Casual Preface

Rather than using a dedicated character, I prefer to roleplay through multiple characters/perspectives within various settings. I may not have a primary character, but I can treat each character with the same weight and significance as though they were provided an in-depth biography among relevant data.

For anyone who prefers to interact with a singular or shorter cast of characters, I will provide short descriptions below to offer a basic premise. If you prefer for characters to have a bio/sheet, ask me and I can create something that can suit your preference.

The Sanctum Library itself is a magical library that can be accessed through a special tome within the Sanctum Cafe [Sanctum Café - Writer's Realm - Roleplay (wrealms.com)]. You do not have to be part of the Sanctum Cafe group to interact with the library (my profile), although I encourage you to check it out.

Basic Info

The expansive library exists in a proxy dimension that is accessible only through a particular Tome. The cover is void of text or images, but indistinct whispers--an indistinguishable amalgam of every current conversation and thought within the library--can be heard from the pages for the person or people touching it. Simply opening the book can cause the unsuspecting holder to be transported into the library.

Each book within the library records various realities, including fictional events, which allows any reader to enter and relive/alter the course of events. Furthermore, any character entering a book may undergo some sort of anomaly, such as the loss of memory or a limb. Typically, characters who enter may become transformed/modified to match a setting or culture found within the book.

There are no original transcripts that are publically accessible. Every book is an easily replaceable copy, which generates a hyper-realistic dimension based on the characters, settings, events, and other factors described within the book. Depending on the reader, they may enter a book to intentionally overwrite or add to the book's content by living through the setting as a character. Physically writing in books will not work for unauthorized people. Stealing, damaging, or modifying books as a reader is not possible.

Fletcher Hodgson

Home Setting: Sanctum Library

Role: Assistant Director of the Sanctum Library

Short Description: His short, ginger hair is brushed back with a silver-coated paperclip worn above his right ear. While he resembles an ectomorphic human, his current aesthetic merely resembles his mortal body before became "Sanctified." Sanctification, differing from the Christian counterpart, allows certain mortals to ascend to a certain level of godhood. In a technical sense, those who are considered to be sanctified are not quite gods, but no longer human/mortal. His role as the assistant director usually keeps him from exiting the Sanctum Library, but he may readily interact with its patrons. If possible, he would be one of the best people to ask for help regarding the books or the library itself.

Trinity Lucile

Home Setting: Sanctum Library

Role: Page of Mythology

Short Description: Trinity is an ordinary human with no magical capability. She is bald with two silvery, horizontal lines tattooed on her forehead. Her role as a Page has her handle the logistics and organization of books within the library's mythology section. While there are more Pages in this jurisdiction, such as Yana Kalvaine and Luther Conn, Trinity is the most knowledgeable of various mythological studies and observations throughout many realities lined across the shelves.

Home Setting: Traverse City, Michigan

Role: Patron - Painite-Grade Reader

Short Description: Mikan is an ordinary human with a dark complexion. He often wears a bright-colored sweater vest over a dark-colored flannel shirt, but is more easily distinguished by his iconic serpent-shaped 

Sections of the Library

Everyone enters the library within an ovular chamber with a short corridor that leads into the central lobby. The library is layered with various sections by function or theme, such as gathering areas, collection areas (where literary works are stored), and presentation areas. 

Other library sections include, but are not limited to: historic theology, systematic theology, practical theology, formal science, natural science, social science, communication, phonetics, phonology, morphology (linguistics), and many more relatively mundane subjects.

Additionally, many topics are dedicated solely to supernatural topics. Examples include aetherial botany, thaumaturgical archeology, theurgic alchemy, geometric sortilege, and many more magic-driven subjects.

Terminology

These terms may be used by me in the library, but may otherwise be irrelevant when it pertains to other settings.

More terms may be added over time. There is no definitive magic system or supernatural terminology.

Many terms may be arbitrary and exclusive to the Sanctum Library.

Page- An occupation within the library that primarily deals with the logistics and organization of books, typically within a specific section. (Library pages are a real-world job).

Reader- Everyone may become a Reader, which are people who can transport inside a book to interact with its reality as a consequential character. There are various grades of readers, which indicate who can transfer into certain books.

Reader Grades- The grades from lowest to highest are Jadeite, Serendibite, Painite, Alexandrite, Emerald, and Tanzanite. Based on rare gemstones.

Spectator- Readers who choose to simply read a book without interacting inside of their reality is colloquially referred to as a Spectator. There are no relevant grade systems, aside from superficial academic systems based on a person's general reading level. 

Librarian- While Pages are a category of Librarian, Librarians overall are employed personnel who have special access to books and areas within the library.

Librarian Grades- Librarian grades do not directly translate to their occupation. These grades are not available to patrons. The four librarian grades are Cobalt, Palladium, Platinum, and Rhenium. Based on rare metals. Each Librarian Grade is ranked higher than all Reader Grades.

Book- Every book is enchanted to allow readers to enter a fabricated (or real) reality. Death within the book can most likely lead to permanent psychological or physical damage. For non-fiction books, death is real and likely permanent. For books without an apparent storyline or setting, such as academic journals, advanced Readers can enter the book to manifest their personality reality within the confines of established information. Oftentimes, a Library Technician or high position will provide a blank book that is linked to a source content.
