Two kill switches? Aesa shook her head, but grinned. "You know this isn't Fast and the Furious right?" It was his money, he could do what he wanted with it, but that seemed excessive. Maybe it was simply because money wasn't something she could really use to spend on luxuries. She didn't count her bike as one. Deciding now wasn't the time for such blah thoughts,s he refocused on the conversation at hand.
When Gerwulf let his tongue loll out of his mouth, she began to laugh, shaking her head at his antics. She appreciated someone who could be silly and have fun. Part of her wanted to tease him about not being very good at asking dating profile questions, but she didn't. Book? Who had time to read? "Uhm... books? I don't have much time to read, but I like paranormal stuff. You know with werewolves and vampire, things like that." She didn't have a bucket list really. There was one item. Survive. The big man was right about one thing, she didn't want to burden him with her past or what she was running from. Like he said, everyone had a story about their childhood. Though his seemed more interesting than hers.
"I thought you might have been a military brat. Family moving from place to place. Something like that." It made perfect sense that someone used to not staying in one spot would keep moving around. "Do you have a big family?" Aesa asked as the pushed the door to the diner open and headed inside. She glanced around, then picked a back corner booth. The menus were already tucked into a holder at the table, so she grabbed one and began to look it over. "I'm starving."
The waitress walked over. "Evening, what can I get you to drink?" She gave Gerwulf an extra bright smile.
Aesa looked up at the woman and smiled. "Diet Dr. Pepper, please." She knew she's regret that choice if she got sick tomorrow, but it was a risk she was willing to take. Looking back to the menu, she began to narrow down her choices. "Do I want a massive greasy burger, or do I want breakfast food? Waffles, eggs.... too many decisions."
Chuckling when Aesa commented that this wasn't Fast and the Furious. "Though not many of my jobs include the car, it's still pretty useful to stop most car thieves. There are some other odd upgrades that are on it that you'd not believe," He said lightly, thinking about the override switch that stopped the trunk from opening. An option that was popular with eastern gangs in case they wanted to transport or tuck someone away indefinitely within. It was excessive, but it wasn't like he needed to save up his money, nor did he need to do anything in particular with it except spend it on his hobbies.
He didn't make a look or pause with any sort of hesitation when Aesa spoke of the paranormal and yet not books, what has the world come to, he wondered to himself. "What kind of paranormal stuff? Ghost-Hunters and the like? Or Bigfoot spotters, and if not books, where would you even get that type of info? Blogs?" He wasn't being harsh, just wanted to ask curiously as he thought about her statement. Werewolves and Vampires, what would she think if she knew that Gerwulf was living proof that sort of thing was more normal than one would believe.
"Nope, was small, now smaller." Offhand comment about how he was the only one left of his clan, no highs or lows. Just a fact, as she asked, following Aesa through the door and into the Diner. Taking up the other side of the booth, he picked up a menu and glanced through it as well. "Large mountain dew, please and thank you, Cheryl" He said matching the smile that he was given as he spotted her name tag. "Can I get two triple patty burgers with everything. Two chili-cheese fries with bacon and a side of waffles... What do you feel like?" Gerwulf stated before trying to hold his features from breaking out into a wide-childlike grin after ordering enough for perhaps three people.
Aesa couldn't help but grin at him. She hadn't been clear, but it still amused her. "No, I mean I read supernatural books. Books that have those kinds of things in them. They're pretty popular actually. I do like ghost hunting shows. Not so sure I believe in bigfoot even though I lived in the Pacific North West growing up. I'm pretty sure there are blogs and videos about it. Hell, the cable channels show shows on it too." If he wanted some recommendations she could give them. There had been no time for her to read of late though.
When he commented on his family, she wasn't sure if she should share her condolences or just let it go. She could relate though. "Yeah, mines shrunk. Mostly by choice though." Her thoughts completely left the conversation as he ordered the food. For a moment she thought he'd ordered for her too, but she realized he was ordering just for him. It took a moment for her to answer, mouth a bit agape as he grinned at her. "Dear god man...." She gave a laugh then shook her head. "I'll take a double cheeseburger and an order of hasbrowns with ham and cheese."
Once she had their order, with a strange look given to Gerwulf, the waitress went to turn it in. "I think you've blown her mind. How in the hell can you eat all that? Are your legs hollow?" She laughed. "No, seriously. Bulking up? Sounds like an order I'd hear a fighter or boxer give. All the protein and carbs." Sinking back in the seat she stretched a bit before shrugging her jacket off. "So, now it's time for the hard hitting investigative questions, mister. Ever been involved in anything..." She lowered her voice to a whisper, "... illegal?"
"Maybe I've drank a bit too much, but I'm not too sure of what you mean" Gerwulf stated calmly in response to her speaking about supernatural books, what kind of supernatural books could she be talking about. Then realization hit him and he nodded, remembering the glorification of supernaturals in media. Not books, not novels or studies, but just playful fantasy of what the supernatural society was like. There were a few similarities with some cultures, however, it was too fanciful when it came to some plot devices. "So the ones about werewolves who fight eternally against vampires and other stories like that? Where there is a romeo and juliette flare to it, or more like those ones that have half-naked men on the front. With titles like Twisted-Heat," He teased.
"What? I'm hungry and believe me, I've got some trophies stored in a shed somewhere that tell a story of Man versus Food," He commented, noticing that Aesa had first believed that he was ordering for both of them. Hashbrowns did sound amazing, though. Nodding to the waitress once she went off with the order. "I just have multiple stomachs like a cow and a healthy metabolism," Gerwulf jested once more as she made comments on how he could hide food, once he actually began eating, that would be when her jaw dropped. "In all seriousness, my body is mostly muscle, and I do need to eat a lot of protein as well as calories", shrugging lightly.
When she took her jacket off, he mimicked the movement and shrugged his own off. Smiling widely as he showed off his broad shoulders and very obviously muscled arms. "Illegal?" He asked in a moderate tone, before lowering it conspiratorially to a whisper as he leaned a little forward. "Plenty, but never something that would hurt people who didn't deserve it, why? Is that a deal breaker? Also, illegal in the Americas or worldwide?" He wanted a little clarification, wondering what she was actually asking about. He'd not beat around the bush and wouldn't need to lie; it wasn't like anyone could prove what he spoke of.
Aesa let out a warm laugh when he mentioned the half-naked men. She shook her head and smiled at him. "No, nothing like that last bit. It's not always fights between species. Sometimes they get along. Sometimes the humans are the bad people, which isn't hard to imagine honestly. I don't do the romance thing in my books much." There were people who would have gotten upset at the accusation that they read smut. She was not upset. She'd read books with sex in them, she didn't see the big deal. It was a normal part of life. Aesa could dish it as well as she could take it, so she turned the question back on him, smirking as she teased. "Do you like books with half-naked people on them, called Twisted Heat? That seemed like an awful specific title call out."
The idea of him having food contest eating trophies wouldn't surprise her, but the answer he gave at the end about muscle and protein made sense to her. She has seen the Rock's cheat meals on Tik Tok after all. "Hey, it's your stomach. You can stuff it as full as you want, big man. I fully support doing what makes you happy."
When he leaned forward on the table, she did too. She shouldn't have asked. Perhaps part of her wanted to know someone else in the world had made mistakes, forced or not and now they were doing alright. A little validation that she could be alright too perhaps. "No, it's not a deal breaker. And illegal anywhere." She gave him a shrug and a soft smile. "Done a few things in my past I"m not proud of so I can't judge." She wished what she'd done hadn't hurt people. Everything The Horsemen did hurt people though. And the worse people suffered the more money they made, so they were pure deviant bastards. She shook her head, pushing those thoughts away. "Hmm, next question." She tapped a finger against her lips. "I know... are you a serial killer? Should I be worried? And if so, what is your preferred method of murder." It was clearly a joke, but she was feeling just loose enough from the alcohol to joke and tease about such things.
