She was inevitable

She was ruthless

She embodied the definition of karma

Let her play, or get the fuck away.

After undergoing rehabilitation at the Hunter Society Headquarters, her irrational behavior and destructiveness simmered down immensely. It's as if she's a different person, but it doesn't mean her violent tendencies have escaped her. In fact, her being calmer just makes her all the more deadlier. She used to whistle for people to hear her approach, but now with a clearer mind makes for a quicker, more strategic approach in taking down targets. Agnes' reputation still stands as an insane, trigger-happy monster to strangers trespassing her territory and most of the underground, and proving them wrong makes her job all the more pleasurable.

She's cold, stark, and brutally honest with strangers. If you aren't a nuisance, you're competition, and if you put up with her just enough, you may even befriend her. This is harder for women than it is for men, not that she prefers one over the other, but the fact that the intensity of her Type A personality tends to spark conflict or drive them away. To her friends, Agnes is compassionate and a little silly even, teasing them in a playful manner.
However, she is incredibly selective of the inner circle she maintains. Agnes is a New Yorker with a spitfire attitude
that lies beneath a calm, sophisticated demeanor.

Her past is dark and twisted, the entirety of her childhood was devoted to becoming a trained marksman for a corporate mafia family in Manhattan, NYC. One event led up to another for the next four years, an organized coup occurred that she took part in, dissolving the family's name, yet the business was immediately taken by her drill instructor that he withheld. Agnes remained close to her former instructor and to the details of his business.

Nine years later, his assets were choked by another mafia boss attempting to his usurp his resources. Agnes was told to murder her former instructor, with some help, as he was about to give in to this interloper's demands. After his untimely death and successfully disposed of the intruding mafia boss, Agnes finds herself with more power than she had ever asked for. She now runs half of the borough's manfacturing, shipment, and transactions of weapons of trade. Agnes knew enough about the quality of artillery, but didn't know she would be knee deep in the arms industry.

Her territory stretches from the Upper West Side to below Hell's Kitchen. Her colleague, Apollonius Grimm, has the other half, as equal as it can get. With a calmer demeanor, Agnes attempts to not abuse her power. Her hands don't get as dirty as her previous job, but at times she will personally check exports and is conscious about the safety of her men if a transaction goes awry.

Another source of income for Agnes is being the co-owner of a bar and cafe called Sundown. It was once a rustic, narrow bar in Hell's Kitchen, but after getting her new occupation, it has moved into Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side. Her bad reputation and mysticized beast form has made the bar an attraction for tourists, Agnes blames the locals for this. She used to be the bouncer for Sundown, but after the notoriety began, Spencer, co-owner/parental figure, took up the job to prevent anymore unwanted attention coming her way. Sundown is the ground level entrance to high-end apartments above it where Agnes resides, so she is typically seen there for leisure or to converse with Spencer.

(2/5)A bar called Egress, runned by a man by the name of Finnick, happens to be the prime spot for all of these people. So if you're ever in the market for the services of one of these professional, and of course if you have the right connections, you might want to make your way into the Egress. As they say in the city of Graven, You'll just never know.

Agnes wears light, breathable clothes when running through the streets, and isn't afraid to show some skin, even in the coldest weather. Her raven locks spill over her shoulders, lacking any dye as she has decided to keep her natural hair. Agnes has metallic blue eyes like her father and pale skin like her mother. A dull tattoo of three roses and an upside-down compass lies just below her right shoulder.

She has something close to a Jersey/Brooklyn accent. When the wolf skull materializes, so do a pair of wolf ears, serving as a great indicator of her emotions due to the fact that her face is concealed. Agnes's physique is lean and toned, free running through allies and parkour on rooftops. She has enhanced senses, her most powerful is being able to smell someone familiar three city blocks away. The wolf grants her increased endurance, stamina, speed, and strength.

"That's Not All, Folks."

Agnes can shift into a hellish creature that she inherits from her mother, a massive dire wolf with some areas of her skeleton revealed. She has already allowed the wolf to swallow up her humanity at a young age, being in complete control in this form that acts almost like a power-up. However, there are consequences when using the wolf, one being that she is stuck in this form for the next couple of days and once reverted Agnes becomes immensely lethargic, becoming vulnerable to her enemies.

Dominic has been the quickest relation Agnes has ever made. It started off with a debt after Dominic gave her a job to do, but they found themselves around each other more often than not.  The vampire knows more about her than anyone she's ever met, and she trusts in him to maintain that secrecy. Complicated feelings floated to the surface, Agnes has never been more sure of her feelings. She has always adored the vampire, but with issues of his coven coming to light, Agnes can't imagine her life without him. She loves him, more than words can explain, and will do everything in her power to keep him close and comfortable.

• Due to help in unlikely places, Agnes and her demons are one and the same. Her blood is black, and too toxic to harbor a child, so she believes. Another result are two new powers. One being the ability to manipulate shadows for her to hide in and travel in short distances beneath its veil. The other being an increase in strength.

• Agnes is just as deadly without her ammunition. While she was learning how to handle a sniper rifle at the age of twelve, Agnes was being trained in Brazilian ju-jitsu, eskrima, as well as parkour to build her stamina and endurance while she was in the mafia. She was pitted against full grown, trained men over and over until Agnes became highly proficient at all three.

• Agnes is fluent in English, Italian, and French, and understands bits and pieces of Japanese from her instructor when she was younger. She's eager to have more languages under her belt.

• Agnes prefers to adopt her father's last name, 'Hale'. She knows she has relatives, but they all stem from her mother's side, who she disowned.

• She never had a childhood, pop culture references fly over her head. That's in the works of being fixed.

• Her birthday is on Halloween

Louie is a two year old Shetland Sheepdog that is now Agnes' current roommate. Being alone in a spacious apartment was detrimental to her mental health, so Agnes decided to adopt a dog. He's helped Agnes cope when she's alone and destress after work. If Agnes is casually lounging somewhere outside, he's normally found at her side as well. Louie isn't a guard dog, and generally loves attention and affection, but he becomes territorial when provoked by strangers. When Agnes has to travel, Louie is taken care of by her business partner, Spencer.

Nik was one of the first friends that left an impression on her. After knowing she didn't have a regular childhood, he took the initiative to show just what she missed. Activities like camping and ice skating were things Agnes had never done, and it gave her a glimpse at how a normal life felt like. Their encounters have decreased, however when they do happen, it's typically over a bit of pizza with nothing business related whatsoever. Agnes is aware of the struggles he has as a vessel, but attempts to distract him of them to the best of her ability.

For the first ten years of her life, Agnes didn't know this man existed, her own father by blood. Her mother raised her until she was around eleven, rejected by the only family she knew after the demon wolf within her began to devour her humanity. Fortunately, she was told her father lived in the city, but when she made her way there, the mafia took her away for the next four years. That's a story for another time.

The next time she was in the city and accidentally bumped into him, Agnes unleashed a level of fury onto him that she had never shown anyone before. Since then, they've been on iffy grounds. The night before, they could be trying to kill each other, and the morning after they share a bowl of cereal. As of now, their confrontations have become more peaceful due to her time in rehabilitation in the Hunter Society Headquarters, for now they have something close to a truce it's complicated. Even then, her relationship to her father is one of the most capricious bonds she has ever formed. Almost once a year, she sees him sitting in Sundown and joins him to take a moment to recall the past year as both of them have gotten busier since her rehabilitation.

Agnes has to admit the change in her behavior was all due to this woman's actions. Alice O'Malley has always been the one to stop Agnes from running amok. After murdering a mentor of hers, they've been on rockier ground. Now that Agnes has become more reformed, she doesn't see Alice as often as she used to, unless its by coincidence. Nevertheless, despite their rough introduction, Agnes respects the Huntress for her efforts in setting her on a better path.

  • His lips met hers for as long as she would have him, warding off the frustration or worry for the time being. “We can, and we will, Love.” Dominic hummed with a sense of absolution to it. “Just… not tomorrow.” He added simply, with a half-smile at the corner of his mouth. One day at a time, that was how the normally plan-heavy vampire was forcing himself to perceive it. Not to mention, life outside themselves would still need to go on. “Now sleep.”

    -/-

In the very early morning, the back door was clicked open and the shop lights turned on. His mornings always started with the basement, monitoring where the two mages were on their individual projects and making sure the walls hadn’t burned down in the late night hours. The recent few jobs and auctions had left their stock with several objects waiting to be tested or exorcised of hazards in one way or another. ‘Hit’ logs were checked for any new activity or familiar faces that had stopped in for work. There were no signs of Dahlia or Jovan, nor would there be until the mid-afternoon. Soon, the front doors were clicked open and the sign was flipped on. The shop lit up fully, and a shuffled playlist started off with Then Came The Last Days Of May by Blue Öyster Cult softly playing in the background. The record shop emails and social media were answered loftily until the bell was heard.

Nina perked up from her corner spot by the counter and purred actively when Agnes approached her, bumping the bridge of her nose against the woman’s palm. Her perch for the day was a stack of cardboard boxes where the top box was dented from her resting on top.

Dom stepped out from the back room without bothering to put on a customer service face and slipped behind the counter to his own normal perch behind it with a smile. After Agnes leaned in to kiss his cheek, he leaned into the counter and put an arm around her waist. “Good morning again, Chiot.” The quiet of the shop and an early morning visitor he could look forward to seeing… it was a trend he could get used to. Dominic listened while Agnes put out her request, deliberating quietly. Her last ‘surprise’ at the makeshift arena had left a certain taste in the vampire’s mouth.  “Dahlia and I trade out when Paradox closes, then we can walk to Sundown.” He decided. A low hum followed as he thought. “Perhaps earlier. She has an interview to hire someone today.  Someone you know, per my recommendation,” He left her with the hint and a coy smile.

  • “You can give someone the entire world, love, but peace of mind will always be a powerful thing,” Dominic responded quietly. “Nothing is void. Love isn’t something to be taken as all or nothing… it's patience, communication, and compromise. There is no promise that it will be easy. This is why we talk.” The vampire’s eyes drifted closed near the end of his words, ones he could only repeat if it came to it.

He fell quiet for a moment at her proposal, opting for following the sensations that her fingertips left behind. Dominic soon shifted to lay beside her. “I have to go in. You should come in with me. Get some rest, and come spend the day at the shop.”

  • ✞The Heir to the Throne of Dracul✞

What strange land this was. Towers of metal, stone, and glass, reaching for the skies as if trying to escape the mortal plain. Enough to drive Nimrod of Shinar mad with jealousy. Each light emitting from pillars of metal, reflecting against glass, drowning the night sky with their constant shimmering. It was all so unlike the dark mundane walls of his home, and yet it felt almost darker despite the everlasting light.

Virgil took a step out from the shadows of a tight alleyway, his leather shoes stirring the puddles of water forming from the falling waters as they touched the pavement. His eyes moved about his environment as if he was analysing the surrounding area. There was no emotion painted on his face as his gaze moved up and down, left and right. Then he lightly cocked his head upwards, drawing a single breath - one that seemingly stayed in permanently. Then he veered to the side, facing left, his steps barely making any sound at all. Perhaps drowned out by the rain. There he’d walk in relative silence for a few minutes. Or, well, as silent as it could get. Something seemed to draw him here. Like an instinct telling the birds to fly South come winter.

Suddenly, the silence was broken as a man went flying out the door not too far ahead. The voices of the people involved as clear as if they’d been standing right next to him. Nothing is a coincidence. His brow tightened ever so briefly as he looked on at the scene playing out in the distance. Fascinating how humans would so willingly poison themselves only to get an escape from their miserable existence. Ingesting things that would slowly rot their insides for “pleasure”. Virgil too had known his fair share of pain, but to go to such lengths as to ingest poison to deal with it. Perhaps that was the answer; they don’t want to deal with it so they turn to their escapes instead. This was not the first time he’d seen such a scene and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. But it fascinated him nonetheless.

He ventured closer as the drunken man stumbled away in the downpour. He knew he should feel pity, yet seeing the man wobble away into the distance stirred nothing but a hunger for understanding the reasoning behind his life choices. What could’ve driven him to such despair, and why did he let it? Questions perhaps never to be answered. Not truly, at least. Humans are unreliable after all. Either they lie to others or they lie to themselves so much that their words start sounding like the truth to themselves. Sad, in a way. It made them difficult to read, and yet simultaneously so very easy.

Other than the drunken man, there had been the voice of a woman, one who spoke with a form of authority and power that spoke of something darker. Pain, perhaps. Intriguing at the very least. Enough so to stray from his path if only to get a closer look. His pace picked up ever so slightly as he approached the place from which the drunken man had come tumbling out onto the pavement. What could have driven the woman to throw the man out with such… ah, yes, inhuman strength. A risky display, indeed. To expose oneself to a mortal in such a crowded region. He knew all too well what such displays could lead to and the thought nearly made him shudder. But now, he was upon the doorstep looking at the sign outside. Sundown? Fitting. He took a few steps forward, standing in the doorway and again scanning the space with his dead gaze.

He was dressed in clothes that seemed to once have been quite nice. Standing not much taller than the average man, he wore a deep dark red satin shirt, shrouded by a tattered leather jacket bound to his waist by a satin shawl matching the colour of his shirt. The shawl, or whatever that piece of tightly bound fabric might have been, cover the edge of black jeans that too wore the scars of battle. His hair was like ebony, done up and carefully combed with shaved sides. Only a set of two light brown irises that would reflect light with a yellow tint gave warmth to his sickly pale skin. Short stubble painted his face as well, hinting that he may not have seen a resting place for a couple days. As he stood there, it was as if his very presence drowned out the sound of the rain outside. He brought a strange aura with him inside. An aura that seemed to repel the living world around him. Like a spirit that did not belong in this world. It was as if he was there and not there simultaneously. To mortal eyes, he would probably only seem a slight bit off. But to anyone touched by the other world, he seemed unlike anything. A spirit made flesh. An abomination to the natural world.

  • You know I won't say no to that

    We goin' plotting, Ma'am.

  • He did as he was told, tucking the book back inside of his bag and slinging it over his shoulder. Dom ensured he stayed close while their surroundings changed. There was an internal panic of stepping into that dark unknown that lasted only a fleeting second in between their destination, similar to humans during a plane takeoff. She might feel it, if she was paying attention to the small squeeze he gave her hand or the way he froze up entirely. It came and passed when he recognized the silhouettes of the closet interiors, and all things about the place that felt familiar flooding back to his senses.

    -/-

Dominic’s eyes had been closed for the last several minutes. His consciousness traced her fingertips as they passed through his hair, not for the sensation, but for the fact that she bothered to do so. Attentiveness was its own form of love, and one that he favored greatly. The occasional hum or exhale made the fact known. Cold skin against her own warmth had always felt oddly at home. His eyes opened to their deep red color, glancing up to her whether her eyes were closed or not. “...If you want to be sure I trust you, then show I can trust you,” His expression was smooth, as calm as ever. “There are no shortcuts, but there is patience, communication, compromise…” Dom looked down again and placed a kiss on her collarbone, nuzzling back into her grasp. “I haven’t felt certain of anything lately, but I know I love you.”

  • “I did,” Dominic was quick to answer quietly while she unwrapped and opened the book to reveal its contents. At one chuckle or another from Agnes, his arm tightened to squeeze her gently as he shared the sentiment. “Stunning? Yes,” He answered just as casually with a grin and leaned close to place a peck on her cheek. Every small sound brought him peace and a hint of joy compared to how their night had begun. Every page flick had him sitting just a little closer beside her, no matter how many times he had opened the book for himself. For now, he wasn’t looking nor reading. He studied every detail of her expression as time passed in the book with a genuine smile spread across his lips. When she stopped at the end and their eyes met, the vampire paused momentarily before he answered.

“I have what I need,” Dominic reassured her with a bit of a guilty half-smile. Just as quick as he’d set down the ground rules, he had already broken his own. Memory was a curious thing when time marched on. It could be a dangerous thing. He still held onto some memories tighter than others.

He leaned forward and let his free hand rest along her cheek. He pressed a kiss against her lips. “I love you, Chiot… and I love the time I spend with you. I never want you to forget that."

  •  A small smile crept onto his face when he felt the tension drop off little by little. He was honed in on the steady beat of her heart coming back to rest, feeling as if a job was well done. His body seldom gave the same physical hints as hers. His relief came through as the little things. It was the gentle stroking of his fingers over her hair, or the quietly contented hums now and again that were just barely audible on his breath. The truth was, he couldn’t bring himself to stay away from her. Not for too long, no. Especially not now when he felt he needed her most.

“I’ll do my best,” Dominic murmured. It wasn’t the promise she wanted, but the one he could offer. “If you can promise me not to act.” After all, nothing about the matter was as simple and it had never been more delicate. He pulled away enough to place a tender kiss on her temple and glanced at the bag left on the ground. “I brought you something... come on,” Dom’s arms slipped away as he ushered her to take a seat with him, right there amongst the sand. He had all night, and there was no better time nor place than the present with the moon taking a center stage in the sky.

The rustling of his bag being pulled closer was bound to catch Louie’s attention, who was given a rough tousle of his fur when he drew closer, sending him off to run again. Dominic waited for her to settle in beside him, seated with his legs bent while he dug through the pouch to pull something out.

“Now, I have one rule…” Dominic started in a more upbeat tone, while he pulled the parcel out. A thin rectangular item wrapped in brown paper was held between his hands. “This is only for you. No copies.” He handed it to Agnes the moment after, and his arm went around her loosely while the other propped itself on his knee.

[Hey lurkers, go click on the [X] next to Agnes' name on my thread counter for the tea]

  • There was always a private smile in the back of Dom’s mind when Louie perked up to his presence. Not all animals did, but dogs knew forgiveness better than most. His attention flit back to Agnes when she called the canine back, drawing the vampire in all the same as he navigated the sand on his way to her. Just as quickly as he had Louie’s attention, it was gone in an instant when the piece of driftwood was thrown. It left the two to their shared silence for the moment. At Agnes’ greeting, Dominic mustered up a small nod.

“Chiot,” It sounded fragile. It left a sense of fear and dread in his chest of just what would come next. The smallest of nods once more granted her the floor; he wouldn’t have known what he wanted to say even if he was prompted. It was among the things he hadn’t quite sorted out for himself.

It left him all the patience in the world, however, to listen. He was silent for some time. His body was still, spare the wind which had pulled his hood down on the trek across the beach, and an occasional pinch of his brow when she spoke. His expression lost its sense of apprehension and settled into something forlorn. For a moment, as he thought, a sliver of age showed in the lines of the Englishman’s face. Still. Something about her words had a way of lifting the dread off his shoulders, if just for the moment.  He found himself in an odd sense of calm, following what had been days of turmoil since the night of the arena. The deep ache he had feltsince the night in London sealed his fate, still had a way of creeping into his consciousness. He couldn’t think of that now, not when her tone had a way of shifting. He let her words reach their ending where he felt they might fall apart at a moment’s notice.

Dominic drew in a steady breath and exhaled. The backpack was shrugged off and dropped. With only a step or so to span the distance, he put his arms around her and drew her in close without a second’s further hesitation. “Come here… come here,” He whispered. Her tremors were felt from the moment his hands crossed over her back, to the anxious heart that was pressed into his own chest. He had vowed never to see that side of her, should he be able to help it. He took in her familiar scent, warmth, and every nervous breath that still escaped. Several long moments passed without a word before he broke the silence. He wanted to feel her heart settle down before he spoke.

“Don’t think for a moment that I don’t need you, Love.” His voice was a low whisper with its own sense of fragileness. His hand rose to rest upon the back of her head, keeping her close. “I’ve always needed you. You don’t know how stable you make me feel when I’m around you, how at peace. You understand my burdens and you’ve done everything to lift them, more than I’d ever imagined.” His head tipped so that his forehead rest on hers. “ -But I need your trust, and your patience… and Agnes, I need you to hear me. I’ve never needed that more than now. I need you to hold me down, in the way you always do… but I can’t be worrying about what lies ahead and what’s happening behind my back.”

  • Thank you for your comment. It was such a beautiful series. I would love to rp with you. Did you have an idea in mind?

  • His phone lit up with the notification ten minutes later, causing his head to turn from across the room.

    Give me an hour.

The clock was ticking the moment he hit send, not long after the message came. Dominic disappeared into the bedroom for a change of clothes and swiped the parcel on the table into the black backpack that had accompanied him through London. His shoes were pulled on, keys grabbed, and the lights left on for Nina as he left for the rest of the night.

The sun was working its way down, getting rid of the glow of the sun he had been actively avoiding for the past few hours. The hood of a gray sweatshirt was pulled over his hair still as he stepped out of the building and started en route to the closest taxi-bearing street from the apartment. The drive felt long enough, sparing the driver of any attempt with small talk with short responses given until the questions came to a halt. He could have been making a mistake. He didn’t have the answers she wanted from him, no more than he did in the few days prior. Only more questions and frustrations yet to be unfolded. The cab came to a stop and he stepped off onto the sidewalk of Ocean Avenue to start walking. The water’s edge on the horizon was meeting with the sky still as the sun had passed well past the midpoint.

Once on the sand, glamours or not, the vampire looked to be the last person meant to be on the shore that evening. Dress shoes were littered with sand as he walked, seeking out a familiar heartbeat and a familiar dog to accompany. The other patrons were few and far between. Some couples waited out the sunset from their towels while others took one last stroll on the shore before the water became too cold. When he finally found the silhouette he was looking for, Dominic approached. He wore his own hesitant expression while he tried to search out what hers was, not turning a blind eye to Louie at her side.
