The idea of him going to a truck stop made her feel awkward for her joke. She hadn't meant to be insulting. It was time to change the subject. He suggested another rock song and she pondered on it. Soft might also be good. Wind the night down. "Hmmm... maybe soft. Start winding down some." That at least gave her a direction to go for thinking of something. She was paying attention to him though, and songs went to the back of her mind. It seemed freeing to live like that. It wasn't for her but being prepared to do so and then heading out might not be so bad. Hers had been forced so it didn't seem as nice.
"Long as you're happy is what matters I suppose. If wandering is what you like, then that's what you should do." She motioned to him. "Where's the most interesting place you've been? Or a place you'd like to go back to and stay for a while?" Her question were becoming less thoughtful and just general getting to know you the more alcohol she took in. She lifted her glass and spun the liquor in it. "I'm gonna slow down. My conversation is turning into dating profile questions." She laughed and shook her head. At least she wasn't afraid to admit that she was getting a little too tipsy. Aesa wasn't to a point where her choices were inhibited, but driving was a bad idea at this point.
Motioning to him, she laid out the plan for the rest of the night. "So, we finish our songs and our drinks. We head outside. You can show me your car and then we'll walk down to the diner. And then a short walk to my place. I think there's a convenience store on the way home if you need anything. I don't keep stuff for men in my apartment since it's normally just me." She didn't have people over usually. She liked her privacy and she didn't want anyone caught in literal cross fire. For some reason, she thought the other people would be in more danger is Gerwulf got involved in any trouble. "What are you going to sing next? I think I've decided on mine."
There were a good few songs that were well placed for winding down, so anything would be nice enough to listen to. As he thought about it, he'd always preferred the confident types to those who could be considered wallflowers. Whatever destination this night had, at the very least, he had a good conversation with an interesting enough person. Nodding then, as Aesa said, as long as he was happy. That was the gist of how he lived his life so far. Thinking about her question, he pursed his lips in thought. "The Congo, you don't get what a Jungle is until you've lived in one. As for somewhere I'd go back, Berlin maybe? Somewhere in Europe, where I can get alcohol"
His answers weren't stunning, world-changing things; they were just personal thoughts on the moment. Gerwulf had noticed that they were getting broader, which he didn't find too strange given her state. "I'm surprised these count as dating questions, they're more curiosity-made tangents. I am pretty mysterious after all," He waggled his brows before taking another long sip from his bottle. Listening to her laughter was nice; it was soothing to hear people in good cheer. He missed days that had gone by where people crowded around campfires, singing during the calm.
"Sounds good to me, though I guess I could pick up a toothbrush. Other than that, there isn't much else a guy needs that can't be shared," He thought about it, licking his lips as he wondered what else he would need for staying over at Aesa's. When asked what he would sing, he shrugged. "I'll figure it out when I get closer to my slot. What have you decided?" He motioned for her to answer as he began to run through some of the songs that would be appropriate at this hour. If this were a friendly gathering at a house, he'd have chosen something strong like a piece from Phantom of the Opera.
The idea of traveling the world and seeing all these places overwhelmed her somewhat. She'd seen pictures of the Congo. Even watched documentaries on various parts to the rain forest. Live there? Was there even any place to live? Was it just a tent and a campfire? Hoping that some animal didn't come along and eat you? She didn't mind camping, but she'd like to be a little safer for a long term stay. "I'd love to hear about your time in the Congo." She wanted to know everything about it. Gerwulf was young to have done so much and seen so many places. Perhaps the military had taken him there or perhaps his family was rich. Though, she wouldn't ask about that last one. It felt rude.
Aesa chuckled as he called himself mysterious. "You are. Who gets to sit and question a mysteriously handsome man like this? Take the opportunity while I have it." This time she winked at him. She was becoming more comfortable around him. It surely wasn't the alcohol talking. She was buzzing nicely, but she wasn't trashed or out of control of her mental facilities. Or so she thought. The comment about sharing things made her lift a brow at him, then smile. She supposed he was right. "We can stop and get one. I'm willing to share a lot, but yeah you're right. A toothbrush... you're on your own buddy."
She took another drink from her glass, then swallowed quickly as he asked about the song she'd picked. "Black Velvet by Alannah Myles." It was a slower song, but it had a sexy type of slow. Despite the bar very slowly starting to empty out, she was starting to feel warm. She pulled the black unbuttoned over shirt off, leaving her in her blue tank top. "I can't promise that I'll be able to fix you breakfast tomorrow like a good host should. I can order delivery though. We'll have to see how the alcohol treats me in the morning." If she'd stuck with only beer, she'd have been fine. But mixing in the liquor might leave her wishing she hadn't come the morning.
Gerwulf wasn't sure what he could share with his experiences in the Congo; the fact that it was a few decades ago during the times of unrest didn't help. Perhaps he could glaze over it with just anecdotes related to camping and stalking the rainforests for game trails while living off the land. "Perhaps later on," He murmured as she seemed genuinely interested in the aspect of his travels. The fact that he was older than he looked was likely to become apparent as time went on; however, for now, he was just another guy looking to get really drunk. At least he could sway and move like someone who was more tipsy than he was.
"I wouldn't call myself Handsome, perhaps just rugged," He responded to the wink with a smirk as he chuckled. Gerwulf never lacked confidence; when he set his mind to something, it was something that he did. Rarely did he hesitate or take his time when action was required. Right now, though, the choice was obvious as he soaked in the environment while watching Aesa as she spoke up once more. "Good to know," He commented as he watched her take off the extra layers to get a bit cooler. "Classic song choice, I think I'll go for something heavier but finite," He wondered about it as she spoke up about breakfast.
"I think I'll manage with whatever you can fix up," Gerwulf stated as his eyes met hers, before raising a brow and letting his eyes obviously drift down her jawline, neck, and admiring her tank top before his gaze flicked back up. It was fun, flirting like this with someone so young. "To a good night!" He said softly before raising his bottle, glancing around as he necked some more. The call is going out soon for the next person in line for the Karaoke.
The comment on his appearance made her blink. Did the man not own a mirror? Maybe he only saw himself in the rearview mirror of his car. "I think you need to either check the dictionary or get some glass. I am not that drunk. And all the women in here staring at you says you are mistaken." She settled be into the conversation once her shirt was laying on the table. A soft laugh left her when he said he'd manage with whatever she fixed up. Aesa wasn't sure cooking could be counted as a talent of hers. She didn't burn things, but she was no gourmet chef.
Aesa felt his eyes roam over her, but she didn't look away as he did it. She nodded at his comment. "To a very good night." Her glass was lifted in turn. If this had happened years ago, she'd have been self conscious of the scars scattered over her body. Bullet wounds. Knife scars. Road rash. Now, she saw them as part of her story. They weren't massive nor high in number. If he didn't like them, well, she didn't care. Aesa laughed at herself as she realized, she'd assumed something was going to happen when they got home. That was egotistical of her.
Before she could open her mouth to say something else to him they called her to the stage. Fuck it. She stood up and walked by him, trailing her fingers up his arm as she passed by to go to the stage. The shirt had been loose and hid her figure, but the tank was tight and didn't hide anything. She walked up on the stage, giving the man working the music her choice and waited for the music to start. She let the music pull her in, her body swaying to the music as she sang. When it finished, she moved through the crowd back to the table, sinking down in the chair with one arm propped on the back as she leaned partly on the table. "That one felt good. Shame we won't have time to do another. After they call you, you want to head out?"
