When the wind carries a name on its breath, I follow. Be it beast or man.
Kotaka GhostPine is a member of the GhostPine clan, who reside in the forested foothills below Dead Mountain. He is a hunter with the mystical ability to call upon the spirits of ancient legendary figures in the heat of battle. Guided by these spirits, he wanders the land to fulfill his destiny and hunt legendary prey.
Kotaka GhostPines – The Slayer of Sholith
Kotaka GhostPines is a human male and hunter by trade, heralding from the distant foothills of Dead Mountain. He is a Myst Dancer, a being connected to the Mysts where spirits of ancestors reach out to him. Now, he wanders the land in search of legendary prey and to set the spirits to rest.
Description
Appearance: Kotaka embodies many of the common traits of the people of his home land Dead Mountain. He stands around 5’ 10’’ with a lean build. His skin is the color of warm clay that is rough from enduring the cold and windswept landscapes of his home. His dark, medium length hair is usually held back with a linen wrap. Along with is dark hair is a matching wispy goatee. Tired grey eyes. Kotaka is marked by the Mysts with a spiral of lightning scars around his heart.
Personality: Kotaka was once a mischievous and fun loving boy, with respect for his people, traditions, and the land. After the reveal of his role as a Myst Dancer, the child side of him died. His instincts guide him in much of what he does, attune with his primal qualities as a hunter by trade. While he matured fast there are still pieces of him that reveal a warm side to him. He is curious, compassionate, and kind. At times he has a temper and is a bit over zealous though.
History
Kotaka grew up listening to the wind that shook pine, water lapping on the rocky lake shore, and the tense silence of Dead Mountain. His people were some of the last practitioners of the old ways- thriving on the ancient knowledge and practices of their ancestors native to the areas around the aforementioned Dead Mountain. Kotaka’s clan was GhostPine, the foresters and hunters of the foot hills below the mountain. Around bonfires Kotaka recounted the stories his Elders shared with him, his siblings, and cousins. Tales as old as the bones of the world, of Legends from times long past. Those were his favorite. Along with hunting, recounting these stories were some of his fondest memories.
It is the tradition of his people, when a young member of the clans reached a certain age they were put to trial. To become a full member of the clan they must pass a test, depending on which clan you came from. For Kotaka, it was simple, hunt a great beast. Don’t return home till its done. His journey spanned several days and nights, wherein which he experienced far more than just the thrill of the hunt. Kotaka entered Dead Mountain and returned with the hide of his prey and something else: a Mark. Kotaka had crossed from the realm of mere men, into the Mysts- the realm of the spirits. He had become a Myst Dancer.
The shamans greeted Kotaka with words from the spirits. His destiny lay beyond their haunted foothills. Follow the voices and tracks of his prey, then return home once more a Legend.

Kotaka is a new character of mine that I am looking to build and explore. More on the casual side, I am looking for one offs and short term adventures. I am open to long term games if there is plenty of potential for collaborative world building. Adventures with Kotaka focus on hunting, exploring, and the natural/spirit world. An adventure by design, he can fit into fantastical slice of life scenarios as well. Inspired by D&D, Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Below I will list a few adventure hooks to build upon, but if you are open to coming up with an original idea together feel free to reach out.
1. The Great Hunt - In a time honored event, the clans of Dead Mountain have gathered for a festival to honor great legends. A time of food, drink, stories, and the titular Great Hunt. You have been invited to test your metal and maybe even form strong connections.
2. The Master & Student - The wandering hunter and mystic is looking to take on a student in order to pass on his sacred knowledge. Will you be worthy of his teachings?
3. An Old Friend - Kotaka was once apart of a legendary adventuring party along with you. Together you saved the world. He has since disappeared. Now, he ( or yourself) needs help.
4. Brave New World - The world has ended (kingdom/nation fallen, invaded, changed, etc) and we have fled across the sea. An unknown land awaits. Come, lets build a village together.
I hope these offer some potential storytelling opportunities. If you are interested at all, feel free to reach out to me directly or by posting here. Thanks!
