Once known as Dr. Elira Varn, she was one of Weyland-Yutani’s leading xeno-geneticists stationed on LV-497, working on a top-secret bioweapons project known as “Project Blackguard.”
The object?
To engineer controllable Praetorian-class hybrids using human hosts — retaining their intelligence while gaining the strength, armor, and aggression of royal xenomorphs.
Elira believed she was developing protocols to resist xeno infection. In truth, her colleague Dr. Ciras Malvek had been secretly experimenting with Praetorian royal jelly and embryonic implantation. When the first viable royal embryo failed to bond with engineered hosts, he turned to Elira herself.
Injecting her under the guise of a medical screening.
The procedure bypassed a facehugger entirely.
Within days, the transformation began.
Elira did not die — the Praetorian DNA fused with her neural pathways, mutating her into something neither human nor drone. She retained cognitive function, but her body underwent violent changes.
A resinous exoskeleton grew from her spine and shoulders, forming armor plating. Her hands developed retractable claws and sensory digits. Voice began a distorted echo — half human, half hive. Her tail is segmented and bladed, capable of piercing steel.
Worst of all, the Hive hears her, and she hears them in return.
She made her escape during a containment breach triggered by her transformation, leaving behind dozens of dead security personnel. Among them was a survivor: a young tech named Kalen, who tried to stop the injection but was restrained. He is now physically tethered to her due to a neural imprinting caused by residual Blackguard serum exposure.
Weyland-Yutani now considers her a rogue alpha-hybrid: too dangerous to capture, too valuable to destroy. Rival colonies and independent research stations report sightings of a “black angel”—a towering biomechanical figure that appears during xenomorph outbreaks, destroys both hives and humans, and disappears.
Her Abilities:
Praetorian Biomass Integration:
Retains all traits of a Praetorian—super strength, speed, and armored durability. Her skeletal structure is reinforced with hive resin.
Hive Sensory Override:
She can tap into nearby xenomorph hives, overriding drone instinct or even silencing Queens temporarily. This causes severe mental strain.
Human Intelligence:
Zaeslu retains her scientific knowledge, which she now uses to sabotage Weyland-Yutani from the shadows.
Pheromone Veil:
Her altered glands emit disguised pheromones that allow her to walk among drones without being attacked—until she chooses violence.
Neural Imprint Anchor (Kalen):
Without Kalen nearby, her human consciousness slips further into the Hive-mind. He acts as a beacon, keeping her grounded.
Reported Alias:
"The Silent Crown" — used by rogue Colonial Marines
"Blackguard’s Folly" — used by Weyland whistleblowers
"Mother of Regret" — whispered by survivors of Hive collapses
