Character History/Story
Jasper Krane - Self proclaimed orphan and aspiring artist
Son to Henry and Olivia Krane - junkies and usually unemployed
If you asked Jasper what his childhood was like he'd to tell you it was pretty normal, not much different from anyone else's.
Because let's be honest, no one wants to hear about how as a child he spent a lot of time alone, confined to his room, drawing on his walls for some sort of escape while his parents were out in the living room strung out on who knows what or gone at all hours of the night with whoever was giving them their daily fix.
People didn't want to hear about how he'd come to school reeking of cigarette smoke or with dirty clothes and greasy hair because he hadn't bathed in a week. They didn't want to hear about the bruises and cigarette burns that littered his skin some days.
So he'd feed them some sort of fabricated story. How his family regularly had weekends out at the park or the state fair whenever it was in town, and how once every summer they'd take a trip out of state and spend the week at a beach resort and have the best time of his life. He'd tell them how they ate dinner together most nights and how Christmas was his favorite holiday. It worked, people believed him, and loved to hear about this fake past he'd fed them to hide the darker truth
When he was taken and put into the foster care system when he was just barely a tween things didn't improve too much.
Some of the families were nice, but most were obviously just in it for the money and didn't really care about the kids in their care. Jasper did his best to follow the rules and be good in the hopes that he would find a real family some day, but he had no such luck.
He aged out of the foster care system. After working a few odd and dead end jobs and even selling his paintings and drawings and a brief stint where he was homeless and forced to do a few things he wasn't too proud of, the kinds of things that left traces on your skin that all the baths and scrubbing in the world couldnt wash away, he managed to scrape together enough funds to purchase a mobile camper. It was old, probably dated back to the 70s and held together by duct tape, zip ties, and hopes and prayers. But it was his and he'd make something of it.
Jasper now spends his time traveling from city to city selling his artwork and painting murals for businesses. While it wasn't ideal, he loved it. He was doing something he loved, seeing different sights and people, and he was free.
Character Inventory
He carries a worn out faded black backpack that holds a sketchbook and pencils, snacks, money and his phone charger.

Legacy stalked her prey despite the heavy rains lashing at her eyes and fur. She hated rain. She cursed its very existence under her breath. This was perhaps her best lead yet and she was damned if she would lose the trail so quickly. What she stalked wasn't a plump mouse or feathered bird, but a human. At least, that is what she appeared to be. Legacy knew better, however. Her sources told her that this female was linked to someone she had been searching for. How long had it been? Oh, right. Just a few months at best. Blasted old witch. Nothing but crow-food, that one.
But the rain was making it nearly impossible!
Bunching the muscles in her hind end, Legacy leaped onto a bunch of trash cans. From there, she leaped up onto the garage and a second later the roof. Much of the buildings here were small homes and dingy hotels. They were claustrophobically close to each other, so it was fairly easy to jump from roof to roof. The height gave her an advantage in the pursuit of her quarry. What she would do once she caught up with the human, she had no idea.
She didn't think that far ahead.
A problem, that.
Her paws landed on a metal roof. The rain had made it slick. With a yowl, she lost her balance and began to tumble down the sloping tin. Her paws scrambled to find purchase on the smooth metal. At the last moment, her claws sank in. The screech of claws raking across metal was cringe worthy to anyone within earshot. Most likely, to the people inside, who'd be awoken to the terrible noise.
Legacy found herself hanging by the edge. With a ferocious hiss, she managed to peel herself up and over. Her claws were now tender and sore. She looked around wildly for a safe spot to descend. When she reached the ground, she gazed around wildly. The woman was gone! Her tail lashed angrily from side to side. Not only was she soaked to the bone and exhausted, she had now lost her one and only lead. She glanced down where a pool of water had developed. The rain, which had once been pouring in angry sheets, now began to lighten to a drizzle. Because of course it would!
She caught her muddled face in the reflection of the pool. Her beautiful fur, which boasted multiple shades of brown, was stuck flat to her lean body. Even with the reflection of the moon in the pool above her face, she looked like a drowned rat. Her face contorted to a grimace as her tail drooped.
Great. Just great.
