Hers was a world torn apart by war, from the time she was only a youngling barely old enough to maintain her transformations the factions of Aemir were clashing like legendary titans. Destroying the once beautiful planet they called home. Some dragon clans wanted no part in the war, which was definitely the case when it came to the mostly secluded thunder dragon clan. The clan that Vespera was born to, though wanting to stay out of it and being allowed to were two very different things. Most of the beast clans had gotten involved in the war a long time ago, either by choice or necessity. Something which will likely never be known for sure.

Known for their might and their mastery over the immense power of the storms themselves, the thunder dragons were considered the most powerful of the beast clans. It was no surprise that people wished for their aid in finally winning the war. Yet it was a cause they had no desire to be a part of, the war was a pointless endeavor that neither side could possibly win. Something that the lord of their clan made abundantly clear to the Dragon Queen. Not that his advice was heeded. The bestial woman was long known for her savagery and simply wouldn't hear of this notion that the war could not be won.

She pressed and pressured the weather working dragons into servitude within her army, even resorting to threatening their younglings should they refuse her. With no choice left they were drawn into the fighting in an effort to protect their children. But where the mighty Dragon Queen saw to teach the other tribes a lesson, all she succeeded in doing was decimating everything.

The once great lands of Aemir were were completely desolated, the very atmosphere itself unable to continue to sustain life. And to make matters worse, neither side had emerged the victor in this clash of bestial titans. It was exactly as the lord had warned his Queen would happen. A great sadness enveloped the land as the Mages, the only people who'd truly stayed out of the war and refused to back either side tore open portals that would lead the inhabitants of the once great nation off to worlds unknown.

Vespera whilst having lived somewhere over the two hundred year span was still considered something of a youngling during the great war of Aemir. She knew the stories, how the savage Dragon Queen had gone to war with several other kinds of shifters which had also called the great nation their home. How her own clan had tried their utmost to stay out of the war with little success. How the Mages were forced to open portals and evacuate the entire population to places unknown.

She knew the stories, but she'd been spared actually having to be a part of the destruction of their home.

That was how she found herself residing somewhere other than where she was born, having to put up with the company of a halfling fae that had taken it upon herself to try and teach the somewhat grumpy dragoness what proper manners actually entailed. Which according to Niamh, was not threatening to eat people whom annoyed you. A notion Ves finds extreme absurd. What was the point of having the ability to eat someone for pissing you off if you didn't utilise it? Perhaps she should just eat the faeling, she'd been tempted to a time or two just to make the woman cease lecturing her. However she has yet to actually follow through on the urge. No, the faeling definitely hasn't grown on her. She can't stand the woman. Or at least that's what she continues to claim, whom knows the truth of the matter.

Niamh serves almost like Vespera's conscience, reminding her what good manners are. Scolding her for threatening to eat people etc.. they have a semi antagonistic relationship. Ves claims that she dislikes the faeling but she hasn't eaten her yet. Frenemies at best.

Niamh is a dual elemental wielder, possessing both water and earth magic and an animal lover. With both a german shepherd/husky mix and a cat living with her.

  • The ensuing noise made from Vespera practically dying quickly caught his attention, making him dart both serpentine eyes her way. Seeing her reaction left him visibly frozen for a hot minute- was she laughing at him? As the realization settled in, both ears shifted to pin themselves back from getting so unbelievably flustered, followed by the scales on his neck rising again, but not for the same reason as earlier. If Gleeon were in his human facade, his face would’ve gone dark red by now.

Briefing turning his head back, a gaze was cast on the smoking remains of those vines.

‘If they really wanted a fight, that dragon chick had a good chance to hit me right then and there.’ He thought.

Bringing his attention back to both females, both gold hues widened slightly. “Wait, where’d that one dragoness go- Oh…”

When finding said woman out in the nude, his eyes widened to the point of nearly bursting. Just like that, his neck scales dropped back into place. In that moment, the Eastern Dragon forgot he was incapable of blushing in this body and immediately covered most of his face in both front claws, attempting to look away. The serpent was now on the verge of melting from seeing Vespera’s exposed body.

“You two are going to be the death of me, I swear-” The group founder grumbled, “I’m Gleeon, founder of a monster sanctuary. I’d shift right now, but I’d be naked too, so that’s a no-go.” Their visitor said to introduce himself despite feeling flustered in more ways than one.

  • ‘Dear gods, and I thought Oria was loud.’ On his way out, his head shook while hearing that woman holler angrily at him from a short distance away. Since their first meeting was outright soured, he wasn’t having any of it. Truth be told, the Oriential Dragon half expected at least one to shoot him in the back or something along those lines. Since his mood had deteriorated, there was little to no motivation for a fight with them.

    Until~

The serpent flinched when hearing all those vines and other plant matter suddenly envelop his figure by complete surprise. What followed was a series of snarls, growls, and him thrashing about violently, even attempting to roll at one point which made it worse. That didn’t stop him from squirming in the grip of whatever Niamh had just unleashed on him, getting out seemed like a difficult task now.

After a few seconds, Gleeon stopped, letting out a loud, audible huff as both eyes rolled in disappointment. How could he not have anticipated this? All the beast could do was lay there and shoot the two females a long, silent glare while thinking of a way to free himself. Maybe there was no walking away from it.

Getting an idea, both front claws opened their palms to spread out his draconic digits. Huge amounts of electricity began sparking all over his body, slowly but surely frying the vines that held him in place as they blackened from this. Once enough of them had been charred and weakened, the Black Corax broke free and ripped them off his body.

Turning back to them with a narrowed gaze, said eastern dragon approached without saying a word and did not radiate static this time. He stopped once within earshot of the duo, standing on all fours.

“Ladies, I came here to pick up some herbs to treat a serious problem that sprung up earlier, and wanted to stretch my legs while here. I’ve spent a lot of time dodging and disposing of beast hunters, and let me tell you both: I’m really tired of fighting and not the least bit interested in doing it. I. Hate. Violence. If you’re still having doubts, look in the damn bag.”

Using the end of his tail, a tan overnight bag was plucked off one of his rudder-like fins before tossing it toward Niamh’s feet. Should she or Vespera check, there were car keys, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, a few potion bottles heavily cushioned, and~ multiple herbs inside a ziplock bag, as described. Beyond that, there were a few other random items.

"I think we can all agree that we got off to a bad start."

  • His gold and black orbs tracked Vespera’s movements, even after she landed. Being shown her fangs made the scales on the back of his neck visibly rise up in response, much like an agitated bird raising its feathers. At this rate, the group founder wanted to distance himself from this situation since they came off as equally suspicious, and he was concerned that his may or may not be an attempt to let his guard down.

Hearing that it was the fact Gleeon was a shifter really did not sit well with him, and to the Hybrid, it came off as discriminatory.

“How do I know that your friend isn’t going to shoot me if I change? I can’t risk this being an ambush.” Questioned the Black Corax, who was also having trust issues since they were off to a horrible start. He stared back with a narrowed gaze, already refusing to morph. By now, the shifter wondered what all this was really about despite Niamh telling the truth. Both parties likely had a horrible misunderstanding of each

After a brief moment of silence, an audible huff parted from his nostrils once a decision was made, one that he felt was the right one without starting a massive fight.

“Honestly- if me being here bothers people that much, I’ll just go…” Out of frustration, the serpentine male shook his head and made a one-eighty turn, having just spoken in a bitter tone. His guard was kept up in case Vespera got any ideas by keeping both ears perked up. Without making any sudden movements, a few steps were taken in an attempt to walk away. He was so riled up from this that his ears heated up from all this.

If either female wanted to talk with Gleeon and stop him from leaving, now was the time. Otherwise, they might not see him again.

  • Despite how noisy their surroundings became from howling winds and thunder crackling overhead, the Oriental Dragon could still hear a certain smaller female holler from below, prompting him to dart his gold hues toward her. Once it was evident that those two somehow knew each other, there was a pause, followed by silence while contemplating on what to do. He couldn’t let his guard down with that Dragoness, in case this was some kind of ambush.

Gradually, his altitude decreased, lowering himself to ground level without making any sudden movements. Still, his gaze remained locked on Vespera to avoid giving anyone a chance to strike while he wasn’t paying attention. A long, audible exhale parted from his maw, his body still radiating with static electricity. Gleeon was now facing Niamh.

“...What would I get out of attacking some random woman and her pet?” Questioned their visitor from a short distance away, who narrowed his eyes slightly at the assumption. Shifting his head up to the Dragoness, the electricity on his body dissipated.

“You’re scaring the dog with all that lightning! Give the fuzz ball a break!” Hollered the Black Corax, who expressed concern for Niamh’s canine friend since that poor animal was probably terrified beyond words.

Soon, his attention returned to the Faeling, “How about we talk instead? I’m not the least bit interested in fighting, especially with that little guy present.”

At least now they both knew he loathed animal cruelty, which was a positive sign.

  • Well, at least she wasn’t attacking first, so far. His hopes of avoiding a fight dwindled once she started charging up something in her maw upon laying eyes on the other female. His gold and black hues locked back onto the Dragoness while preparing to redirect a possible lightning strike. In his mind, they were about to run the risk of killing a civilian on accident, and that was an absolute no-no for him. He needed to either get that woman away from them, or draw the large female elsewhere, this got him thinking.

“Don’t know if you can understand me, but we should take this fight where there won’t be collateral damage or unwilling participants getting hurt! Granted you don’t shoot me in the back on our way elsewhere!” Using a free claw, one of his sharp digits would point toward Niamh, as if warning her about their visitor. It was evident that the mystery Asian Dragon was unaware the two were associated with each other, and was concerned about her getting caught in their crossfire. He wasn’t interested in Vespera’s roommate.

“What will it be Storm Dragon?” Questioned the Black Corax, who eagerly waited for a response from his potential opponent. Truth be told, Gleeon half expected this stranger to start shooting at him regardless since European Dragons were naturally violent beings, and negotiating didn’t always work. Even with the brewing storm above him, he wasn’t the least bit fearful due to having similar abilities, levitating there idly.

For a stranger, the Serpentine male was at least sensible as Vespera just saw.

  • There was- a slight feeling of unease that grew, as if sensing another great presence in his vicinity, likely due to the fact most dragons had a high amount of magical circuits naturally. This prompted him to perk his head up after spending the past two minutes drinking water, glancing around for any signs of trouble. Eventually, both gold and onyx hues shifted up to find the heavens suddenly darkening, followed by what seemed like a brewing storm. Something wasn’t right.

Soon, the male serpent noticed her, clad in armored scales, and causing a lot of static discharges when heading towards his position. “Ohhhh this isn’t good…” He grumbled, taking a few steps back since it wasn’t safe to be near water. Judging by the speed of said Dragoness, she didn’t seem very interested in talking. The scales on the back of his neck rose up, much like a bird getting riled up.

To avoid whatever oncoming hit this female might have, the Black Corax quickly ascended vertically via air manipulation. He quickly gained some altitude to bring himself above the tree line at the same height as her. Across his onyx exterior, sparks began appearing, revealing that he too could wield electricity. This was more of a defensive move since Gleeon was preparing for lightning re-direction in case a bolt was sent his way.

For now, the Eastern Dragon waited to see if Vespera would go through with this attack, or if this was only an attempt to intimidate him while hovering there. It did make him wonder if this newcomer was a feral beast or sentient at all, maybe just territorial. Either way, he hoped this wasn’t about to turn into an outright brawl, but the group founder might not have a choice.

A moment later, said snake-like reptile glanced down at Niamh upon noticing her, and the animal companion she brought, but his expression was one of indifference. His attention quickly shifted back to the Dragoness as both front legs spread themselves out when facing her.

  • Great page, let me know if you'd like to write together sometime.

  • In order to obtain some rare herbs for a special potion he wanted to brew, Gleeon would need to head for Ireland. Since this was to be a long trip, a small cottage was booked rather than a hotel, just to avoid the likelihood of someone catching him in feral form. To stretch his legs, the group founder decided to venture out before starting his search for a certain herb, thankfully there was a place he could do so in his true appearance.

His choice of location was a local park, where he could catch some fresh air, go on a long walk, and compose his thoughts. As far as he knew- the place was abandoned, people rarely ever ventured there. Because of this, it could be the perfect spot for him to free-roam in feral form without the risk of being seen by mortal eyes, which certainly meant that hunters would be called upon him if said witnesses ever reported it.

Little did he know, someone /was/ going to be there simultaneously and catch more than a glimpse.

On that fateful evening, the Warlock slipped into some black cargo pants and a dark gray T-shirt, taking with him only his wallet, keys, and a duffle bag containing emergency items. Upon exiting his cottage, the man quickly morphed in the backyard, instantly transitioning into the black-scaled leviathan he was. Within seconds he took off through levitation, accelerating through the air like a projectile.

    . . .

The property consisted of crumbled pathways, overshadowed by towering trees that formed a forest around it all. Natural light was still able to illuminate it since it was clear skies that day. The once-trimmed grass had grown a lot, mixed with weeds all over the place. A few old and slightly rusted iron benches could be found. The sounds of birds chirping and cicadas singing away filled much of the air.

At the derelict park grounds, the Black Corax dragon descended, slowing himself to a halt on a clearing that contained some overgrowth, and a large duck pond just a few meters away. The large serpent clad in onyx scales walked on all fours, his rudder-like fins brushing against blades of tall grass when doing so.

Approaching said pond, the enormous reptile lowered his streamlined snout just above its surface. Slowly, his maw was dipped in, only to scoop up some water before gulping it down. This continued multiple times as Gleeon drank from it, thankfully his body wasn’t prone to catching any weird illnesses from untreated waters like this, and did so without any second thought.

Little did he know- another dragon might be lurking.
