The Sacrament of Nyx

City ;  Prague, Czech Republic.

Haven ;  Vyšehrad Cemetery / Old Town, Czechia Catacombs

The Sacrament of Nyx was founded on two basic principles: Freedom and Loyalty. Each Vampyr is taught that they are part of a larger reality in which their life is dependent on those with whom they are bonded. Every Turned Vampyr has a bond with the Regent(s). For they are the Scions of Nyx - direct descendants who have turned Vampyr and expanded our society. And those Vampyr turned their own Vampyr creating more bonds. Every bond is always bonded to the Regent, but the strongest bond is with the Vampyr which turns you. The Sacrament also teaches new Vampyr that it is their responsibility to become as strong as possible in order to be effective warriors against the Order of Valkyr and those that are not Blood of Nyx. They are un-living proof of Darwin's theory, the strong survive. There is heavy emphasis on the creation and recognition of new Vampyrs, chosen for their strength. They are then put through trials to prove themselves. Sacrament Vampyrs feel they are superior to humans. They feel no sympathy for humans; indeed, to live and act human, to feel human, is against their nature. Fledglings, due to being newly turned, may still feel a desire to live and act human. It is more important than ever that all Fledglings remain with the Sacrament until they understand all of our ways.  The Sacrament will occasionally use mortals as followers, servants, and spies. Mortal retainers are viewed as property and their owner may use them in any manner they see fit.

`God kills, and so shall we; indiscriminately He takes the richest and the poorest, and so shall we; for no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves, dark angels not confined to the stinking limits of hell but wandering His earth and all its kingdoms.`` - Interview With the Vampyr

The creation of the Vampyr and the Scions of Nyx

When our Goddess Nyx came from Absolom and delivered a child unto Earth, she knew she was carving a new path for her kind. It would not be an easy path and as any time had come before she knew her children would be targeted for their haunting resemblance to her and for their insatiable hunger.

She gifted them with talons forged from the strength of Absolom. Their fangs would be able to pierce through any flesh and eyes that glowed as red as the Blood Moon. Skin as cold as glaciers and strength unparalleled. She wanted those who hunted them to tremble with fear when they neared and know that as they were hunted, the hunted would be the Hunter. In her gift she bestowed upon them a goddess’s beauty which made them look like the statues carved in marble. Flawless. Ethereal. Frozen in time.

To lead them, she bestowed her strongest gifts on the Scions of Nyx with the ability to become stronger the larger the Blood of Nyx became. They would be her direct descendants and among them the strongest Scion would become Regent, leading them to flourish. The rest would become the Regent’s court and in turn could expand their houses gaining the strength of many.
