Gerwulf had done work for people who paid him in food, alcohol, or favors to be cashed in later. He didn't mind, it kept him busy and allowed him to meet many different supernatural communities while he moved about legitimately. He would never say he was a good man, perhaps a nice one, but he'd done many things that others would find appalling in his past. Though her inner monologue was correct about his attitude, he didn't care about anyone's thoughts and did what he wanted. That devil-may-care attitude was always with him, like his belief that he was untouchable.
"Probably, though it is an issue because most are the greedy types who wouldn't piss on a burning man, if it didn't benefit them in some manner." He continued to eat before he cut back in. "Animals live and die. If people are cruel, they are no more than that," He stated in response to her talking about her Grandpa, but didn't bring up more on the topic. He could see it on her features that it wasn't a conversation that Aesa wanted.
When he thought about the places where he would want to go but hadn't been yet. "There are a few, though I'm slowly crossing those off my list, outside of the one I've already spoken of..." His eyes darting outside and upward toward the skies, he continued. "Taiwan and some of the islands off Hawaii. There are other places, but I can't really think of any off the top of my head. What about you?" Gerwulf asked lightly, wondering if she had a place that she wanted to disappear off to. Visiting other countries wasn't really something that those in the States did much. Some didn't even have passports and never left their hometowns for their entire lives. Aesa seemed different, though.
It was a question she'd not given much thought too in recent years. She didn't hide the expression on her face as she pondered the idea of travel. "There's probably too many to list. It's more a case of time and money than desire. Most anywhere in Europe. New Zealand probably. Some places in Asia would be interesting too." She gave a shrug and ate some more of her food. Aesa was starting to sober up some, but not enough that she felt good about driving her bike. He'd eaten way more than her in the same amount of time, but she wasn't built to inhale food like a big muscled fighting man. Not that she was trying.
The waitress brought them refills on their drinks and what was remaining of Gerwulfs food. She laid down a pule of extra napkins and Aesa couldn't help laughing as she walked away. "I think those are for you, big man." She took another bite of her food, shaking her head in amusement. After a quiet moment, she took a deep breath. "As for the animal thing. If you kill a pet just because it annoys you, then I consider that an evil thing. And the person who does it, an evil person. I know sometimes animals get sick and you don't have a choice, but that's a different situation."
Once she'd finished her food, she sank back in the seat relaxing. She continued to chat with him until he finished. The waitress returned with the check laying it on the table. Aesa reached for it, but he snatched it first. She gave him a smile. "Ok, so you were serious about it being on you. I'll cover breakfast or make it, like I said." Aesa wasn't in the habit of letting other people pay her way, but she could bend this time. He was trying to be nice. She doubted he thought she couldn't afford it. If he was that kind of guy, she didn't think they'd have gotten along as well as they did. "When you're done, we can head over a few streets to my place."
The choices that she spoke of were interesting enough, most of them requiring you to travel countless miles and likely very good for bikes. Nodding in response as he ate more of the food while listening, the second half of his meal came. As he polished away one set of fries, a burger, and was on his second. Taking a large bite through the waffles that appeared after pouring a generous helping of syrup on them. Chuckling as she laughed, knowing that he was going through the food at a prodigious pace.
Animals, among them, were just untold stories. He agreed that slaying a beast without reason just because it annoyed you was the type of action you would take against a man. Though he knew Evil, cruelty, and those who were psychopathic. One didn't have to be one to have the others, though it helped as they were the types to use fear to control others. "It is different," He agreed as they continued their chatting. Time seemed to fly past as he finished everything ordered. Even picking up the waffle plate and licking the syrup for a brief moment before he remembered his manners.
Upon getting the check, he grabbed and paid for it. Wiping his fingers and obfuscating how much he put down beneath the table as he grabbed his cash-clip. "Of course I was serious, I'm a man of my word after all," He commented as he moved out of the booth to hand the cash to Cheryl before holding up a finger to Aesa. "Just a moment, gonna clean my hands," He said as he vanished into the bathroom. Following the call of nature and clean hands later, he walked back out and motioned toward the door. Once they were on their way, her bike back in his hands, they moved toward her place. Taking a deep breath in, as if he had been lacking oxygen while they walked and chatted. Wondering what the place actually looked like and how well they would get further acquainted.
Aesa quizzed Gerwulf on what he knew about bikes as they walked to her place. When they arrived, they came up to an industrial looking building. The bottom floor had glass across the front. A sign read The Shield Wall above it. The door's hours were on a small sign on the front door. It said Mondays - Appointments only (For new or interested people). The rest of the hours were open from eight am to midnight for the gym. Classes for self defenses said to see Aesa for times and dates. She motioned for him to follow her around the side. There was a side door that she unlocked and opened. It was a small storage room behind the metal door. "Bike goes in here."
Once she had it in and locked up, she took him around to the front and undid the door. Walking in, on the left was a small desk area with an office set up. There was a small cooler with water and gatorade inside it. It said 2 dollars on the door. To the right of the door, was a large open area with thick mats to protect when you hit the floor. Along the back wall was a small set of bleachers. Past that was the 'gym'. "I told you it wasn't very big." There were a half dozen weight bearing machines, like a leg press and some arm work outs. A couple of treadmills completed the group. The farthest wall was all weights of various types. "You're welcome to come by and work out if it interests you. I'll probably be teaching classes."
Aesa let him look around to his hearts content. Then she motioned to some other doors along the back. "Locker rooms." Another door with glass in the door was on the office side of the building. "That goes up to my place." She motioned for him to follow, opening the door and heading up the stairwell to another door. This one was a normal looking house door. She opened it up and motioned for him to follow her in. The stair well was too narrow for him to pass her. The top floor was done as a studio apartment, except for two doors on the right hand side of the apartment. "Those are the bedrooms. The closest to the living room is mine." She pointed on the other side to another door. "Bathroom." She gave him a smile. "Make yourself at home." Shrugging out of her jacket, she tossed it on the back of the couch, then leaned against it, turning to look at him. She let her eyes roam up and down him. "So, give me the verdict. Is my facility passable or pathetic? I do plan to expand someday, but I have to save up first."
Gerwulf knew a few things about bikes, though he trusted certain types more than others. Like the wartime Ural bikes, twin-engine monstrosities, or even custom-built cafe-racers, which were basically death traps. As they approached her building, he raised a brow at the sign and glass windowed ground floor. It meant that it wasn't that poor of a neighborhood, as most of the places he thought were less affluent parts of towns were usually bound in iron. Dragging the bike along, he walked in through the side door and pushed the wheeled thing into the storage room before kicking the stand down.
"Just needs to be big enough to stretch, honestly," He commented as he spied the area and the gym section. Nodding as he stepped further into the building while she showed off. "Sounds good, I love showing off," Gerwulf said with a chuckle as he tilted his head. Following her further, he received the tour that she spoke of before. Going upstairs after Aesa, his eyes glued to her body as they moved, and that was only because there was nowhere else to look. "Don't mind if I do, and it is more than passable. You'd need to build up your foundations first before expanding. Seen too many businesses go down because of that." Commenting as he pulled off his own jacket and threw it onto the couch.
Letting Aesa's eyes roam as he glanced back at the bathroom. "Wouldn't happen to have a towel... I'd love a shower after the day I've had." Still smiling along with her. Then slowly, he stepped up to her, slowly moving his arms around her waist like he were going to start dancing. "I know this is a little forward..." Using her own kind of sentiment, as he waggled his brow with that smile turning a little goofier. "Thank you for opening your doors to a stranger like me. How could I ever repay you?" The line straight out of a cheesy romance novel, because that was what it was.
