Rey’s Past

Abandoned at a young age on the desert planet Jakku, Rey’s upbringing was not a happy one. She spent the majority of her childhood as a lowly scavenger, working all day in the blistering heat in exchange for scraps of food.

For many years, Rey survived without friends or family, learning to defend herself in a dangerous and unforgiving world. Every day she clung onto hope, believing that her parent’s sudden departure had been a mere accident, and that one day they would return.

In her heart, Rey knew they were never coming back.

One fateful day, Rey met and befriended an astromech droid called BB-8, along with a defected stormtrooper named Finn. This set in motion the course of events that would change her life forever. Before Rey knew it, she had been swept up in an intergalactic conflict between the Resistance and the First Order.

It wasn’t long after when Rey made a shocking and fate-altering discovery. She learned that she was strong with the force, an energy that surrounds and moves through every living thing, binding the universe together. Although reluctant at first, Rey eventually came to accept her destiny, which was to become the first of the new generation of Jedi.

Since then, Rey has had many adventures: from besting Kylo Ren in lightsaber combat, to learning the ways of the force from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, to defeating Emperor Palpatine and saving both the Resistance and the Galaxy.

The girl from nowhere; once a humble scavenger, now the new face of the Jedi Order. A symbol of hope, protection and light.

True Lineage and Chosen Name

Towards the end of Rey’s conflict with the First Order, she comes to learn of a horrible and devastating truth. She is the paternal granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, otherwise known as Darth Sidious.

Her parents knew that the Emperor would come for their child. In order to protect her, they left her behind on Jakku and sacrificed themselves so that her location would be forever unknown. Their efforts were not in vain, and kept Rey safe from the Sith for all those years.

Naturally, this discovery sends Rey into a spiral of fear and doubt, and she very nearly gives up the fight in the depths of her despair. Fortunately, Luke Skywalker appears to Rey and gives her the wisdom she needs to keep going. She is not defined by her past, or her lineage. What matters is who she chooses to be.

In the end, Rey rejects the name of Palpatine, and chooses a last name that aligns more with who she is and the path she has chosen.

Rey’s Personality

Despite her adverse childhood, Rey is a caring, brave, resourceful and compassionate young woman.

She has a strong sense of justice, and will not hesitate to lend a helping hand if she sees someone in distress, or a wrong that is being committed.

Rey does possess a passionate, angry streak, and will sometimes let her emotions get the better of her. However, she will always find her way back to a more peaceful state of mind.

Due to her history, Rey does have abandonment issues and will become very upset if she believes a new friend is going to leave her. She can also be quite naïve at times, given her general inexperience with the galaxy as a whole.

Overall, Rey is a genuinely good person who would do anything for her friends and loved ones.

Rey’s Skills and Abilities

With experience as a Scavenger, Pilot and a Jedi, Rey possesses a wide range of skills and talents. Her knowledge of mechanical parts gives her an advantage in building and repairing machines.

She is also a very skilled pilot, being able to fly and maneuver a variety of different crafts, both in the air and on land. Because Jakku was a very diverse place, Rey picked up on all sorts of alien languages, including astromech binary and the language of Wookies.

Rey is also incredibly strong with the force. These abilities include being able to sense the thoughts and feelings of others, moving people and objects without touching them, performing Jedi-mind tricks and healing wounds with the force.

When pushed to the very edge of her abilities, Rey can also summon force lightning from her fingertips. This is a technique that comes from her Sith ancestry, and so she prefers not to use it unless absolutely necessary.

Rey’s inventory includes a quarter-staff, a blaster from Han Solo, and a lightsaber. She is equally skilled at using all of them, but prefers the lightsaber as it is her most powerful weapon and true to the Jedi Way.

Miscellaneous Facts about Rey

• Due to her experience with food insecurity, Rey has a massive appetite. She can eat large portions very quickly, as she is still adapting to a life where food is readily available.

• Rey is very in tune with her emotions and cries easily. Due to her connection with the force, she is also extremely empathetic, feeling the emotions of others as if they were her own.

• While very friendly and approachable, Rey has a terrible sense of humor. She is not typically one to make jokes, and most people’s humor tends to go way over her head.

• I have been writing/role-playing for 10+ years but I am more than happy to write with beginners. However, I do expect a certain level of effort and creativity in other people's writing. Short responses that are severely lacking in detail and creativity are a no-go and I will politely ask you to try again.

• You can expect a reply from me within one week. If I have not responded to you by then, I am most likely sick or extremely busy. Please be patient. I will write back to you as soon as I can.

• I will only hold a max of 10 ongoing role-play threads at a time. If you don't see your character listed here, it's because I haven't heard from you in a long time (2+ months). It doesn't mean I no longer wish to write with you. 

• I delete comments that are out of character (OOC) to keep things neat and tidy.

• Lastly and most importantly, let's have fun! Role-playing is meant to be creative and exciting. I can't wait to write with you all :)
