young man called Griffin. Aesa never heard his real name, but his nickname drove fear into her early on. It took no time for her grandfather to start helping Griffin run things. His retirement and disability money being funneled into the MC more than the bills he had to pay or putting food on the table. When her father, who worked a full time welding job, confronted him about it James assured him that it was an investment and soon none of them would have to work ever again.

It didn’t take long before her father had quit his job and joined the Horsemen. Their grandfather had been right about them not working a job again, but not because they were rich. Her father soon had a record that kept him from being hired at most jobs. The families only sources of income coming from the jobs that the MC pulled or Thorin’s shifts at the local fast food joint. Thorin considered dropping out of high school to work full time and take care of Aesa, but she was in middle school now and understood what was happening. She refused to let him drop out. They would never get away from their grandfather without at least a basic education. They might not be A students, but they were trying. The drop in their grades due to not turning in homework. When did they have time with training, him working, and them having to occasionally bail their father out of jail. Thorin tried to stay out of working for the Horsemen, but the fast food work wasn’t cutting it and they were about to lose their house. He began to do small jobs himself on the side once he turned eighteen..

Her father was lured in by a particularly high paying job the night of Aesa’s sixteenth birthday. She and Thorin waited at home for him to show up to celebrate, but instead they got a call that he’d been shot and was in the hospital. Thorin was taken off by the police to discuss the situation with their father since he was known to be involved with the MC. Aesa wasn’t left sitting with their father in the hospital, but she wasn’t alone for long. Members of The Horsemen showed up and escorted her to the MC headquarters. There, her grandfather and Griffin, informed her that she’d be taking her fathers place. She was too scared to say no. The only bright spot she found was that her grandfather bought her her first motorcycle and she fell in love.

From there, it was job after job. She managed to stay in school, but once she graduated, college was out of the question with lack of fund and her own record. She’d already watched Thorin go through the same thing, losing scholarships because of his juvenile record. Training until late hours of the night when they didn't have jobs to run. So, it became more work and more crime with stiffer consequences now that they were both adults. Griffin took too much interest in her once she turned eighteen and she made every effort to never be alone with the dangerous MC leader.

Thorin got out first. The MC saw him wreck a bike over a mountainside and assumed he was dead. They drove off without looking back. When he limped home, he begged Aesa's forgiveness for wanting to leave, but she told him to run. Even helped him pack. It took until she was twenty-seven to get out and a well placed bullet.

Now she was in a new city, trying to make a new life with the skills she'd learned. Teaching self-defense to women and children so they had a better chance of fighting back against thugs like she'd grown up with.

☀ The Details ☀

Aesa is quick with a smile and comes across as lighthearted, but there’s a shadow in her blue eyes. One she’ll brush questions away about every time. She loves to go out with friends and have fun, be it karaoke, dancing, drinking, or out for a drive. It’s hard to get into the category with friend with Aesa. She tends to keep people at arm’s length due to trust issues, especially when it comes to people she’s supposed to be able to depend on.

Most of the time her blonde hair, which earned her the nickname Sunshine from her brother, is down. If she’s working or working out, then she’ll jerk it up into a ponytail to keep it out of the way. She’s tall and athletic, but her style is hard to pin down. Some day’s it’s leggings or jeans with oversized shirts, while other’s it’s a nice dress and heels. When she’s working, exercise clothes are the order of the day, unless it’s a non-class day and she’s meeting with new clients then it’s business casual.

Aesa has a real problem with being able to say no to a dare, at least non-lethal ones. Unless he’s had too much to drink, then she might say yes to those too. It’s how she got her first tattoo, which was a small sun on her right pinky finger. She was immediately addicted, now people usually see the raven on the inside of her left wrist first.

People guess she’s a fan of Edgar Allen Poe or it’s book fanart, but it’s rare that someone guesses right about it’s origin. When people find out its to represent Odin and that she’s a pagan they either grow intensely interested or give her a wide berth. If they take an interest, she’ll share about the Freya bindrune that runs down her spine between her shoulder blades, or the knotwork style snake she has for Loki on her thigh. Her relationship with Loki is new and small, so she doesn’t talk about him much.

She almost always drives her motorcycle, though she has a small crossover that she drives if it’s too cold or raining. That makes her most common accessory her motorcycle helmet. Beyond that it’s a 9mm in her purse for moments when her fighting skills might not be the best option. There’s often a knife strapped to her leg somehow depending on how she’s dressed and black gloves in her purse in case of emergency. As well as bandages and painkillers.

Her tendency to jump first ask questions later, especially when it comes to helping people in trouble, often ends her up hurt and bleeding. Aesa doesn’t have it in her to walk away when she sees someone being abused or bullied. She’ll jump in and help, even if it’s just to give them someone else to beat on so the other person can get away.

Out Of Character

  • About the Author You can call me Luna. Any and all friend requests are welcome as are plotting requests.

I'm an aspiring author. I am disabled, so usually home and online in some fashion. I have a number of books in progress. One is going through the beta reading stages and the others are still being written when I have the focus. I love to write darker RP's where characters are in tough situations, though I also enjoy lighter things like slice of life stuff. I have a character creation illness that I'm trying to keep in check, but the struggle is real.

(I have four other accounts atm, Nicky, Sam, Dalinda, and Freedom, that are also available for plotting.)
