Appearance: Vanitas has somewhat long and spiky blonde hair, bright golden eyes, and most notably - crimson wings that decorate his back. He also has a toned yet slender physique and stands at an average height. His porcelain-toned skin is nearly flawless, only having a large faded scar that covers his upper back. His ears have a few piercings, while his nails are pointed and usually coated in black polish. In Heaven some angels teasingly referred to him as a pretty boy, while others silently envied his appearance.
Persona: Vanitas comes across as a confident flirt and the comic relief all in one. Sarcasm is guaranteed when speaking to him, and he's always the type to freely speak his mind - even if it lands him in trouble. However, his jovial and mischievous demeanor hides his constant paranoia. The incubus in him leads him to be vain about his appearance, along with being manipulative at times. There exists a caring and loyal side to him deep down...but why bother being the nice guy when the world and even Heaven itself wasn't kind to him.
Genesis: An Outcast from Heaven
Vanitas was damned from the start - being the unwanted result of a night of temptation. The son of the Archangel Ariel and the Demon Lord she foolishly fell in love with. Their relationship was taboo, and once discovered, his father was banished to another realm - at least according to his mother. Being a Nephalem - a forbidden hybrid of both an angel and a demon, some feared his power before he was even born. Somehow his mother managed to convince God and the other archangels that his birth would be of value to them - to further achieve their ultimate goal of Armageddon.
And as far back as he could remember, Vanitas' life was filled with misery. Instead of being treated with any form of compassion, he was the outcast that was raised and trained to be a weapon of destruction. Being constantly used and abused by the people around him, all while Ariel never once bothered to stop his ongoing torment. Then came the faithful day where everything changed. For better or for worse? Vanitas still isn't too sure.
But it was the day he was finally free.
Vanitas rebelled, stealing his mother's angel blade (a powerful weapon forged by God) as he attempted to escape. However his actions led the angels to do the unthinkable - forcing him down before ripping the wings from his back. The pain was excruciating, but his desire to live was greater. His determination somehow caused Ariel's angel blade to activate - to which Vanitas used its power to smite the ones who took his wings from him. In an act of rage and revenge, he slaughtered a dozen angels in his path and even attempted to fight the other archangels - but he was outmatched, and it would be his 'dear' Uncle Michael that shoved him from Heaven's Gates.
Severely weakened from using the blade, this was supposed to be Vanitas' end - but he could have sworn as he fell onto the mortal realm he heard a soothing voice telling him to flee. He remembers a warmth surrounding him before feeling his wings being restored. His eventual landing wouldn't be the greatest, but he still managed to survive in one piece - both with his wings and his new weapon.
Ever since that day, Vanitas has been hunted by numerous angels and even a few demons. Both for being an abomination and apparently being labeled as a thieving traitor of Heaven. However, this new lifestyle hasn't completely dampened the hybrid's spirit. He's able to travel and enjoy the thrill of being a fugitive - though of course he can't stay in one place for too long.
Capabilities
Crimson Wings: His greatest asset will forever be his wings. Naturally they give him the ability of flight. However, unlike other angels, his feathers can turn razor sharp and metallic-like on command - letting Vanitas use his wings both offensively or defensively. He can also make his wings shrink in size to appear more human.
Aerokinesis: Vanitas has the power of controlling the air. His favorite trick is using his wings to create strong whirlwinds to hurl any opposition back. When flying, he can also use the surrounding wind to travel faster.
Ragnarok: An archangel blade created by the big man himself. It can kill any supernatural being or creature, even archangels. Normally such a powerful weapon only works in the hands of an archangel - but for reasons unknown Vanitas can wield Ragnarok. Its blade can elongate into a sword, temporarily allow him to manipulate light, and even grant him a more powerful armored form. However, using Ragnarok for too long will tire Vanitas out.
Enhanced Stamina: Both of his heritages grant Vanitas superior reflexes: possessing strength and endurance that any mortal would consider inhumane. He isn't invincible by any means, but may be a difficult adversary.
Astral Perception: Vanitas can see what is normally invisible to humans and some supernaturals. These often tend to be magical sigils, spirits, and the true forms of celestial beings. He is also capable of sensing one's presence or any strong emotion that may emit from another; and at other times, he can have visions of the past or future when interacting with a particular object or person.
Allure: Vanitas can emit a sweet-smelling pheromone that can induce one's sexual arousal or force one to grow infatuated with him. However, it has no effect on those who are already in love.
Dream Walking: Vanitas can appear in people's dreams - both as a form of communication or to locate an individual. He can also manipulate one's dream enough to inflict a nightmare.
Energy Absorption: Vanitas can drain the life force of another through lip contact. Unlike most Incubi, he doesn't need to absorb energy to sustain himself; but doing so can give him an energy boost or accelerate the healing of any injuries.
Healing/Regeneration: Vanitas is able to heal his own wounds or those of his choice. However, his healing capability is limited due to his demonic heritage.
Miscellaneous Facts
🪶 Vanitas named his angel blade Ragnarok because it's apparently one of the keys to beginning Armageddon. He's yet to discover if that's true or not.
🪶 It may not seem like it, but Vanitas is a full time bookworm. He loves to read in his free time - especially if it's about planetology or anything related to birds.
🪶 He flaps his wings rapidly if he gets nervous or flustrued - every single time.
🪶 Touching his wings is a no-go. It will irritate him, and he might try to blow you away.
🪶 Vanitas refuses to eat chicken. Birds are his favorite animals, and if one were to eat chicken around him, he'll watch in horror and will likely freak out at the sight.
🪶 He's secretly a sucker for children and sweets.
🪶 He's been told several times that his father is a powerful incubus that lives in another realm. However, Vanitas doesn't care to learn more about his father or form any type of bond with him.
