"Life is one long struggle in the dark."

It was a long, long night. When it had ended, he found himself rousing from a horrid sensation. His muscles, his veins, his very being, simultaneously screaming out to the transmutation that was occurring... yet upon conclusion, he felt none. A man lost his life that night. He fell into a deeper, darker abyss than he could have ever thought in romanticizing death among the living. He could have never expected what would come next for him. He could not possibly fathom his fate from then on. It mattered not what he could perceive. It hardly mattered whether he had a desire to wake up or not. He did.

Dominic's life both started and ended in England. The earlier parts of his 'newfound' life were spent there as well, initially in the care of a small coven that populated the outskirts of a town in the Northern region. It was a time of recklessness and little control, inevitably laced with bloodshed just as any newborn would encounter. These years were spent with the aid of a mentor, to whom he owes most of his self-restraint and control. Three and a half centuries would pass before he eventually left the group for his own reasons. Those times are still begrudgingly close behind him within his history. Although he evades giving a physical number, Dominic's age resides somewhere just over five hundred years.

+ Strengths

⚜ Like any other vampire, Dominic possesses a physical ability that surpasses humankind, and his physical strength is something misleading by appearance. Without the hindrances of a mortal body, he moves at a speed that is quicker than human eye can percieve as his muscles fire faster.

⚜ His body is also far more durable after the change, including how he handles impacts and general pain tolerance. Extreme heat and cold within a certain threshold is not a bother. It takes something immense to break bones or cause injury

⚜ Enhanced senses give him an acute radius of what is around him, including sight, hearing, and vision. He can trace a heartbeat for nearly a mile if the conditions are right, and doesn't forget a scent once he has crossed a person. He was once hypersensitive to all of this, but with age he has learned to hone in and filter his senses for less distraction.

⚜ In the chance that he is injured, he heals at a quicker rate that is dependant on the last time he has fed. Healing also takes more energy and leaves him hungrier quicker as a result. He runs the risk of growing adgitated and increasingly dangerous depending on this.

- Weaknesses

⚜ Sunlight serves as a harsh irritant. He finds himself out in broad daylight only on rare occasions, no longer than an hour span of time, and not without consequences. It is common to find the man with a hood over his head, hands in his pockets in order to prolong this time and reduce the side effects. Overcast days are tolerable but not comfortable.

⚜ Blood from a source that is deceased may lead to sickness if it enters his system. Animal blood by nature works in a similar fashion due to the biological differences to that of human, yet the effect is minimal enough to be tolerated. Other circumstances vary by source, where some bloodlines can be priceless.

⚜ Silver in its purest form can serve as fatal. Although he carries items of such material in Paradox, he is overly avoidant to being the one to handle them. The jewelry he is often accustomed to wearing is white gold or platinum.

Let's not forget the legends,

⚜ Dominic feels no weakness from garlic besides the scent being overpowering (Frankly it's rude to go waving it in anyone's face).

⚜ Holy water and crucifixes are irritating in principle, but do no physical harm.

⚜ He shows up in reflections and photography, but not if he can help it. It's gotten harder in the digital age to avoid leaving a trace.

⚜ He can be killed with a stake or any other blunt object through the heart, but you'd best aim your shot properly. You won't likely get another one.

Hunting

⚜ Dominic waits no longer than three days between feeding and grows exponentially more dangerous from there on afterwards. There is still an underlying instability that comes with his age and 'upbringing', one that has him often questioning his sanity towards moving to the city.

⚜ While he prefers human blood over attempting a more 'vegetarian' route, he takes little pride in the concept of hunting out strangers after dark. Leaving it to the last resort, his first and foremost goal since establishing Paradox has been finding more... consensual methods to feed.

⚜ For the higher dollar items he has to offer within the shop, payment may come not only in the form of currency - but in ounces. Prices vary on the buyer, where certain supernaturals' blood can be worth gold in comparison to others. He strives for it to become a sustainable system.

⚜ He is still quite prone to relapses when he isn't staying focused on his needs, or when a wrench is thrown into his schedule. These relapses haven't come without consequences.

A city of 8.5 million, and yet, the statistic stops short as it consists only of the human population that fills its streets and skyscrapers. A hub for the supernatural, the number is far exceeded by the hybrids and immortals that roam it likewise.

New York City became an eventual home when the early years of hunger and inevitable savage hunting had declined for Dominic. The number of relapses in his control had settled to a number sustainable in such a highly populated place, just as long as he held utmost diligence toward maintaining it. Thirty-some years now he has resided in the city, yet it has hardly come without mishaps. The struggle to keep a low profile proves to be an ongoing one. The city, despite being a triggering place from its population, holds far more resources.
The world is hardy as archaic as it had once been. Vampirekind is not left to simply hunt in the alleys come dark. Nightclubs may not simply be nightclubs. Businesses may not house what their storefronts show. City factions are hardly so black and white. 'Prey' may not be prey at all.

It was a mere two months after Paradox's doors opened that Dominic first stepped foot inside. At the time, it had been nothing more than the record shop presence it takes on from the front. He came in not for the pursuit of music. Instead, he was fully aware of the blood mage's reputation since settling herself into the city. Following his careful research of the woman who owned the small store in the Upper West Side, the vampire walked into the record shop in order to strike a deal. He offered up some much needed financial assistance in a time where owner, Dahlia could just barely keep her doors open. In return, she accepted the use of the record shop to sell objects of supernatural specialty 'under the counter'. Bottom line, the shop also serves as a far more peaceful route for feeding, helping towards his
goal of coexisting.

Tread lightly through these shop doors.

A mundane record shop by day, come night time, the back doors of the shop open to offer goods of different supernatural varieties. Objects designed for ritualistic purposes, spells, and potions. Items that are laced with enchantments and imbued with magical capability for whatever the user's needs may be. Weapons against the supernatural beings that run the streets - no asking nor telling necessary. A universal supplier of items to vampires, wolves, demons, witches, and their hunters alike.

The shop is considered a true neutral ground within its proximity and is heavily warded on the grounds of defense, as well as protection from things as simple as petty theft. With a specialty in items of the dark arts in specific, items labelled as taboo by many other places can be found here as well as tactile objects, and collectables deemed priceless.

Dominic is no stranger to relationships and their consequences. Past instances have left him timid and reluctant to commit, but being the romantic-at-heart he is, there is no going back once he has.

With that being said, Dominic wasn't searching when Agnes made her acquaintance in Paradox, but she has been at the very front of his attention ever since. To the vampire, Agnes has always been a soft spot. The more he learned about the demoness, the closer he wanted to be, even with the history and misfortune that she carries within herself from her past.

Despite his hesitations and fears about committing and what could go wrong, he is admittedly head over heels. Due to complications with his Coven recently coming to light, his personal circumstances have become... complicated. Only time will tell.

THE CATWOMAN | Kougar Kyle

After crossing paths by odd circumstances, Dominic has developed a fascination with Miss Kyle. The two share a similar wit about them, tossing back and forth comments often just to see how the other will react. With a newfound enjoyment of the Kitty Nights Burlesque, he was even brazen enough to track her down 'behind the mask' to offer her a business proposal he had made hard to refuse. Time will tell if the two make for a dangerous combination on the job, or whether Kougar will turn out to be too much for the vampire to handle.

THE BLOOD MAGE | Dahlia Valenti

The woman is a spitfire. Dahlia is a hot-tempered Serbian by birth and belongs to what Dominic considers to be a part of one of the more dangerous classes of magic users. There is an irony to be had in their partnership over the business; she knows just as much if not more about his most essential necessity, while Dominic is rendered unaffected by a majority of the magic she wields. The result is a partnership that is built on trust above all and fueled by earning success toward the running of Paradox. The two assume the role of being business partners and have become rather close friends over the years.

THE CHEMIST| Jovan Valenti

Half-sibling to Dahlia, Jo came to work at the shop with great reluctance from Dominic and yet he held little power to change the matter. When the two aren't busy bickering back and forth about anything and everything, Jovan handles the task of creating a broad array of magic-based goods such as potions, enchanted objects, and wards—including those that ensure Paradox remains a 'Neutral' zone. Despite Dom's general dislike of the man, he knows they are better off with him hanging around the shop than not having him. Granted, only if he shows up on time.

THE FELINE | Nina

Dominic never needed a pet—truly. The man isn't even a cat person at heart, begrudging to buy into owning a creature that demands to be catered upon. With that being said... after being guilt-tripped, he currently owns a white kitten that goes by the name of Nina. Dom has Agnes to thank for the next ten years or so spent covered in cat hair. Despite his outlook over the matter, Dominic has a way of spoiling the cat and treating her with utmost adoration. She has an occasional presence at the record shop, where she can be found sleeping on top of the cases.
