She was inevitable

She was ruthless

She embodied the definition of karma

Let her play, or get the fuck away.

After undergoing rehabilitation at the Hunter Society Headquarters, her irrational behavior and destructiveness simmered down immensely. It's as if she's a different person, but it doesn't mean her violent tendencies have escaped her. In fact, her being calmer just makes her all the more deadlier. She used to whistle for people to hear her approach, but now with a clearer mind makes for a quicker, more strategic approach in taking down targets. Agnes' reputation still stands as an insane, trigger-happy monster to strangers trespassing her territory and most of the underground, and proving them wrong makes her job all the more pleasurable.

She's cold, stark, and brutally honest with strangers. If you aren't a nuisance, you're competition, and if you put up with her just enough, you may even befriend her. This is harder for women than it is for men, not that she prefers one over the other, but the fact that the intensity of her Type A personality tends to spark conflict or drive them away. To her friends, Agnes is compassionate and a little silly even, teasing them in a playful manner.
However, she is incredibly selective of the inner circle she maintains. Agnes is a New Yorker with a spitfire attitude
that lies beneath a calm, sophisticated demeanor.

Her past is dark and twisted, the entirety of her childhood was devoted to becoming a trained marksman for a corporate mafia family in Manhattan, NYC. One event led up to another for the next four years, an organized coup occurred that she took part in, dissolving the family's name, yet the business was immediately taken by her drill instructor that he withheld. Agnes remained close to her former instructor and to the details of his business.

Nine years later, his assets were choked by another mafia boss attempting to his usurp his resources. Agnes was told to murder her former instructor, with some help, as he was about to give in to this interloper's demands. After his untimely death and successfully disposed of the intruding mafia boss, Agnes finds herself with more power than she had ever asked for. She now runs half of the borough's manfacturing, shipment, and transactions of weapons of trade. Agnes knew enough about the quality of artillery, but didn't know she would be knee deep in the arms industry.

Her territory stretches from the Upper West Side to below Hell's Kitchen. Her colleague, Apollonius Grimm, has the other half, as equal as it can get. With a calmer demeanor, Agnes attempts to not abuse her power. Her hands don't get as dirty as her previous job, but at times she will personally check exports and is conscious about the safety of her men if a transaction goes awry.

Another source of income for Agnes is being the co-owner of a bar and cafe called Sundown. It was once a rustic, narrow bar in Hell's Kitchen, but after getting her new occupation, it has moved into Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side. Her bad reputation and mysticized beast form has made the bar an attraction for tourists, Agnes blames the locals for this. She used to be the bouncer for Sundown, but after the notoriety began, Spencer, co-owner/parental figure, took up the job to prevent anymore unwanted attention coming her way. Sundown is the ground level entrance to high-end apartments above it where Agnes resides, so she is typically seen there for leisure or to converse with Spencer.

(2/5)A bar called Egress, runned by a man by the name of Finnick, happens to be the prime spot for all of these people. So if you're ever in the market for the services of one of these professional, and of course if you have the right connections, you might want to make your way into the Egress. As they say in the city of Graven, You'll just never know.

Agnes wears light, breathable clothes when running through the streets, and isn't afraid to show some skin, even in the coldest weather. Her raven locks spill over her shoulders, lacking any dye as she has decided to keep her natural hair. Agnes has metallic blue eyes like her father and pale skin like her mother. A dull tattoo of three roses and an upside-down compass lies just below her right shoulder.

She has something close to a Jersey/Brooklyn accent. When the wolf skull materializes, so do a pair of wolf ears, serving as a great indicator of her emotions due to the fact that her face is concealed. Agnes's physique is lean and toned, free running through allies and parkour on rooftops. She has enhanced senses, her most powerful is being able to smell someone familiar three city blocks away. The wolf grants her increased endurance, stamina, speed, and strength.

"That's Not All, Folks."

Agnes can shift into a hellish creature that she inherits from her mother, a massive dire wolf with some areas of her skeleton revealed. She has already allowed the wolf to swallow up her humanity at a young age, being in complete control in this form that acts almost like a power-up. However, there are consequences when using the wolf, one being that she is stuck in this form for the next couple of days and once reverted Agnes becomes immensely lethargic, becoming vulnerable to her enemies.

Dominic has been the quickest relation Agnes has ever made. It started off with a debt after Dominic gave her a job to do, but they found themselves around each other more often than not.  The vampire knows more about her than anyone she's ever met, and she trusts in him to maintain that secrecy. Complicated feelings floated to the surface, Agnes has never been more sure of her feelings. She has always adored the vampire, but with issues of his coven coming to light, Agnes can't imagine her life without him. She loves him, more than words can explain, and will do everything in her power to keep him close and comfortable.

• Due to help in unlikely places, Agnes and her demons are one and the same. Her blood is black, and too toxic to harbor a child, so she believes. Another result are two new powers. One being the ability to manipulate shadows for her to hide in and travel in short distances beneath its veil. The other being an increase in strength.

• Agnes is just as deadly without her ammunition. While she was learning how to handle a sniper rifle at the age of twelve, Agnes was being trained in Brazilian ju-jitsu, eskrima, as well as parkour to build her stamina and endurance while she was in the mafia. She was pitted against full grown, trained men over and over until Agnes became highly proficient at all three.

• Agnes is fluent in English, Italian, and French, and understands bits and pieces of Japanese from her instructor when she was younger. She's eager to have more languages under her belt.

• Agnes prefers to adopt her father's last name, 'Hale'. She knows she has relatives, but they all stem from her mother's side, who she disowned.

• She never had a childhood, pop culture references fly over her head. That's in the works of being fixed.

• Her birthday is on Halloween

He's helped Agnes cope when she's alone and destress after work. If Agnes is casually lounging somewhere outside, he's normally found at her side as well. Louie isn't a guard dog, and generally loves attention and affection, but he becomes territorial when provoked by strangers. Activities like camping and ice skating were things Agnes had never done, and it gave her a glimpse at how a normal life felt like. Their encounters have decreased, however when they do happen, it's typically over a bit of pizza with nothing business related whatsoever. For the first ten years of her life, Agnes didn't know this man existed, her own father by blood. Her mother raised her until she was around eleven, rejected by the only family she knew after the demon wolf within her began to devour her humanity. Fortunately, she was told her father lived in the city, but when she made her way there, the mafia took her away for the next four years. That's a story for another time.

The next time she was in the city and accidentally bumped into him, Agnes unleashed a level of fury onto him that she had never shown anyone before. Since then, they've been on iffy grounds. The night before, they could be trying to kill each other, and the morning after they share a bowl of cereal. As of now, their confrontations have become more peaceful due to her time in rehabilitation in the Hunter Society Headquarters, for now they have something close to a truce it's complicated. Even then, her relationship to her father is one of the most capricious bonds she has ever formed. Almost once a year, she sees him sitting in Sundown and joins him to take a moment to recall the past year as both of them have gotten busier since her rehabilitation.

Agnes has to admit the change in her behavior was all due to this woman's actions. Alice O'Malley has always been the one to stop Agnes from running amok. After murdering a mentor of hers, they've been on rockier ground. Now that Agnes has become more reformed, she doesn't see Alice as often as she used to, unless its by coincidence. Nevertheless, despite their rough introduction, Agnes respects the Huntress for her efforts in setting her on a better path.

  • “Hm, well after thirty-some years a part of me might have hoped he would be happy to see me. I guess he knows better by now.” That ship had sailed, but not without even a little remorse in Lucienne’s tone. It was gone in a second when the demoness’ request earned a spark in Luci’s eyes and a soft chuckle.

“Ohhh~ sweetheart, that isn’t the bargaining chip you think it is.” Lucienne moved forward again, and in one fluid movement, she closed part of the gap between the two. Her leg swung up to hook the table edge and she took a seat on it, legs crossing. One hand went behind to complete the leisurely pose, palm flat on the table surface. The other crossed over her lap. The table legs creaked and groaned for a moment, made painfully evident by their soundtrack in the jukebox concluding once and for all.  “I know everything, Agnes. I knew what kind of human he was, briefly. I know what kind of newborn he was, what they turned him into over these years. I was there. I know why he ran from the orchestra theatre that night like a scared little puppy with its tail between his legs, and I know precisely why he hasn’t bothered to tell you any of this.”

“-I know he was in London to speak with Aasir. Contrary to whatever he told you, that’s about the only reason he comes back to that side of the city is for the snap of that man’s finger…” The wine left in her glass on the table rippled at the disturbance. She was close enough into Agnes’ space to not be ignored, with a little breadth to foresee a strike should their words stray into more dangerous waters.“Essayons encore, ma chère… pourquoi Dominic est-il venu à Londres?” The vampiress leaned forward, a few locks of her hair from over her shoulder coming with. “My lips aren’t sealed, love. If you can tell me that, I’ll answer your questions.”

  •  A soft huff left Lucienne's chest and a smirk danced on her lips, painted a subtle rosy color."Calm down, little demon. If I wanted you dead, then you would have known something about it by now." She rolled her eyes all the while placing her palms on the table edge. Lucienne let the silence persist momentarily while she took one more side glance around the apartment before her intent stare resumed its study of Agnes. “I’m gathering information… and now I have questions. I know Dominic is too petrified to speak with me in the open. I lost my chance when we were interrupted at the Barbican Centre.” The vampiress’ hands slid off the table and her arms folded across her chest. Her head tipped to one side momentarily.

“Cela m'amène à toi, Petit Démon.” Her last words fell subtly across her lips when Lucienne spoke them under her breath. The soft-spoken, raspy tone of the woman carried the essence of a French accent that had been worn down over the years to something far more neutral. A few more steps were taken and Lucienne rounded the table’s corner. She leaned a hip into its edge, standing straight across from Agnes now. “Tell me what you know, tell me what he’s told you… and if he filled your quota, Chiot, I’ll be on my way. I don’t have the time to waste.”

He couldn’t be. Dominic wouldn’t have gotten himself killed so easily, even if a lover’s quarrel seemed suited for the man—if the Coven never got to him first. That’s what she reminded herself of. He was her next missing puzzle piece to click into place, her knight waiting to be placed on the chessboard.

  • “Who said I was here for him?” Lucienne retorted just as calmly with a hum to her tone, her posture straightening out as she studied Agnes from afar. She had been prepared for a fight, a spar, or anything else that might be thrown toward her… but this? The vampiress’ brow quirked at the pitiful sight she encountered instead. She rocked on her heels and left the jukebox to walk idly closer.

The woman wore a leather jacket that clung to her form with a white top underneath. A pair of denim jeans hugged her lithe frame while heeled leather boots gave the shorter woman’s stature a boost. Her complexion was strikingly pale without the glamours that Dominic prided himself in keeping so close. The wine glass was left on the table when she reached it and looked Agnes up and down in the meanwhile. She reeked faintly of blood and whatever the mysterious bloodline was that held the apartment owner together. The song on the record finished and the next proceeded after. Something upbeat, contrasting the display in the kitchen Lucienne was observing.

    “So what changed, girlie?”

  •  The silence dragged on where Dominic’s gaze watched the lights as they passed by from subway stop to subway stop. When the final stop came and the brakes came to a squealing halt, he looked up to the signage above the door to verify his thoughts hadn’t let him trail off. He felt as numb as he had ever had while sitting beside the demoness that night.

“I need time to think,” Dominic repeated, quiet but curt. His eyes were still averted. All in all, that was the only thing he could promise her at that point in the night.  The subway station was left behind them, as was the hollow corridor that was left without passengers that night. When they entered the open streets the city lights greeted them once more like an old friend. The car was waiting none too far from where it had first dropped them off. He walked toward it, focused until from the corner of his eye, he watched her figure turn toward elsewhere. He watched the tail end of Agnes disappear into the shadows and studied the sight for a few moments.

“Head West, Columbus Ave,” Dominic prompted immediately once the car door was opened. He shut the door without a word and waited for the wheels to turn.

    -/-

The apartment was still when Agnes manifested within its shadows. The same old walls, the same old furniture that had been left at a minimum ever since she had moved in. It was… quaint. That was one curious way to describe it at first glance. The bedroom was still, no different than whenever Agnes had last prepared for the vampire to arrive and travel to the venue that had changed the emotional tide for the night.

Agnes made her return. The first thing that would be heard in the apartment was a subtle sound of music coming from the living room, something she certainly hadn’t left on for herself. The jukebox was playing to a quiet tune, something in French from Agnes’ collection. It was a love song; a ballad. Something slow and sweet that was accompanied by a gentle hum to follow its rhythm.

At further inspection, the denim jacket Agnes often sported was left on the back of one of the chairs at the dining room table, pulled out of her closet, and paraded around for the evening while the demoness was gone. It was among a long list of things that had been pried into that night.

“-Where’s Lover Boy?” A vaguely familiar voice hummed. Lucienne’s silhouette stood in the living room, leaning against the jukebox with a wine glass in tow, sporting a spirit that Dominic had left in the fridge at one point or another. Her head was tilted lackadaisically.  Crimson eyes were luminescent in the dark, peering in toward the demoness she hadn’t thought to be home.

  • "-Toeing the line doesn't excuse anything, Agnes! You knew what you were doing! You didn't need to speak to her at all. You didn't need to put me in a corner over the matter and yet you chose to. I trusted you." There was no letting up to the vampire’s livid tone. The silence persisted when he had nothing more to say on the matter. Nothing that could help and nothing he felt would put his mind any more at ease.

“Your colleague was... enthusiastic. He hadn’t shared much of himself, not that it was to be expected… and you fought an adolescent in an open arena stained with blood and filled with heartbeats. Vampires are beings of the night. We’re pack hunters. We live in Covens older than humans could even remember; ones that are patient enough to wait and take everything from you- and my dear, that is not an open fight. Its a battle that’s lost the moment you aren’t looking over your shoulderno matter how capable you are.” It was a battle with his coven that he wasn’t ready to start, all the same. Not now. Not without thinking, should he be given the bloody time. How could he even consider it, after what he knew of the consequences? Everything that they had done? What he had witnessed?

The vampire steadily drew in a new breath following his tirade. The air was somehow clearer in the murky subways compared to the arena. All the same, he was waiting to leave it behind.

  • "Why don't you tell me?" Dominic responded quietly through gritted teeth. The question had been dodged and it only worked to set the vampire more on edge.  In the end, the answer truly didn't matter when perhaps they both knew. With the train's appearance, it didn't lessen his harshness any. Dominic took a seat this time with his hands clasped together.

"-How can you regret something you couldn't hold no more than a week!? Can you even understand how much bloody pressure I am under? Do you think it's just leaving that I have to worry about!? Agnes, my life will be over the moment they make the final call. Everyone I know in this city will be dead by the time I might return, if it ever becomes a possibility at all. Everything I have worked for will be for nothing." This voice grew more and more fragile as he spoke, threatening to break. He had enough stress and fear under the surface to let it spill out. His thoughts hadn't left their turbulent state since London.

"You wouldn't have known. You wouldn't have known until I was ready to tell, and this is why. I'm sorry I don't have the answer. -And I'm sorry if my grieving is going too slow for your liking, but you have no right in pushing me the matter."

Then came the invisible feeling on his chest, on his conscience, that hardly made him feel better. He felt bare, vulnerable, and no less troubled than the week before. It was an ache on his mind he couldn't avoid. No amount of shouting or sharp words could do away with that. Dominic forced himself just a little more upright in his seat and his hands loosened, running up his thighs. A hand swept his hair back as he re-entered himself.

"Agnes,  I love you… but none of this is going to work if I can't trust you. None of it- and I want this to work, believe me, I do."

  • “Any and all, vintage and new. I have a regular or two I keep it stocked for,” He responded simply, leaving the topic behind for the fight at hand. To Jazz’ next answer on the tournament scheme, the corner of the vampire’s mouth twitched.

The bell rang for the finale of the match and the crowd erupted the arena with cheering once more at the next wicked game that was won. He looked onward, noticing the slight tipping of the demoness’ chin toward their press box seating. The corner of his mouth twitched once more. Dominic picked up his glass and took a drink before he settled back in his chair and mustered up a ‘pleased’ smile. He would do his best to play the part he was given. Movement down below on the floor caught his attention again when Jazz chose to tighten his lips on himself just as quickly as he posed the question. It was a wonder in Dominic’s mind what brought the challenger there that night. The final strike from the demoness was made and the young vampire crumbled for the last time. Stupid fool, he thought. Once the fledgling turned to strike, there was no saving him.

“I expected nothing less,” Leon responded to Jazz’ comment with a hum and took another drink. Upon Agnes’ return, Dominic glanced toward the door. His eyes didn’t meet hers immediately following the spectacle, watching Jazz rise from his seat and comment ever-so-gleefully over the victory like a boy that had won a battle with his toy soldiers. When she spoke, Dom stood up all the same and walked toward the door.

    -/-

Their trek back to the station was quiet on the vampire’s behalf, made clear by the rattle of the elevator that seemed somehow louder than it was on their way down. The vampire had fallen particularly still. He had enough to think about, and an aftertaste to get out of his mouth with the arena match behind them. When she praised him for his presence, Dominic looked at her plainly. "I was told that your choice in opponent was hand selected… did you prove what you wanted to?" He prompted.

With her pause, Dominic’s attention was still on her and waiting. With how the night had transpired, there were no promises to be made right then and there, only motives to be questioned. The man's eyes lit up when she spoke again and he stared at Agnes incredulously. His jaw couldn't have possibly clenched tighter.

"-And why would you do that?" His voice was restrained at first, holding back anger that was waiting to slip out. It grew sharper and sharper as he spoke. “I made one request to you in London. I asked for one promise-” His voice rose, but not without panic at its core. “Do you understand why I asked that of you!? Do you think this is a fucking game?

  • The vampire gave a small quirk of his brow, and he let the smile return to his face. The drink was picked up and given a close inspection, right down to the ice which floated. He let the glass rest between a few fingertips gingerly while he contemplated the question. “I own a record shop on the Upper West Side. I carried over my business from London some-odd years ago,” There was no point in lying about what anyone would be able to track with enough due diligence.

His eyes traveled down to the center floor of the arena where the floor was being swept from the last bout of commotion. He spent a moment studying the previous victor’s features before he saw Agnes’ familiar frame down below. Jazz’ words piqued his interest while he watched. His attention flit back to the man and he took a small sip of bourbon from his glass. The harsh liquor’s burn was nothing to compare with the cinders in his throat from the charged atmosphere, complete with a coating of blood on the arena floor below. Still, he was as clear-headed as he could muster for the evening. “You said her opponent of choice? Do your champions get a selection?” He pried, letting the curiosity seep into his tone, albeit a little forced.

Once the bell rang to start the match, he peered back down to the arena. He wondered all the same what would bring a vampire to such an abysmal place in the pits of the city, let alone if it was presumed to be free will. No trained nor properly taught vampire would need to stoop to it. The space was a catalyst; on lesser days Dominic wouldn't have been able to hear himself think. A young vampire without proper mentoring and their arm twisted behind their back was another story. Speaking of which, the crack of bone echoed even up to the confined box they sat in. The challenger had started off sloppy and was ending as such. Vampires were predators of the night and tacticians; the wide-open arena was just as much of a downfall to the fledgling as his age.

So this is what she was so set on showing him. It read aloud to the Englishman as: ‘Look what I can do. Look at who I am, and don’t forget it.’

“Leon” took another sip and set the glass back down on the table to watch the fight continue.  “...You seem like a busy man. I’m sure you dabble in other ventures than this, as well?” He cast the question toward Jazz without losing the sense of sincerity he had started with.

  • While his gaze was on Agnes, his mind was elsewhere as he tried to follow along and put together an image of the person in his head. It spelled trouble at the worst and annoyance at the very least, but his job tonight was to observe. His job was to take in whatever happened and to trust that his attendance had some purpose. The subway doors opened and the reassurance was set aside for their mission. Dominic rocked on his heels before exiting and leaving the cabin behind to follow Agnes. He traded out the tension in his mind for a more relaxed posture that would be maintained for the night. The elevator opened and closed, offering a new array of sounds to be worried about while the vampire betted on which bolt where might give out on the contraption first.

What came next were vibrations off in the distance. Then voices, cheering, and the final creaks of the elevator that had dutifully done its job, at least this time. When Agnes opened the doors, Dominic took a breath and followed. His eyes darted left to the stranger holding up the line, matching scents to faces. They didn’t linger for long by the time they turned to pass through the curtains.

Agnes’ hand was taken when it reached out to his, Dominic wasn’t a man to waltz into a space without his own sufficient recon. That wasn’t an option tonight. Even after five hundred years, channeling his focus through the crowd and its chaos proved challenging. There were too many cues to follow and too many places for his eyes to settle. Letting them wander too far wasn’t ideal; he had to take in what he could as the moments passed. He did his best to ignore the crowd that shuffled in and out of the arena they were led through, up to a higher level where the noise hadn’t dissipated until yet another door opened and closed. The quiet was almost alarming in contrast once the door closed.

Dominic’s hand had slipped from hers when they passed through the doorway. It took one sweep of the space to focus his attention on the seated middle man. He placed a disarming expression across his face when spoken towards and let his gaze flicker between the stranger and the demoness accordingly. The vampire gave a curt nod when Agnes introduced him.

There was a strange tension between the two, like different temperatures meeting in the middle. Nonetheless, he knew that tone of voice. Whether or not the wold came out wasn’t a battle to be won by the gentleman in gold. The jacket was taken and Agnes had his full attention once more. His chin tipped down ever-so-slightly for the kiss and a low, quiet hum acknowledged her request followed by a whisper back. “I will.”

The door closed. His attention then went to the empty chair in the room, walking over to be seated. “I would trouble you for a glass of bourbon, if you have it.” He let his eyes travel along the room's corners while he settled into the seat. For whatever was about to occur, he was thankful for the glass pane between his senses and the arena. His gaze turned toward Jazz directly. He paused briefly in thought.

“I suppose, when the devil himself comes to officiate.” Leon suggested. A coy smile tugged at the corner of his mouth but left soon after.
